well, im speachless6.gif. well briman everyone is entitled to their opinion and you sure showed that today. and of course i am here to counteract ur critisism/opinion, i NEVER said anything about making the city in a realistic way like starting out with all suburbs, then build up towards the centre of the region. the way im doing it is making each city the way i want it, for example, maxwell is going to be part of the capital for my region, then i will be building outwards untill i get to my suburbs, then i will build around along the river, but i havent decided what i want to do there. i hope that has gotten you thinking next time to look into things before you comment, thnks for ur time.

Beautiful city, man. I just read through the thread from the beginning. I have a couple question for you, as I'm trying to really get into SC4 now that I got Rush Hour. Before it was just frustrating!

    1. How many mods are you using and which ones? Seems like the surface water, ped overpasses, instant trees, and maybe a few more? plus probably the traffic cop ... any others? Where can I find the overpasses, trees, and water?

    2. How did you get the cash to lay out all that super-expensive highway and avenue before you even had any residents?

    3. I love the tunnel/park combos you've built ... do you lower the land, then build the tunnel, then fix up the surface?

Sweet job, can't wait to see more.

Now that there is a real comment, and its his first one, congrats freeulysses, as its such a good comment i dont see why i shouldnt awnser them, so.

1st question: u have already named 2 mods that i use, that is the water mod, and the traffic mod, i have also used the mod powerstation thingy, the one with the two wind turbines on, and the demand mod, which i have only used to get a quick boost, and i have only used it twice for a v short period of time, the rest has been done normally.

2nd question: i started the maps with the maximum ammount of money you can, which is selecting the easy option with like 500,000 simoleons. i need this so i may plan out my highways, so i can get a good idea of how i can layout my cities as they are basically based on my highway system, if i run out of this money i use the money cheat ctrl+x or c and type in 'weaknesspays' press enter then bring up the cheat box again press the up direction key to bring up the last code and hold down ctrl and press enter, the box xhould dtill be up, then just keep pressing up direction then enter for as long as you wish, but i dont use this anymore when i start zoning.

3rd question: what i do is lower the land to the level i want, not bothering keeping it tidy, when i got the right depth i then use that to make a perfect level for the exit, i then tidy both up so there is basically just one square shown at the depth i chose and build the tunnel, you can see from the pictures i posted, so u can get an idea of how big to make them etc.

i hope that this has helped you, and anyothers that have any queries about what i said. until next time. good night.

hey everyone, today is my day off school (teacher training day) so i have decided to spend some time carrying on with Maxwell-multinational. earlier on todat i took some time to search through every bat and lot on simtrop to get the best out of my city, which took me almost 1 and a half hours, anyway, today i have been developing a section of the last island.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell19.jpg

That is the part of the island i had decided to develop, my first plan of action is creating my infamous on/off ramp n two places and plan out what roads go where, what zones i wish to be built, etc. To end up with something like this.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell20.jpg

Soon after i turned on the clock and watched it grow, the main reason for this development of commerce is for the growing population on this little island, so that they dont have to travel too far to have jobs, so i am adding a pic of what the main transport options are, like what i done at the end of page 4, all the same rules apply about the colours.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell21.jpg

As you can see from the pictures, the lots that are on show that i am using is the entertainment pier and the new beach lots for irregular coasts.
This next pic is just simply a zoomed out view of the area im developing, it also shows some information on the city itself, such as population, my wealth 9.gif, income, city age, mayoral rating and RCI demand.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell22.jpg

For this last pic of this update is what my development stands at now, you may notice (if you have a good eyesight that is) that there are some highway sighns which i got off the exchange, it really makes it look more interesting, as well as the nice to see traffic flowing freely thorugh this metropolis.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell23.jpg

well, i have to say this development sure looks really nice, with its long beaches, pier by train and the nice relaxing surroundings, thats all from me for now, until next time, enjoy.

Neat city!  And that side-onramp avenue roundabout interchange thing has to take the cake as the most curious road arrangement I've ever seen, but you can't argue with results now, can you? 29.gif

Very nice region, tells me it is going to be like another Lexasland, ( nothing against that), I figured out you're secret, I have gained my region's pop by 1.1million in 3 days. I got a medium size city to 450K and a small city to 130K, my large city maps are not developed but the largest one stands at 505K on a large map for a total region population close 3.3 million sims.

The time has come, my next update has arrived.

when i last left you i showed you the last island of River Basin and how i was going to fill it up, well in this update i will tell you and show you what i have and already had instore for the empty land.

This first pic shows the road layout, etc of the newest residential district, which is adjacent to the newest commercial district.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell-Multinational34.jpg

    and the outcome

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell-Multinational36.jpg

In reaction to this new increase of population, the cities only lifeline to the outer world became too crowded for comfort, so the mayor called an emergency meeting to consider expanding the capacity of the international airport. after an agonizing 10 hours, it was agreed, the airport would be upgraded once more to its maximum capacity, a few days later construction began swiftly.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell-Multinational37.jpg

In a matter of weeks, it was completed, the new large international airport of Maxwell-Multinational was completed and soon open for buisiness, and once again sims flocked to the city and all was well.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell-Multinational38.jpg

this is the last pic of todays newest update, it is a view of the many islands that make up River Basins, river Delta.

    /idealbb/files/Maxwell-Multinational39.jpg

Thats all for today, but look forward for more in the near future, i am smirkazor, goodnight.

WOW. Simply, wow. I am very impressed by your city, even though I usually hate skyscraper forests. You have mentioned how you plan on building your city, so we will wait and enjoy.

I haven't logged in in well over a month, because there hasn't really been much worth commenting on, and I haven't been able to play SimCity in a while.

That being said, I really hope you continue with your CJ, as your city is outstanding. Absolutely beautiful. Don't let it get you down when noone comments for a few days. Some people like to comment once, and visit the CJ again and not comment. They feel it keeps the clutter down.

You shouldn't be doing the CJ for the people, do it for yourself. Guaranteed if the work is good (which in this case, it obviously is) - people will read.

    Keep up the great work.

thnx for the comment steveg, i too havent had alot of time to play simcity.
i am doing this city journal for the people, as whats the point in me doing it at all if no-one can admire it (making a city journal of it).

anyway, there will be more updates soon, by the way, i am doing my best to keep the temptation away from making this region like Lexasland. the bits im doing now is the capital, and no-one complain that it doesnt start out like this, with a big capital without suburbs, thats cos i havent got to that poart yet.

Good day everyone, the time has come for another update in Maxwell-Multinational, this update is showing you what the completed 3rd island in the river delta, this first pic i am going to show you is what part of the island i am developing, and as you will see it is the only available land left.

    /idealbb/files/Max

I will be zoning this part of land with dense commerce, as if i chose any other it would look totally out of proportion to the rest of the area.

This next picture is a close in view with some buildings already put in place and the zones are done, you will notice that i have drawn on whats the most important piece of road, going from red-most important to green-least important. and you may notice the yellow line, that is just showing you that there is a tunnel. Just because i felt like it i wilk show you a 3 picture sequence of the development.

    /idealbb/files/Max

    /idealbb/files/Max

    /idealbb/files/Max

Now for the completed view of part of the island i was developing also with a night view, and you will instantly notice that i have managed to download that patch to make BAT lights work, as some of you may know i have had problems with, so anyway the completed pics.

    /idealbb/files/Max
    /idealbb/files/Max

Quite an impressive view, eh. I really do enjoy doing this, as the outcome is always so pleasing to the eye. wonderful.

Now a closer view of my recent development, at a different anlge, ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. (both day and night)

    /idealbb/files/Max
    /idealbb/files/Max

A truly amazing sight at night isnt it. If you have any questions concerning anything that i have done, dont hesitate to ask me via reply. Now i will leave you with a region view with a transportation view included.

Thanks to the growth of Maxwell-Multinational the regions population has topped 1,301,390

Well thats all for today, i hope that you liked it, dont forget to make a comment if you have the time as i really want to hear you're feedback of what i have been doing, and what i am going to be doing in the near future, stay tuned, until the next time.............goodbye

Looks like its that time again, another update into the growing metropolis of what is called, Maxwell-Multinational. today we will be looking at a section of almost clear land that has been neglected because of the finnishing touches being done on Maxwell's third island. this section of land would be (from region view) the most western corner, just to let u know of what i am on about here is a pic.

    /idealbb/files/Max

I will need to explain a little bit. The black box is where i will be building, the red box is where i will be placing the convection centre, or what ever it is called, and lastly the green box, that is hwere i will be building the Maxwell-interouter train station.

Next up i will be showing a series of pictures showing the development of the area, first up is the train station, as workers will need good transport to begin construction. You will be able to see that construction of the housing that will hold the workers is being constructed, quite ironically, it is the workers that are going to live there building it.

    /idealbb/files/Max

once the workers were settled into their new living quarters for the duration of this development, construction soon started on the new convection centre, thankfully the gardens had already been put in place leaving more time for building, as seen below.

    /idealbb/files/Max

It didnt take long until it was finally completed, the new centre was finnished, and the workers could go home with satisfaction that this new buildiung will bring in more outside influence.

This is what the finnished product looks like.

    DAY
    /idealbb/files/Max

    Night
    /idealbb/files/Max

Now that the most important buildings where constructed, it was time to move onto the new commerce that is to be built around the surrounding area. The plans had been drawn out and sent to the mayors office for confirmation, after about 10 tense minutes news came out that construction was to be started immediately. it took 5 long months before the last building was completed, the construction workers where well chuffed with their achievments of getting construction completed ONE MONTH AHEAD OF SCHEDUAL! 6.gif

Here is a series of pics displaying the development leading to the completed product.

    Day
    /idealbb/files/Max3.jpg

    Night
    /idealbb/files/Max4.jpg

Thats all for today then people, i hope u like it and make u drool wanting more, as i have much more to give, as i have said before this is only the begining, and i will leave you now with the finnished thing in full view. If you have any questions about anything that i have posted in this city journal, dont hesitate to ask, i would be more than happy to help you, with any queries that you might have with anything that i do, or if you would like to make a request to me, of what u would like to see i am willing to hear it and might even, if its good, put it in my city and show it in my cj with reference to your name. Until next time, seeyas l8er.

WHAT! AM I ANGRY AT U, AM I ANGRY AT YOU! course not, its your own opinion, and in a way i agree, im mad about skyscrapers, i just love them soooo much, they look so pretty, an example of my unhealthy love for skyscrapers is my first region Lexasland, and before u say anything, that region was only to see how large i could get my region population, and it maxed out as 20,000,000. i could have got more but that would mean getting rid of what was left of nature. Getting back to the point of this city journal, i have said before that, THIS CITY (maxwell-multinational) IS THE CAPITAL OF RIVERBASIN, THEREFORE I HAVE GIVEN IT THE LARGEST POPULATION. but the only way to do this is have skyscrapers which is not uncommon in capital cities. So after i have done all i can of maxwell-multinational i will be beginning to do the outskirts of the region, and when i have finnished River Basin you will see what i was trying to do. phew, glad i got that off my chest, now no-one should have any reason to have a go at me for making this region a skyscraper forrest, because ITS NOT GOING TO BE.
