I'm not setting particular days for games because I'm not able to guarantee I'll be able to do them then. I've got a life, and these updates take awhile. The longer ones with featured games and many pictures, can take an hour or two to simulate the games and put together the update. That's a good amount of time. BUt we've got 80-something game days to get through, so I'm trying to do them as often as possible so we're not running this same season a year from now.

 

So far, I've been averaging about 2 per day. That should get us done in about a month and a half, or basically early September.

 

Also, I won't always keep up with that. I've got one weekend early next month when I have family in town and may not be able to update as much, and a 5 day stretch later in August when I'll be unable to update at all because I'll be staying with my girlfriend, helping her recover from surgery. I'm working on a way to have my assistant commish update some during that time.

 

So basically, the answer is, you'll get games when I can get them to you.

At the end of the season will there be new GM's for all the teams? Or will they stay the same.

I would guess those teams that wish to go on and were active participants in this season will get to keep their team in future seasons. Some people may not wish to do that, and I suspect some of our GMs signed up and have already forgotten about it.

If you don't have a team but are interested in a team for next season, note it here and I'll keep you in mind. No promises, though, as there are a couple people already on the unofficial waiting list as well.

Emporia just can't seem to get this season off on the right foot..er, skate.

Injury Report: Emporia's Eloranta out 2 weeks with injured collarbone.

 

 

 

Buffalo on the other hand is off to a great start and delivered the Scorpions their first loss tonight.

Injury Report: Strawberry City's Poapst out 5 weeks with a torn bicep.

 

 

 

These teams battled it out to a tie that helped neither in the standings.

 

 

 

Pern handed Sephora its first loss in regulation.

 

 

 

Amiton finally gets a win after facing the hapless Friverton Gold Stars, who seemed to start the season with a bang that quickly became a whimper.

man... my laziness has missed another good one...

i saw this thread about a month ago i guess but i never clicked on it... i dont know why i just didnt... well with all the talk about this lately... i had to click... and BOY is this good!!

mentarman this is just so amazing i mean look at the presentation... i not an avid hockey lover but the way youve presented this is making me want to learn more about hockey!!

Now only if i had clicked when this started i could have a team and join in in the fun....

Can you make an expansion team next season ??

This has been done for other sports, or at least the simulation of a league part has been done. There was a hockey league before and also a there is a very successful soccer league. I don't know all the details about the hockey league, but the soccer league at least was/is simulated with a text-based program. The difference is I am using a hockey game allowing me to use graphics and in-game pics to try to make things a little more fun and real. I'm guessing the reason no one's done that before is it is a pain in the butt and takes a lot of time.

Metarman, as I have played NHL 2004 (Xbox version mind you), you are doing a good job in order to play day by day. Do you let the CPU play each other. Do you have the Elite Teams' (the ones from Europe) jerseys in there? Maybe you should've used their jerseys.

 

If you have the time, do a google search for NHL 2004 addons, maybe you could find programs to help you create new and more interesting jersey's for the teams. Look in EA's site as well.

Yes, I let the CPU play each other. The game has European jerseys but you can't (or I haven't been able anyway) use them if you are simulating a whole NHL season. You have to use NHL jerseys or the generic ones which we are using. Those would be nice, but then again, I think everyone's pretty happy with their logos and jerseys right now.

 

Didn't find a lot on EA's site (other than a end-of-season roster update, which we're using). I didn't find much of anything else in the way of add-ons. I'll look more before next season (though I'll probably use NHL 2006 for next season if it is out by then) but I think we're fine for this season. Thanks for the suggestions.

OK, further answer: I doubt there will be an expansion per se. First of all, to run a simulated SHL season right now, you need 30 teams, no more, no less. Maybe that will change with NHL 2006. Second, I don't know how many more teams I'd like to keep track of. This is a lot of work already.

 

But I do suspect at least a few spots will open up. If you are interested, let me know in here and you'll be on the waiting list. Several people have done that already.

 

As I said above, I appreciate all the interest and questions, but at the same time, I've got a lot of work ahead to complete this season. The team GMs are having fun (I hope!) and I owe them my attention on this season right now.

Today's results:

Can anyone stop Sutherland's stellar start to the season?

The Blizzard edged out the Eagles for the win.

St. Charles gives June Isle their first taste of losing. The Sharks still get a point for the overtime loss.

The Bruins just can't catch a break. They struggled for the win in overtime, but ended with a tie - their best performance so far this season.

Injury Report: New Berlin's Hecl out 11 weeks for foot surgery.

Hersonburg with another win, which puts them at the top of the CentralWest and tied for second in the entire SHL.
