I use the same resolution as hal (1920*1200)

The first thing you will need to figure out is the resolution of your monitor.  To find it out, look under the settings tab of your display properties.

Once you know that, find the shortcut you use to start the game and do this:

1. Right Click on the shortcut and pick properties.

2. Youll Notice that theres a target line. You will need to add your resolution by typing after the end of whatevers there.

Here is the format, replce the #### with your resolution :

-CustomResolution:enabled -r####x####x32 -f -intro:off

My resolution is 1920*1200 so the whole thing for me looks like this:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4 Deluxe\Apps\simcity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1200x32 -f -intro:off

Your installation path and resolution could be diffrent, so change thoose if it is.

It works for all Windows versions.  You may not have the syntax correct.  The tag should start with a space after the quotation marks.  The resolution entered must be on that the monitor supports.

You must start the game with the shortcut at least once for the new setting to take.

Well I type in everything correctly but it will not let me apply . It doesn't matter though, I just wanted to skip the intro and I noticed in the example it had "intro43.gifff."

I think the custom resolutions will work depending on the properties of your monitor. Also, did you mean custom as in window mode, cuz all you need to do is change  -r####x####x32 -f to  -r####x####x32 -w. Honestly, I don't see a reason to go custom resolution on full screen. If you want full screen, just stick to the native resolution 2.gif.

I think the main reason to use a custom resolution is that wide screen monitors are becoming more common.

Yes it should work for all windows versions.

Here's my shortcut code for reference.  (I don't use the x32 that others have listed).

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1200

And when I make a video, I change the resolution to a 16:9 ratio so it doesn't squish on Youtube or whatever:

"C:\Program Files\Maxis\SimCity 4\Apps\SimCity 4.exe" -CustomResolution:enabled -r1920x1080

This Thread may be of further assistance as well.
