Changing config on Mac version

I have been trying to change the config on my regions so I am not stuck with the default city size layout when I create a new region, yet when I put a new config in either the game crashes, or the region shows no cities at all.  I have been using the Mac version of Paintbrush and saving the files as config.bmp (replacing the existing one in the region folder)

You have to make sure you are actually saving the files as bitmaps. Most Mac programs default to either PICT or PNG for the filetypes. I would suggest downloading GIMP or GraphicsConverter and trying again. You also need to make sure that your colored blocks are the appropriate size for each city, because having a blue section, that is only the size of a red or green section WILL cause problems.

If you are on an Intel Mac you can NOT render a region with large cities, only medium and small. Sucks big time. I have a massive region, I think the biggest you can go, and ALL my cities are medium in size 15.gif

You can not change the config of an existing region

You are doing it right when you make a "flat" region with only land in the configuration that you want.

To do this you need to make sure that you use either pure blue (for large cities) pure green (for medium) or pure red (for small).

unityx you can create large cities on an Intel mac. Read what I posted above, see if you are doing any thing wrong...

Humanleague: Are you trying to create an entirely new region or expand an existing one? If you're expanding, I think you can only expand to the south and to the east. (On the config.bmp, down and right) Same is true with the PC version, according to my PC friends.

I'm sure about the east, since I did it once. Not so sure about south. Might be north...

unityx: That's odd... I've rendered regions with large city tiles. Several of them, in fact...

Zel, the game renders from left to right, top to bottom. So yes, You were correct in saying that you can only add to the east and south.

If you added it to the north, or west, it would destroy the process by moving existing cities.

And yes, it is the same with PC.
