    North Shore Development Plan

The North Shore is an open area to the north of the island whic has no development at all.
The plan to develop the North Shore into a cultural holiday resort and national park have been released.

As part of the development of North Shore and the inevitable re-development of holiday resorts to reach what is known as the Sunset Beach Standard, the Tourist Board have released a new coastal map.

As the development of North Shore unravells I thought it would be a nice addition to show you the overview of the Kaneone Underground. The underground for the capital city is the only underground transit system on the island and consists of the South Circular Line, the rather larger North Circular Line and the underground hub station, Central Station.

The map is drawn geographically and shows a relatively accurate position for all stations and the line itself. To show where the underground lies, City Hall and City House (at King's Sqaure) are located above the Central Station, between Browns Street Station and St. Martins Street Station.

The island's second underground transit network is planned for North Shore and will be named 'The Union Line' to celebrate the joining of the SCJU. Engineers from Kaneone's underground system have been hired for the North Shore project.

    Thanks for all your comments!

Ill Tonkso: Thanks again for the sign, I've finally managed to fix the texturing problem with gmax!

Traffic_Jam: Thanks, I thought the maps would add a bit more realism to it all. They will soon be changing with the development of North Shore.

2s: Thanks, those maps took along time, each dot is actually roughly in the same position as the station in-game. There are three more underground maps to come.

Jeb: Thanks for your continued support, it's a pleasure that our two nations are great and strong allies!

gurrgkud: Thank you, the beach was the longest bit to do, laying 3x1 and 1x1 textures across the original. Oh, and there were about 500 squares [:0].

Murakumon: Thanks, maps are somewhat a specialty of mine.

    EDIT:
newyorkrunaway1: Nice to have you onboard. You'll have to check back more often! Lots of exciting updates are coming shortly.

    headlinenews_giran1.jpg

KANEONE, ISLA DE SUENOS (HEADLINE NEWS) -- The Prime Minister made a statement on the steps of City House today in which he confirmed rumours of an alliance with Giran de Cani. During the statement the Prime Minister said:

Our two nations have been undertaking negotiations over past weeks and I am pleased to announce that we are indeed in an alliance with the nation of Giran de Cani. We feel this was appropriate given the close relations we have with the nation. An embassy has been built in the city of Athena Furiae to show our great friendship. Soon, an embassy for their nation will be built here.

When questioned about Giran de Cani's political status in the world, the Prime Minister added:

We are allies of the people of Giran de Cani and we give our whole hearted support to those who seek democracy. Although we do not entirely agree with the King's ways, we have no right to dictate to a leader how the country should be run. Only if the situation becomes an international concern shall we intervene and aid those who seek a free and democratic nation. Thank you.

In a later statement from the national airline AireSuenos, a spokesman said that this alliance was one step closer to opening up travel opportunities to Giran de Cani and it said that regular flights to the Metropolitan Airport from Kaneone International are now on the horizon.

    NorthShore_Text.jpg

This is the first update in a series which will cover the development of North Shore. The North Shore region consists of the North Shore Country Park (Left), and North Shore City (Right).

    northshore_overview.jpgnorthshore_downtown.jpg

There are four parts to North Shore City; Downtown, Burton on Sea, Little Haven and three southern towns. Firstly we'll look at the Downtown area. In a future update we'll look at the other parts of the area and finally take a look at the area as a whole. Downtown is located in the South-East corner of the district.

The entrance to Downtown from the south comes from the new B2 road. The B2 connects to the new A6, otherwise known as Queens Avenue.

    NorthShore_Downtown_Entrance.jpg

The A6 continues through Downtown and is lined by trees, residential buildings and Downtown's Commercial and Financial centres.

    NorthShore_Downtown_QueensAvenue.jpg

In the centre of Downtown is Queen's Sqaure which has four statues in each corner, each one represents a famous person who has contributed to the nation.

    NorthShore_Downtown_QueensSq.jpg

Downtown's financial district is packed with large buildings which have been built in record time. Construction workers from around the world were drafted in to build the mass of buildings in record time, which were quickly filled by companies who offered their workers the relaxation of being by the sea.

    NorthShore_Downtown_Financial.jpg

North Shore is also the home of a new brand of privatised Colleges. Offering the best further education and an array of courses, North Shore City College is the first of it's kind on the island.

    NorthShore_Downtown_College.jpg

More updates coming soon, including the rest of North Shore and the final overview. PS. This isn't all of downtown - nowhere near the whole of it. Most is a work in progress so this is the most previews I can show at the moment.

Nice work!, i was just looking at Giran! Wow it's very Hawaiian the isle, airport must be it's life line
    quote>

They are. There is only one freight port on the island, which is at the main port of Pearl City. The airports are the island's main source of cargo and tourists, and moving cargo from city to city is mostly done by truck or air as no freight trucks are alowed on the island's national rail network.

Everyone - keep the comments coming, they really give me the incentive to spend even more time with the long development of North Shore.

    hey!
u took a great start on that region!
but maybe u should flatten the land your airports are build on because the first aiport runway is as bumpy as an offroad racing track and the other airport runway im talking about looks to me like an overpass over a hill...
thats no critics, its just for realism cause ive never seen runways like that 2.gif

In the first of a double update, we'll be leaving the North Shore Development project for a while, revisiting Golden Sands to see the newly updated and refurbished Golden Sands Airport, which has rejuvinated part of the Red Sands district which is in great need of re-development.

Golden Sands Airport - Regional & International Hub for the West Shore

The airport serves tourists and business travellers from the United States, Canada and South Americas. The updated airport complex will take on some flights from Waianae International Airport whilst it is also updated. Together, these two airports provide all travel between the island and the Americas.

    <ahttp://www.x2digital.net/cj/goldensands_airport_terminalparking.jpg align=baseline border=0>

The original terminals remain in place but have been completely revamped inside, with all new departure lounges, greater terminal security and an increase in the number of check-in desks.

    <ahttp://www.x2digital.net/cj/goldensands_airport_runwayend.jpg align=baseline border=0>

The original hangers, which are fairly new, have remained. The taxiway which planes use to travel from the boarding gates to the runway were taken up and replaced, increasing the area for turning aircraft.

    <ahttp://www.x2digital.net/cj/goldensands_airport_runwayend2.jpg align=baseline border=0>

At the other end of the runway, a brand new Air Traffic Control Tower has been put in place. Tarmac on the taxiway and aircraft stands was replaced allowing a wider range of aircraft to use the airport. As seen in the image above, brown Boeing 747s use the North aircraft stands. The South aircraft stands have lots for smaller aircraft such as turboprops, business jets, smaller commercial and regional aircraft, and to the left (out of the picture) are several stands for Boeing 707 aircraft, mostly used by the national airline, AireSue

Following on from the updating of the Golden Sands Airport, much of the air traffic arriving or departing the nearby Waianae International Airport was either delayed, diverted or cancelled, and major renevations went ahead including the terraforming and laying of new runways.

Waianae International Airport - Gateway to the Island for the US, Canada and Americas

The Waianae International Airport (Code ISW) was built to handle large numbers of flights. It's two runways meant that it could handle inbound and outbound flights simultaneously and doubled it's flight capacity. The airport which provides the first stop for flights from the United States, Canada and South America got so busy that maintenance on the airport and runway fell behind and was in desperate need of repair and updates. Following the update of the Golden Sands Airport, flights could be diverted and many cancelled whilst the airport was closed for the much needed work.

The terminal buildings remained, however they were completely re-designed inside. The three buildings are now colour coded and provide easier access to connecting flights. The left-most terminal building is for International Departures (see picture below).

    Waianae_Airport_Terminals.jpg

The central terminal building is for International Arrivals (see left below) and the right-most terminal building is for Domestic Flights (see below). The Air Traffic Control Tower remains the same however it's systems were updated and the entire tower was raised higher.

    Waianae_Airport_ControlTower.jpg

The surrounding area also saw hundreds of trees being planted to beautify the area and reduce the adverse affects of air pollution which is produced by the busy airport. The tree lined railway runs to the city's rail station and also splits off to the Waianae Airport RailLink, which provides airport commuters access to the national rail network by hi-speed trains.

    Waianae_Airport_RunwayEnd.jpg

The biggest task undertaken was the new runways which were put in to replace the old and damaged runways that previously sat in their place. A new bigger taxiway has allowed more aircraft to line up besides the runway prior to take off. A new area to the North of the runway also provides parking for business jets and smaller aircraft as well as cargo.

    Waianae_Airport_FullShot.jpg

The airport is accessible directly by road from the M2 Northbound from Golden Sands, the A3 Southbound from North Shore and the Country Park, and also on the B3 from Makaha and Maili. A regular service operates from the Waianae Airport RailLink station which connects to the Western Mainline, giving localised access to Waianae City Station, Golden Sands, Pearl City and North Shore's upcoming Queen's Station. Rail access to all other cities is also provided via King's Station in Mililani, in the centre of the island.

    What's Coming Up...

As the lengthy development of North Shore continues (which is taking me longer than expected), we'll be taking a look at other aspects of the island.

+ More from the Armed Forces and Military bases including the Military's testing ground.

+ Airport upgrade fever has struck as Kaneone International Airport, the island's biggest airport, gets massive upgrades and the airport's man-made island is refined. Meanwhile budget problems force Mililani Regional Airport to delay its terminal 2 development and reduce terminal 1 flights - what will be it's fate?

+ North Shore shows off. The anticipated development of a large area to the North will be shown off to tourists in a celebration with the first tour guide to enter the city.

+ Country Park chain expands. It's a while off yet but the Country Park giant from Birmingsfield (Thanks again to Ill Tonkso) has purchased 3 square kilometers of forest land to produce the island's second country park on the East Coast. Plans were also unveiled to purchase land surrounding the towns of Northfield and Southfield, which are west of Mililani.

So, there is plenty to look forward to. What I would really like is your feedback and even better - your suggestions! What would you like to see in North Shore, at an airport or in the upcoming Country Park?

Please please please post your suggestions - they really do help alot! 29.gif
