Night Lighting Still Doesn't Work after SC4batupdate.exe

Hey guys,

I am just wondering why my night lighting still doesn't work after I installed my BAT update using directiosn from this post (https://www.simtropolis.com/forum/messageview.cfm?catid=147&threadid=76069&enterthread=y).

There are some inaccuracies in that article, you don't need gMax, or the SC4 BAT.  What you need is the Rush Hour, or Deluxe version of the game, have the game update patch installed, then you can install the SC4update4BAT.exe.  The game patch will update the Simcity 4.exe file version to 1.1.638.0, after the BAT update the version will be 1.1.640.0.

hmm my game is updated to 1.1.640.0 and the exe file is 8.01MB. I noticed that he said I need to wait for a few months before the light to show up, is that true?

also, I am using a unregistered copy of the deluxe, does that affect the lighting?

Do you mean you haven't registered it at simcity.ea.com? If so, that would not make a difference.

It should only take a few minutes of night time play for the lights to work, as long as the lots have power.

The size of the exe seems about right.

It also depends, if you are using a no-cd patch or a crack, then the update won't work.

 I am using a virtual drive with the cd image mounted... but that's just like playing it off a cd isn't it? plus my simcity version is .640 and about the right size... I don't know, if this keeps bugging me I might just go buy a real copy haha >.<

I just fixed it by reinstalling another copy of the simcity4, however my mouse cursor grid tool is now gone so ya... simcity still hates me >.

Assuming you updated after re-installing, did you reset your graphics settings. Updating may have reset them to 'Low'.

I have the exact same problem on a genuine sc4 game. I did everything I was supposed to. The only lights that show up on custom downloads are lampposts.

I am experiencing this problem aswell, however, I have SC4 with Rush Hour all registered with EA and got the update from the official site, yet all the awesome Bixel HK buildings and everything else I downloaded remain in the dark! If anyone knows how to sort out this problem, I would be very grateful!

Check the version of the Simcity 4.exe, see above, should be 1.1.640.0.

Same problem as well ... attempting a reinstall. By the way, this is a legal copy of Deluxe I'm using that I bought from EB Games. You can get the game now for like $20 anyways. The exe is 1.1.640, so no idea what may be wrong.

UPDATE: I managed to fix the problem!

Here's how:

Reinstall the game. Then update to the 638 edition then the 640 edition. Put in Disk 2. DO NOT use any cracks or anything. The 638 exe version of the crack off of megagames disables the nightlighting. Unfortunately, that means also that you'll have to use the CD for now to see nightlighting.  (You can still used the cracked version for normal play, but it won't display night lighting)

You could use a cd image instead of "cracking" the game. It's legal if you don't sell the cd image or put it up somewhere for public (free) download.

Sorry about that.

Speaking of which, note that picture above that I posted. See how the monorail stations aren`t lighting up at night. Wait a few months and it should be back to normal.

Hi,

After reading the posts, I realised I have encountered a rather weird problem. Where did you guys download the update from? because I have already install the update 5 times and i am still at version 1.1.6380. It doesn't seem to change. And the nightlighting doesn't work as well.

I am using a genuine copy of the Simcity 4, and it previously worked fine until i reformatted the computer.

Failing that, a few pounds will get you a new copy on-line from one of the download vendors, fully patched and ready to go.

hi i did everything also my game is brand new like four days old did the patch and nothing at all i have everything im suppose to have and it still doesnt work i would love to turn the night on but nope just going to play in the day time
