    Here's 55 Water Street's Progress...so far-

    110g840.jpg

I'm going to try to make it either as good or better than 130 Liberty Street and One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza. Imagine if those two were combined...whoa...

@sten1700- It most likely won't be finished anytime soon. 15.gif I don't have it anymore and had to start over on it. Unless someone else in NYBT happens to take it up soon, then I guess I'd still be the one to do it.

I quit on HSBC Bank Building, it wasn't turning out good, and I messed up on it, so I'm not doing it anymore. I may try again later but I don't know.

I recall that he said something like that he couldn't BAT for NYBT for awhile becuase he was busy with something else. I think he's still around. I thought I saw his name in the Live Chat on the home page. I'm wondering right now about Don Miguel. He comes for a short period, then goes for a long time. He was working on something really amazing looking, but RL for him must make him too busy for SC4. beutelschlurf was one of our first members, he is busy with college. He didn't have too long to even post progress. I hope they start posting again soon. Same with Kelistmac- I think he is having 3dsmax issues he's trying to get fixed. He's still part of the team, but just suddenly without saying anything stopped posting here. His recent post(which is very recent) is in the 3dsmax what ever it's called discussion.

Any way, I got a question about 55 Water Street- Should I just make the stand alone tower, or the entire thing of it(the elevated plaza on it's parking garage, and the 15? story building attached to it)? I'd rather not do two different versions, so I want to know which. I think the building(since it's one of the largest buildings in floor space in New York, well actually I think it is the largest building of floor space in NY), it will be like 5x3 or 6x3 or 6x4 or 5x4, but with the entire thing, it either will be 6x6 or even bigger. If it's bigger than 6x6 there can't be a growable version. But I'm not completely sure, I'll have to compare it to a building that's all ready done by getting the google earth model to it.

I'd say go ahead and make the whole thing. You don't want to regret not BATing the whole thing later. Just don't use polys  15.gif  lol but you use sketchup anyway, right? Apparently gmax's ability to export has very little to do with file size, but rather texture size and most importantly the number of polys. Which is why I'm having to cut up 345 into three stackable pieces, and of course the shadows look funny now if you look closely...

Don't bother with the growable size, we'll do it 2.gif.

The 130 Liberty St modding is on the way, I'm waiting for the flag prop. Same about the St Nicholas Church, looking for the good desc. Sad to inform, but I've accidentially messed up with the One Brooklyn Bridge lot file, I've attached wrong file - it doesn't work properly. I'll correct it soon, sorry for the inconvenience!

Elliot, sure, the FDNY EMS is on the list. Same as Haz-Tac version.

PBGV103, pity and strange you've got such rendering problem, this isn't so much complex model.

Seraf, it's beautiful. Don't forget about me 2.gif.

Maybe it's a matter of your computer? How many RAM do you have? Maybe someone else could render it in one piece for you?

125000 polys doesnt sound like a lot. But still, 3DS Max handles Polys more efficient compared to GMAX. Thats why it renders way faster.

Aaron my two complaints: The 2 bright spots on the roof are too bright, but you have the right idea there, and your wall texture is tiling. Other than that i like what you've done so far [assuming flat roofs and the base is untextured right now], i really like your window texturing.

@nspeds- Could you move that to the BAT Request Thread? Requests aren't made here. Thank you.

@Aaron Graham- It's looking great so far! Just follow the suggestions of the others and it will look great. Did you know there was a extra wide part of the building sticking out of the building? It's part of it, it's about 15 or 10 storys tall and has the same facade of the building. If you exclude this part that's fine. It looks good so far without it. Also that top thing up there on the top green roof is a water tower, in case you didn't know.

PBGV, if you continue to have problems with 345 Park Ave send it my way. I just got thorugh wrestling with the render issues of One Liberty Plaza. It would be a shame not to see 345 in SimCity. Thinking of investi ginto 3dsMax myself.

My you've been busy simcityfan. Great work with 55 Water, just don't burn yourself out by starting too many projects. (BTW, DonMiguel is stil around he released a brownstone pack on SC4 Devotion a week or two ago. I'll put it up in my downloads section when I get a chance.)

The Transportation Building looks like it's coming along nicely Aaron. As for the roof texture it is a bit light in some corners but that hapens with BAT as it tends to whitewash lighter texures and surfaces at angles. Although, it does add a realistic weathered look to the copper.

Oops, scrolled past this.  Ok that's good. Becuase it is infact bigger than 6x6. 3.gif I really need you to do this modding for me. I tried doing the custom querry thing for St. Nicholas, but now there isn't a querry for it at all, yet I believe I did it right. That's okay about One Brooklyn Bridge Plaza, I don't think anyone has been downloading it recently since I updated it. So I'll correct it. I am very glad you're here, I can't mod better than...gee I don't even know. 3.gif I'm going to do the flag for 130 Liberty soon.

@Elliot- Yea, I've been a busy bee lately. 3.gif Great to hear about Don Miguel! I haven't been checking SC4 Devotion in a while. I can't wait to see your One Liberty Plaza! The Financial District has had some great additions lately.

Well it shouldn't be my computer because it's fall 2009 macbook pro. I'm running snow leopard and win7 on bootcamp, and it has 4 gb of ram and a 2.8 ghz processor. I also just got the newest graphics drivers from NVIDIA. Anyway... lol

The render for the bottom section of 345 went well. So now the top two parts are in LQ and the bottom is HQ and the only part with lights right now. I can't see much of a difference except at zoom 1-3. Here's a few pics, tell me what you think.

@PBGV103- I think you forgot to post the pics after you said "here's a few pics". 3.gif

I would like to announce that(well, I've been forgeting to) that I was PMin lucky7 about joining NYBT and luck7(Rene) is now part of NYBT as one of our Master Lotters! Welcome Rene!

I would also like to say that I changed my avatar for the first time in a while to one of my favorite Spore Creatures I made a long time ago. 9.gif

EDIT: Oh never mind. You posted them afterwards. Silly me. 3.gif Looking good so far! I would suggest editing the white facade texture. It looks a little too white like a solid color white. Could you post a pic upclose of the RL facade so I can see what it exactly looks like? Becuase I think I can get you a better texture...

PBGV-Great nightlights. I would go with medium quality to be honest, it gets you good rendering quality in good rendering time. For the window textures i might do a bit more variation and maybe add a tint of blue [only if you think it is called for, but a really slight tint of blue] and for the actual building material its just too bright so give it a bit more grey and make it look less clean [use a gradient or the burn tool to do this]

@PBG- I edited my post after I saw the pics. But you don't have to edit your post to include pics when your first pics can be in the post without editing. Just click the green Reply Button underneath someone's post. A quick reply is more like this one that I'm typing right now.

The NYBT looks larger month after month, and a quantity of buildings have been made last weeks...

I m just wondering what's happened with the Bertelsmann Building in Times Square? This building is a Times Square landmark so far and I would like to see how it looks like now 9.gif

I wasn't really making a request. I was just seeing if anyone was up for the challenge of making a Lexington avenue jewel.

Basically, that's what a request is. You just gave it fancy-er wording. 3.gif But it doesn't mean you're not welcome to comment here, but there's a BAT Request Thread for these "challenges".

Kryptowhite - I've never really had issues with exporting time. I think the most it's ever taken on HQ was a little over an hour. Btw, I'm running win7 64bit on bootcamp and it didn't come with photoshop or anything, just paint. I might go buy it over winter break.

    Here are some RL pics:

Hmm, you got it down good so far. You could try making those black lines in between the seperate windows that are on the wide part. That could give it some good depth and make it look a little better. I did that with 130 Liberty StreetV2, those lines are just sunken in parts on the facade.

Well, I'm starting to use my writing skills to make a story about my Spore creatures I made in the Blogs section. I made an introduction today. I put a link to it. In my signature. Just letting ya'll know if any of ya are interested. I've been told by my friends I'm a good writer.
