AJHAINC, thanks for pointing that out. Stupid Excel thinks if I drag SAT down, I want it to go through the days of the week when I just wanted SAT for each. I'll attach a corrected version

 

Mr. Cortez, like I said, you don't have to know anything about hockey to play in the SHL. No need to seek trades. If someone wants to trade with you, you can consider it like I said, but you don't have to do anything. I actually doubt the trading aspect will be real busy, but for some people that is a lot of fun, and I want to make this as fun as possible, so it is an option.

Reminder to GMs: If you haven't gotten your homework to me, please do so. To refresh your memory, I asked for some information about your city. Some of you have CJs and some don't, but think of it like a CJ entry that you're giving me. Focus on hockey in your town, but give me info about population, climate, location, history, whatever.

 

I will use this information sprinkled in my game postings when there is a home game in your city I want to feature. For this reason, please PM the info to me, don't post it in this thread. That way I can reveal it to people in the course of the SHL season. Thank you!

 

Clarifying trade rules: If you have a specific trade you're working out, do it in PMs. But if you are looking to advertize, you can post in the thread. For example: Wanted: 90+ goalie. Or Defender for trade. etc.

 

 

An aside: A funny biproduct of using NHL 2004 rosters, which doesn't mostly matter since there was no 04-05 season, is that I have a defender on my roster who is in real life currently in a Canadian prison serving time for trying to have his agent killed.

Hey, folks. Thanks for the responses. It seems not many people are going to trade. Nonetheless I'll give it a day or two before starting the league up for those who may want to trade.

If you're a GM reading this thread and I haven't heard from you in a while, drop a comment in. I'm not trying to make this work or anything, but I haven't heard from roughly hald the GMs since before the league filled up. Maybe you guys will get more involved once the games start. This is a lot of work but worth it when I see people enjoying it, using images in their city journals, etc., so I'd like to see more of you getting involved.

well I think the Scorpions have a decent team.
I would show my stadium but apperantly the same architect and builders have made the same stadium in other cities (cookie cutter stadiums ) I have the Buffalo sabre stadium. To bad there was not other NHL stadiums built or others to give more variety

AJHAINC, the auto lines will take care of everything. It would just be too much work for everyone to try to let you guys pick lines and everything. Plus there are a lot of people who don't know a lot about hockey and I don't want things to get too complicated for them.

And actually I'm in the market for the same thing, a mid-80s + defenseman. Maybe I should have used my commissioner powers to give my teams some defense.

Anyways I would like to trade for Brodeur. I don't know who has him. I just skimmed threw the rosters looking for my team...before I looked for others.

SAT is you, not DEV. In the first roster, SAT got turned into days of the week by the program I was using. Look at one of the posts at the top of this page for an updated roster that has SAT in there correctly. Sorry for the mistake.
Also I'd prefer (and it's probably better for you) if you put your specific trade requests in a PM to that GM. If you don't know who owns the team, check page 5 where there is a listing of all the logos, teams, GMs etc.

PS I like your hockey site. Though a small outdoor rink, it looks nice.

This is for those of you who need a hockey advisor regarding trades. Please feel free to pm me and I will help you out free of charge. Consider me a scout. I am a life long hockey nut who's heart was shattered by the NHL lockout of last season and since I was away when this was started (the death of my beloved wife 3 weeks ago) I was unable to join. So once again for those with limited hockey knowledge or none at all feel free to ask any player questions my way as I am just an impartial outside observor. Note to all, a shame there is only 2 origianl starting six teams in the league, would have been nice to see all six original teams playing in this league. Have fun and I am looking forward to watching this league grow and expand.

^^^ Wow, thanks for that offer. That's very generous, and I bet some people will take you up on it because there are several who don't know much about hockey. I know I've seen some of them ask for opinions on their rosters in their CJs.

It's too bad you didn't get in this season, though obviously you had more pressing concerns (about which I wish I could offer comforting words beyond I'm sorry, but what else can I say?)

I believe I PMed all the original teams, and this is who we got. But I believe we have a good league here.

macsurfing has brought an error in the schedule to my attention. It affects three teams:
FRI
SBC
ROY

Game day 80 shows SBC @ FRI, it should be the other way around, FRI@SBC.

Game day 85 shows SBC @ FRI *again*, this should be ROY @ FRI.

The attached schedule corrects the errors. If you find more (and hey, I'm human, there may well be more!) let me know. However, these are errors in my transcription of the schedule created by the computer, so rest assured that the actual games will all be played correctly. That means playing a total of 29 games, one game each against each of the other SHL teams.

This seems like a good point to explain the game day numbers on the schedule. Game day 1 is the first day games are played, 2 is the second, 80 is the 80th, etc. I'm not matching these up to days in real life because I'm not positive my schedule will always be regular enough to do that. So sometimes we might go a day or two between games, and some days I might sim a couple of days to catch up. Just so you're aware.

Also, because we are doing a short schedule, I also reduced the number of games in each playoff series. So matchups in the playoffs will be best of 5 games, not best of 7 as in the NHL.
