No, I do not.  I do know Tahiti and Bora Bora are part of that collection, but when i gathered data for these islands, I didn't use lat/long coordinates to do so.

The Winston-Salem North Carolina map is now available on the STEX.  On deck for tomorrow is...

Awesome! Wilmington NC was one I was kind of waiting for. I went through there when I was 15 and went on a family vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC.

Funny thing is, this and all the other maps that have been uploaded since mid-July when I started this one map a day release schedule, where done a year ago. I have about 40 of those maps left to release before the Mexico and Canada series hits the STEX.

    Hi blade2k5.

    Impressing work you do!

You`ve provided me with hours, actually weeks and months counting the hours, with joy playing your maps. Thank you!

Now I`m ready for a new challenge.

    I have a request for a map...

I love playing maps with shorelines.

Not too big (many cityblocks), please.

Request: A map showing the Black Sea with surrounding land. Only big cityblocks, please.

    On Wikipedia: Black Sea

I took the liberty to cut out what I would like to see.

    blacksea1.jpg

Same map showing a proposed grid showing the cityblocks.

    blackseawproposedgrid.jpg

The Bosporous strait connecting the Black Sea to the Mediterranean Sea could maybe be made more clearly (as I`ve done in these screenshots). Well, I guess you`ve got better maps to look at....

I belive this map would appeal to others as well. A lot of coastal areas and great terrain.

There is so much great custom stuff to download creating seaports, marinas etc.

If my proposed grid isn`t possible, feel free to make adjustments.

I would be delighted if you, or others, in the NHP Team could do this!

    Thank you!

    Best regards

    The Baptist (Mayor)

The best I can do for you is this old map that I released 3 years ago...the config is here... configqq.png [you'll have to save as a bmp as when I uploaded the config to imageshack, it changed the extension from a .bmp to a .png.]

The normal scale for city squares is 1km square for the small, 2km by 2km for medium, and 4km by 4 km for large. Any of the individual red squares you had would be extremely large even for a region map. A good rule of thumb is a region is one city and it's immediate area - or more than 1 in the case of very close together cities (such as Minneapolis-St Paul for example.)

    Thank you for explaining MattShizzle.

I`ll try to find a map with (dont know the english word) a scalebar/ruler, so I can decide the distances on the map.

This would be a nice map to add a lot of restaurants since it is where Emeril Lagasse grew up!

Blade, for your upcoming Canadian maps, will you be doing Vancouver? If so, will it be Vancouver metro (inclusive of the airport, Richmond, Burnaby, N. Vancouver, etc.) or just Vancouver proper?

Thank you Matt for letting me know 1.gif.

I`ve allready downloaded the map Black Sea.

I made a request to residentsim per PM after I saw his Somewhere in Northern China.

He made a too large region (for SC4) into a playable map. Scaled down, not 100% accurate.

An interresting map with plenty of coastal areas for my seaports, marinas etc.

A big thanks to residentsim for fullfilling my request 44.gif.

Yes, of course we'll be doing Vancouver44.gif but not sure on what area exactly the map will cover.

Awesome.  Would it be possible to make a special request for the map to include Sea Island (Vancouver int'l airport) and Richmond?  And also have the Stanley Park to North Vancouver area on one "large city tile" so that the Lion's Gate Bridge can be easily made?  Other maps of Vancouver I've seen in the past have the Lions Gate area on two different city tiles, so it's almost impossible to make the bridge...

I'll pass this along to my partner who is working with me on the Canada and Mexico maps.  You probably won't see any of these maps until around Thanksgiving, so it's going to be just a while longer yet.

I would love to play the Chicago map; however, I would like to know if it's possible to make the following alteration: rotate 1 degree. The real world North does not match the game's North in this map.

The key to this map is State St. In the following screenshot from Mapquest, it is the unlabeled North-to-South street right in the middle of the shot, just where the Chicago River bends North on the Main Branch. You can see the Marina City Towers between it and Dearborn St.:

    State St. Chicago Loop

Here is the location in the NHP Map PNG image, which interestingly enough, has a gridline almost right on it:

    NHP State Street

How did I figure out the map needs to be rotated? Well, since the gridline in the above shot is almost in the precise location of State St. I followed it South to where it meets the Dan Ryan Expressway. That's where I found how much deviation there is.

In the real world, State St. is the East border of the Dan Ryan, as you can see in the screenshot below:

    State St. meets Dan Ryan

In the NHP Map, it is way off to the West of the slightly sunken terrain where the Dan Ryan Expwy runs. See below:

    Chicago_SC4Terraformer_image_State_.jpg

When I fiddled with the NHP Map PNG image to figure out how to fix this, I decided to use that point on the Main Branch of the Chicago River where I know State street crosses. I placed a guideline there, and then using the rotate tool, I placed the pivot on that spot. Then, I entered a value to rotate the map. See below:

    NHP State St. new guide

    State St. pivot

When I rotated 1 degree, I got the guideline "State St." to be right where it needs to be when it meets the Dan Ryan:

State St. at Dan Ryan after 1 degree rotation

So, I hope that it is possible for the NHP team to re-do the map with this rotation, as it will allow anyone who wants to use the real Chicago grid system in game to get the streets in the right place.

Thanks, Blade! I appreciate all the excellent work the team has done with these maps. I look forward to trying out some of them, and hopefully a revised (or all-new) Chicago too.
