Just a tip I figured out on making my own textures.  If you have Photoshop, I found an easy way to make stucco types.

Create a new file, about 120x120.  Size isn't critical, as these textures by design will tile well.

Choose which ever color you like in the foreground, and paint the entire area with it.  You could also do this with background, if that is your preferred method.
Next under filters, go to texture, and choose texturizer from the roll out.  The screen that opens up gives you 4 or 5 different texture options.  I found the sandstone one looks the best.  You can play with the other options a bit to your liking.
Another filter that has usable results for this is noise.  If you play with that one, you might like the results as well.

Either of these can give you a solid base color, that doesn't look like it's been painted on.  It will have minor variations just like most you see.

Apply these textures on walls, using a UVW map modifier, set to box.  You may need to adjust the tiling at the bottom to get it to look the best, depending on the size of the object.

I am very much a beginner to photoshop, so if anyone has more suggestions, feel free to comment.  Also, if my explanation wasn't clear, let me know.  I'll put together a mini tutorial with screenshots and such.

I swear, robledo, that water texture reminds me of the water textures in the original gta for some strange reason - I actually have it and gta3 on this computer (I also have gta2, but it doesn't work on winXP 32.gif) ...

Does anyone know a good patina copper or bronze texture?

I could really use one, in multiple BAT projects.

Here's a nice granite tile texture that I made in Photoshop.  I went and took a picture of a building's facade, so the granite pattern is authentic. 9.gif  It also tiles PERFECTLY with no seams at all.

Here's a few textures I have. Anyone's welcome to them. I got the blue skyscraper glass somewhere, on a thread here I think, but I can't remember where.

Folks,
I am looking for a specific way to do a marble and then a window texture.  I am willing to do myself, if only for the experience;  Are there tutorials on how to make textures?  (  Linking on to Ralphael's  Chapter 05 - Using Photoshop (Elements) for BAT images/textures   & Appendix F - Creating new base and overlay textures     brought me back to Home Page -sigh...)  Can I do the same with Microsoft PhotoDraw?  34.gif

Thanks!!  1.gif

(But I am going to learn it & make my buildings!!)  27.gif 19.gif ___________________

Darkmatter, Et Al,
My apologies.  Even though I could not open Raphael's tutorials (it lead to the Home Page), I did find texturing in Phillipbo's great set of tutorials that I am currently studying.  It doesn't look so ominous.    Again my apologies for the post   (emoticon of banging head against a wall) !

Thanks guys for the quick reply.
nosoupforyou, thanks, as you said, some interesting  stuff, but not really what I was looking for, but surely might come in handy one day.
jbizzle, the texture on the 3rd url is perfect, but not the colour. No, I am no good with Paint.

Exatly what I am looking for is the roofs of some older cathedrals or Universities , made of oxidized (or whatever you call it) Copper. You know the almost emerald greenish rich colour.- I can't show you, because I haven't found anything like it yet, but I am sure you all know , what I mean.2.gif

If you'd like I could try to change it for you.  We've some copper roofs
in our area, so I can take a picture, for the color/patina.

jestarr

EDIT:

I changed the original jpg to this:

/idealbb/files/gr_metal_roofb.jpg

The color came from this:

/idealbb/files/copper_resinate.jpg

This is an image of copper resinate, the chemical used to artificially age copper.

Even if it says so that coppers resinate is used to artificially age copper, this is far from what I am looking for. It is not an even colour , nor brght like this one. Aged copper is more like a turkish green or turquoise colored, hard to explain in words, since it is a unique colour.
Shame that I live too far from Civ15.gif, I would go and take a picture of these roof, like the Montreal McGill University, but that is more than 4 hours drive from my place.

Anyway, thanks for trying hard and bothering  jestarr, I will continue to search on the net and maybe get lucky.........2.gif1.gif
