^^^ Good info, I wasn't sure if it was allowed either but nothing says it's not. Plenty of people have animated gif avatars. If a mod sees these and suggests we shouldn't have them, we'll get rid of them. There's an old saying: Sometimes it's better to ask forgiveness than permission. 18.gif

Padraig, I can make you a  new sig if you want with a darker color. That was just a trial run, and you ended up with a darker jersey, which is where I've been trying to take the background colors from. Or if you like that one, that's great.

    To Padraig_2:

I wanted the sig I made myself with the sig made for me for the SHL within the same image, and the only thing that popped in my head was flash, but while I was surfing the internet, it dawned on me: animated gifs, so flash is not required, but thanks anyway.

Click on Personal Section at the top of the forum. Then click on Edit user profile. You should scroll down and you'll see a spot for a signature. You can type in whatever you want there.

If you want to put a picture in (say, the signature pic I made you, for example 2.gif), you need to host the picture somewhere like Imageshack.us. Or there's the Simtropolis Picture Hosting, but I've never used that. ANyway, then you paste the url from Imageshack into the signature area.

    PM if you're having trouble.

EDIT: If you are having trouble with the hosting part, I'll just keep it on my Imageshack account. So you should be able to just copy and paste the sig pic in from the PM I sent you into the signature area under Edit user profile.

mentarman - Thanks for the info.  I needed it!  I do have my own hosting, so everything's fine that way.  It's a very nice sig, by the way.  1.gif

    EDIT:  I did type whatever I wanted in there . . . . . . . It's good.

Your pic isn't showing up, it shows a Tripod logo (in case you can't see that for some reason.) Something's wrong.

But I like the idea of your sig with the games, and the real vs. SHL Buffalo Sabres.

    EDIT: He got it working....

    Hmm.  I can see it just fine.  I don't know what's up.  Maybe I left something out . . . .

It's working fine now.  It seems Tripod doesn't like people hosting their sigs on their bandwidth.

In Ilitj, Socialist State of Rodina, people are rushing to get tickets for the upcoming SHL season.

How Did I miss out on this I and the citizens of Rorysville are unhappy with the fact that we missed out on the SHL but at least we have the RVPHL enetering its 90th season so thats consolation I guess.

Very nice arena, makes mine look like crap 1.gif

But what my place lacks in design is made up in spirt and the never-ending desire to kick some A**!

    Maybe yours...

    Just kidding....nice place, though

Edit: How did you make that rail transition into that tunnel so nice?

sepsis, very nice sports complex. I think the other teams will enjoy playing in such a nice facility. Thanks for showing it off, and anyone else who wishes to do so can feel free to post images of their city.

canuck3360, I'm sorry you missed out on this. It filled up fast! But we'd be happy to have you drop by once in awhile as a fan and when/if there's a second season, there'll likely be some slots open up.

Everyone, I'm chipping away at the rosters but it's a lot of tedious work. I've done the draft and a little bit of rebalancing because the computer did a couple weird things in the draft. But then I've got to copy down everything because there's no way to cut and paste this info from the game. 26.gif So that's a 32-member roster for 30 teams, you do the math.... And believe it or not I try to have a life outside this thread! I finally quit last night when my wrists started hurting from typing all day!

I hope to have this info up today or tonight. Thank you for your patience.
In the meantime, entertain yourself with some trashtalk.

Have you heard about the *latest* scandal involving the Arcadian Fighting Flippers? Seems their mascot made some mistakes in his youth.

The Forum of Sutherland is ready to host the Sutherland Stars and the other 29 SHL teams. The great Forum is the sports wonder of the Sutherland Region. It can seat 18,000 fans and has parking underneath the busy business district of Sutherland. GO Stars!!!!

Special thanks to Eburress and NDEXfor the excellent NDEX Windspear Arena (available on the STEX)! Its a great model that is perfect for any hockey games in Simcity!

Mr. Cortez - I really, really hate to say this - but you've stolen my arena.26.gif  I've got an exclusive license on it. 49.gif

*yanks the Arena from your city and replaces it with a similar one made by SensMan on the STEX* 38.gif

    is it yours for real?

Lets share! Your and my arena were made by the same engineering company, maybe?

Traffic_Jam - Wow - you have arenas for both your SHL and minor league affiliate teams!

Mr. Cortez - Our arenas were most definitely done by the same architect - ST's own sargeantcm.  And for your information - that Arena is the home of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres.  See what I meant by exclusive license ?  49.gif

On the topic of arena sharing, I don't think it's feasible.  What are we going to do if we have to play each other?  Who's the home team, and who's the away team?  1.gif

I have a feeling that with the small number of arenas available to people, there are going to be a number of amazing coincidences where architects independently designed arenas that look just like arenas in other SHL cities. 18.gif

    I didn't mean to...

it's not like there are hundreds of arenas here on the stex!

Should I take a look at the old arena, and see if the engineers can repair it?

The last thing I want to do is to make enimies before the season starts!!

I would make my own, but I'm not a batter.

Please, fellow Simtropolians, we are civilized people. We can come up to some type of compromise, can we? I love the new arena, but if it leads to stealing and scandalism (is that a word?), then I will repair and move back to the old one.

SHL rosters posted, trading can begin!

Attached to this message you will find a text file with the rosters of every team in the SHL. Right now it is one big text file with almost a thousand players(!). If you want to look at your team, find your team's three-letter abbreviation on the left-hand side and those are your players. I will try to get an Excel file up tomorrow evening if people are interested in that. Also I may put up a simple Web site with just this information on it (I know me and if I get carried away designing a nifty Web site, you'll get a cool Web site but not much else will get done!)

When you look at your team, you will see centers ©, right wingers (RW), left wingers (LW) and goalies (G). You have enough players to field your team plus extras who will be sent down to the minor leagues. In case of injury or suspenson or whatever, these people can be called up.  Finally, you will see a number next to your player telling  you overall how good he is on a scale to 100. Players in the 90s are household names pretty much. In the 80s are talented players. 70s are good, 60s will surely be on your minor league team.

    Trading:
First things first: I want everyone to know they do not have to trade. If you don't feel comfortable doing it, don't know hockey well enough, or whatever, you don't have to. The teams should be balanced such that you can field a quality team as they stand now. Keep in mind though that some people want to put together a certain kind of team, acquire their favorite player, etc., so at least entertain the possibility if you get a message from someone requesting a trade. You can always PM me, or, I'm assuming, my assistant commish ryanb_sc4, for an unbiased opinion on a trade.

So here's what you do if you want to trade: Figure out your desired trade, then contact the other person involved by PM or email, not in this thread.  When you've figured out your trade, come to this thread and post your desired trade. The other GM involved in the trade needs to do the same. Once I have both messages, I will approve the trade with a post in the thread, and then I will make the trade at my earliest convenience. Traded players can play in the next game.

Right now there is no limit on trading. Try not to get into all kinds of 8-player deals with draft picks and firstborn children involved. If it gets really crazy and I'm spending half my life completing trades and this thread is cluttered with trades, I reserve the right to limit the number of trades or change these rules. But for now, they are open until the trade deadline later in the season (which will be marked on the schedule you'll get shortly.)

I hate to say this now, but....

I don't know much about hockey.

With that said, I do not want to trade. I want to keep things simple and concrete, so I can follow it better.
