Wowzers! That is one huge collection, Xylox! You must be quite active with your digital camera?

Or are these the property of other photographers?

Lots of great generic signs also! Those are the kind of things that are most handy to the BATters and Lot editors.

Perhaps one of you can help me here. I am looking for a metal beam texture. But not just any, it has to be a dark red. With weathering spots. Something that could go on an exposed steel bridge. The long red poles connecting the arch to the trestle is about the color I am looking for.
riverbridge9yv.jpg alt=Image Hosted by I
Also, if there could be a seperate texture that is of a metal connector panal (You know, where two beams come together and are bolted to a plate). Same color, just a more of a square piece with exposed bolts. Or if one could point me in the right direction, that's good too.

And maybe some weathered concrete for the concrete base? Awesomeness too.

Thanks.

Right now I am busy making my dungeon pack for Turbo Squid.

All textures will have at least 3 versions: specular direct light, angled 45 left, angled 45 right.

It will include doors, shutters, windows, tileable stone walls and stone archways.

Thanks to the Simtropolis community and there info about Turbo Squid.

I have realized the potential of texture making, due to you sitizens!

I have the legal, registered software, so it's time I quit stalling and do what I do best.

As for ST? I will NEVER leave you! You are my new 2nd family.

When I am finished with the Dungeon Pack, I will continue making exclusive free textures for St.

Brtim2: something similar to this only in red, no ribbing and edge corrosion, small rivets near edges maybe? You may not see that much detail in SC4 though.

<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/files//tinroofel95p.bmp align=baseline> Also have textures in the Simmars Forum.

We need volunteer BATters to help polish up the Beta 2 version. Any Takers?

yessir, something like what you posted, with the changes you also posted. I think that would work well.

Thanks and good luck with your dungeon pack!

Brtim2: Well now, just a quick test okay?

This may not be what you expected, but I can easily make any kind of changes you wish.

Rustier.
less or more bolts or round rivets instead.
Change direction of bubbling metal primer.
randomize the corrosion more, instead of on the edges.
darker, lighter.
gradient or more specularity.

I know; it isn't rusty enough, IMO.

Well here's the thing, actually. It shouldn't be painted. I am basing this off of the New River Gorge Bridge in West Virginia. According to one of the websites it says it was built

by using unpainted weathering steel to construct the bridge. The color blends with the surrounding breathtaking beauty of the New River Gorge itself.
quote>

If that makes any sense. I do like the bolts on the left and right edges going up and down. Weathering going up and down. And this is supposed to go on a beam that is 40 meters tall and 1.5 meters wide (did I mention the bridge is tall?), but if you want you could make a small texture that I can

Colorwise, a darker red than what you have currently. Apparently the whole bridge is to be one big rust spot. That's how the steel is designed, anyway. And although I like the look of the rust bubbles, I think that is way too fine of detail to be shown in game. Perhaps for SC5?

Yes, thanks Brtim2. That was just the information I needed. I will make them later today. I can make them to scale even.

Those are nice textures Bixel. they could easily be made a different color.

Although they are of concrete, showing back side of cement anchor bolts and nuts. You can still do some great stuff with those. actually, I can use them myself, Bixel. I can modify them in B5.5 and PS both. Also could make them vector grfx, with ICS2, to allow for better resolution when re-sizing them.

Thanks a million Bixel! They charge $20.00 U.S., at Turbo Squid, for a set such as these.

Bixel: Thanks again, Bix. I will do that. I am still searching for more venues, to ply my wares.

Interestingly, I have found only one website, that does not charge for a proprietorship; Turbo Squid.
Other sites charge you a fee to sell your products. Renderosity.com is 5.00 a month, I believe.

I'm very much amazed at the textures that you guys have made and found on the internet.  I have a question though.  I recently downloaded Maya PLE (edition 7) and I was curious if you guys knew of any good tutorials on how to make textures with them.  I have gotten a few tutorials off of Alias' website , but since I'm only a bronze member, I don't have access to the really good tutorials.15.gif

I know the feeling VT. Last I checked the full version of maya has a very big price tag.

Since I pourchased a full version of AICS2, I can copy and paste hundreds of things from the adobe resource center, where I am a member.

Just now getting to learn some of this stuff.

My suggestion is to become a member of  Renderosity.com and then click on tutorials in the task bar homepage, then select maya tutorials. I must warn you, Maya is a rarely talked about program. Not many hobbiests can afford to use it.

I found a site of someone who did the searching for us. It was made for Quake but they are jpegs and will work either way. There are 2000 textres espicially made for urban enviroments and all in one zip file that nicley orginzes it self into catagories when un-zipped. There is one downside to it you need a fileplanet account. It is free to sign up.
Here  is the link.

Enjoy

Thanks everyone for the textures. I pulled quite a few useful links from here. Now I had an idea that came to me this evening when I was looking for some photos of HVACs to get some textures that worked quite well. E-bay. You can find pretty much everything on there and almost everything for sale comes with a photo since people are reluctant to buy sight on seen. I did a HVAC search there and found a wealth of photos whereas my google search resulted in just a handful of useful hits. E-bay is not something that would always be useful, but if you're stuck on trying to find an appropriate texture for some obscure piece of mechanical equipment that is generally not photographed because, who would want a picture of it, it's probably a good place to look. It really helped me out.

This texture will, when rendered, look like the game´s default medium wealth pavement. So if You want to include a piece of ground in Your model, this is the texture for You!

streetpink2.jpg

Yes it looks dark, ig gets much lighter in the render!

I'm pretty new to this, I put textures in the wrong place before. Here's one that maybe you can use for a church or somethin. I have been working on more. I now have gmax and the BAT installed but can not find a real start to finish tutorial on making textures. Any Help?

BTW, the symbols might come in handy for road signs, deer for Deer crossing sign, etc.

I got something which might be useful for other BATters(Sure as hell is useful for me!

i was playing half life 2 and i found all those great posters, doors and graffitis i just could't let them be in half life 2 only, so i snapped a few pics.

You take what you want from each texture and edit it onto the textures you use for your bats.thus giving your bat more detail!
