Hm did a little bit of research on the subject, and I actually think its a good idea. Gives us a chance to see a lot of Marvel's characters that aren't well known and I'm sure they prolly have a lot of cool stuff in their archives. And from the business perspective Marvel will be able to use Disney's resources to go global.

Just a thought, what about Marvels ties to Universal Studios? Like all the rides at the theme parks and such, what's this going to mean for them? And does this mean Wolverine might be in Kingdom Hearts 3?!?!?

Working in this industry, I can tell you this much - Disney wants "in" on what it sees to be lucrative genres - mainly sci-fi and superhero stuff. The only remotely close thing they have to this in terms of intellectual properties that they own outright is TRON, the sequel of which just finished filming in July. (And who would want to reboot THE BLACK HOLE, really?) They're hungry for the money that they can make from this kind of movie, so the Marvel deal didn't surprise me once I heard about it.

Right. Disney wants the money being made off Marvel to be in Disney's pocket. Who could blame them? I don't predict too much change in the characters, but a different take on a classic story or character can be great if pulled off well. But that all depends on who writes it, who rewrites it, who edits it, and so forth. A story goes through so many hands before it even goes to film it's sick. Some movies flop and others make colossal wheelbarrows-full of money. These types of movies have produced both outcomes over the years and so has Disney, but Disney has also made many many wheelbarrows-full.

And how could they change the comics? The only thing I see is the stories may take a turn toward whatever issues Disney wishes it too. I didn't see the most recent Hulk movie but I understood that Edward Norton was responsible for giving it an environmental theme. Selling ideologies and such. Money money money, but so darn entertaining.

Great , the death of at least half of the great American comic book characters and their legacies. A sad day for Marvel fans.

Honestly disney [ Over the years I've grown to dislike them. To me they have been getting more annoying by the year due to the teeny-bop boom, to me they don't deserve a capital letter at the beginning of their name right now. ] has ruined a couple of things that they have bought up. Others they have helped. I will be upset if they come up with something ridiculous and tarnish the name of Marvel and it's characters.
