This was such a hit in the chat that I thought I would set it as my desktop and show everyone my pride and joy.

Note:  I scaled down the image to make it fit the 800*600 picture limit.  The original image was 1725*1275 and was the actual size of the boot.

Heres the desktop of my old computer, which has since been taken over by my mom. This computer came out in 2001, and was pretty slow even for that time. 256mb onboard memory, a P4 without hyper threading, and a small hard drive all lead to me getting a new computer (Pictures of its desk on other page)

But anyway, heres the old one:

Some of these brightly colored desktops would drive me nuts. 

 

My desktop accumulates icons, which I eventually clean up.  I recently did just that.  I run 1024x768, but had to shrink the capture to post here of course:

 

One of these days, I'll probably reinstall the Stardock stuff so I can tweak the windows and task bar, etc.  (I auto-hide the task bar, lately on the right side of the screen, but I'm not sure I like it there.)

I forget where I found that tree.  But I cleaned it up in PS and put it on a nice gradient, and have had that on my laptop for a couple of years now.  Once I find a desktop I really like, I usually stick with it for a long time.

 

I wish I could find my desktop from back in the 90s.  It actually won a "Best Desktop" award at the office.  I hope it is still on a CD or one of my archival hard drives and not lost forever.

 

p.s. My other computer just has the default Windows blue background, but that's a headless server.

Ah, good to see someone uses Linux 1ajs! Personally, I just don't want to deal with it and I have spent so much time modding my Windows XP, to me its not worth it, but I hear that the Gnome desktop environment is the best there is.

Great desktops!

I found a nice picture of the Toronto skyline, and decided to make it my background.

As soon as I set a new desktop background, I always rearrange my icons so the subject of the picture isn't blocked.

Odd. Many people who use Photobucket say that it resizes their images when it is too large. I was going to suggest to use jpeg, but it appears that your image is already a jpeg. Hmm... I use Photobucket and I don't see why the image resized itself.

I looked at the size using properties and that is a good size. Very odd that it resizes.
