This is my first attempt of a building. It is not as smooth as the real Turning Torso, but it has the same effect; the building rotates 90 degrees and a maximum height of 190 metres.
I think the night effect came out too bright, especially from far away. If you think it is okay then I will leave it.

it's awesom!!! it just needs some more fine tuning and it'll be fantastic. although i do think that too many windows have been lit up for night mode. but other than that it looks great

Whoa!  That's definately an original idea.

I agree, it's lit up too much at night...you may want to try playing with night lighting to make the outside area (without the sqare windows) look like they're illuminated from below.  I haven't played much with night lighting yet (gonna attempt it for Vu Medical), but I think it would look better.  You may want to try toning down the stark white a little (at least a little - it's a bit blinding in the daylight - LOL).  Other than that, I see a pretty solid model.

I LOVE twisted buildings! this one is very, VERY high quality too! this is great. yeah some of the lights should be turned off in the windows at night. otherwise, give it up! me want! -drools-

ever think of making a twisting building completely clad in glass 2.gif

I like the one on the right better, even if it has more lights on. It's smoother.

yeah, i thought that too, but i also exported the one on the right on draft. it still wouldn't look as smooth because of the windows so i might just change the intensity of the light.

That might look ok in Las Vegas, as a casino/hotel. It looks like a stack of dice. I'm not crazy about it, but I applaud any creativity.

If you are willing to wait, can you show us a high or medium quality render?

f###ing awesome, i think it looks very futuristic, keep up the good work, a couple more months and we'll have a future tileset.

i wish i could see the 2050 tileset from sc2k on sc4, o well, someday......

now THAT is a cool building. Much kudos to you for creating this... I can't wait to see it on the BATX...

With regards to the lighting, whether cosmetically better or not, I think only having some lights lit at night is the way to go... many more people would, IMO, prefer this if it were uploaded onto the BATX (which hopefully it will be <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/9.gif>)

Also, unless there is a sudden shift to create more of these futuristic buildings, this building will look completely out of place in SC. It's a darned shame, as you've done a really good job and it looks fantastic, but the architecture is too radical for it to be used as anything other than a one-off landmark, unless a futuristic building set materialises...

This isn't a futuristic building. It is a design by Santiago Calatrava which will be completed in a couple of years in Malm

SandraSim has a version on the STEX, if anyone's wondering...although you're right, I think it's time to put this thread to bed. It's too bad I don't have the Horn of Moderators on me...one blow and they come running like a fat guy chasing a hot dog. 3.gif
