Hi all,

I have ordered and am anxiously awaiting the arrival of Snow Leopard. I have done some searching and have found conflicting answers as to whether SC4 will be compatible with the upgrade.

Any first hand experience out there?

Thanks in advance,

j

Haven't tried it, and Im very curious to.

I have snow leopard installed and Im thinking I will try it now. I'll edit this post with my findings.

EDIT: Yes, SC4 will work with Snow Leopard. And it runs faster and smoother than before.

You have to make sure however, that you install Rosetta when you install snow leopard.  You can do this either from the 'additional installs' widow, or click the 'customize' button when you are running the snow leopard installation application.

(Sorry, Im not sure when this button appears, but I think it is after the window where you chose where to install it. It is defiantly on the bottom left.)

I did my Snow Leopard upgrade on Sunday but have't tried playing till tonight.

Unfortunately each time I try to load the game it tries to transition from the Sim City 4 intro animation to the region view and freezes for an indefinite amount of time.

I'm not too fussed about losing my cities- they were either well played or underdeveloped and I've got my plugins saved anyway.

Any ideas?

I think I might just try a complete reinstall.

I had this same problem, however, upgrading to the Universal Binary helped!

That may have been related to a Rosetta problem, which is required to run the non-UB version.

I had Rosetta installed, so that shouldn't be the problem.

But never mind, it's working again 4.gif

I upgraded to Snow Leopard with the acquisition of a new, faster machine and SimCity works okay.

It doesn't crash as easily as before, but going from underground to normal view has become incredibly slow. It also still takes forever to load a city. I suspect I need to poke around the settings.
