Birgit Nilsson sings the "Liebestod" or "Love Death" final from Richard Wagner's opera Tristan und Isolde.

"...ertrinken, versinken...unbewusst...höchste Lust!"

To think, how did Kapellmeister Bonno from the movie "Amadeus" foppishly put it?

^ Positively transcendental. I was stuck to my chair. Madame Nilsson is one of the greatest interpreters of that piece, and it could only be bettered in a performance of the opera.

German is a very nice language, and doesn't have to be full of the coarse garbage you hear in WW II films.

Mein Herz Brent - Rammstein

Speaking of, I'm going to see them tonight in concert at the American Airlines center in Dallas. If anyone is in the DFW area, I suggest you go. This is their only American tour. :P

I have been listening to Tropican Caribbean music for the past two days.

I am not a giant fan of German but that song sounds nice enough. It sounds almost Italian.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I tried listening to that song once. My ears bled.

Brandy, You're a Fine Girl - Looking Glass (A one-hit-wonder from the 70's)

This is my favorite song ever. It has almost everything I love about 70's music combined into one song.

L'Arc~en~Ciel sings "Chase" at their Madison Square Garden earlier this year. Actually, I do not really like this song much, nor the "Battlefield Earth" dreadlocks that come with it, but, this clip is the first officially produced band video from that concert, and my friends and I are amidst that crowd with thunderous glowsticks in hand. Squeal!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z5ajHRzcnJg

For the astoundingly hilarious version, here is Bobby Ologun, a Nigerian martial-artist expat in Japan who makes a living doing the hapless foreigner comedy routine, singing the http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikxXyS_-FBo. The bemused band has lovingly called it "terrible" in their shoutouts to Bobby onstage. What has been heard cannot be unheard!

In a funny coincidence that reeks of divine timing, NBC's New York-based variety show "Saturday Night Live" rebroadcasted one of their skits called "J-Pop America Fun Time Now!" the night before the concert for all the J-rock fans who had made the pilgrimage to Madison Square Garden that day. It's, uh, horrifyingly accurate!

I love Symphony Fantastique! I have not been listening to much music today. Just some mindless pop and rap on the radio.

I know I'm a little late to jump on the bus here, but I love that song! Chicago is one of my favorite bands. It's a shame they're not in the Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame.
