What do you want in Cities Xl?

As most of us know, Cities XL is the first city building game that won't use the grid system. It also has curved bridges and tunnels as well as vareing heights (different elevation on each side) of the bridges and tunnels. You can also go straight from bridge to tunnel. It will have rail lines, possible roads with vareing lanes, mini tycoons, flexy roads, draggable elevated roads, wicked animation and much, much more. Personally I would like elevated rail (not elevated rail like in sc4, but like the NAM elevated heavy rail) large rail yards, more realistic airports, roadtop mass transit (bus station and subway station entrances on the sidewalks), larger, more realistic rail stations, high speed rail, and a heck of alot of teraforming abilities. As for disasters I would like flooding, earthquakes, fires, roits, and the big daddy of them all, alien invasion, Indenpence Day syle.

I would like a modern looking skytrain sort of thing that is flexible like this one in Bangkok

I want passengers simulations in airports (in the same city and region) like metro and bus stops... and freight truck traffic coming from neighbors cities to "Main Supply Depot" for goodies delivery 4.gif

Oh yeah, that car! It's really fast, but when you try to make a turn... you know the rest of the story.

Dragable bikepaths could be nice. Bikepaths are pretty common here where I live.

EDIT: how about a UDI-mode in Cities XL, where you really can drive through a city from a drivers perspective?

Id like to have an airport, and have it like the ski resort, were you can control it. So like extend a terminal for more gates and more flights, extend the runway for bigger planes that fly from father destinations.

And id like weather. So it's not sunny every day, one day have clear skies and the next day building cloud cover, and then the day after that you get rain.

I'd like to have a easy-to-use in-game BAT, that resembles of the building creator in Spore (But more advanced of course 2.gif).

Realistic service coverage areas.  As an example.  I would like police and fire services to cover a larger area.  No police station covers single circle of area.  It would be nice to be able to costomize the area of coverage.  Possibly being able to use streets or landscaping features such as rivers to control the coverage area of a single station.

@Steroh: Monte Cristo does think the same about that point. Instead of a coverage circle, the coverage depends on the efficiency of your road network. If there's much congestion, it looks very obvious that your ambulance etc. won't get anywhere. And obviously if there's almost no traffic, the coverage is very large. So I think you will like that feature.

By the way, I would also like some sort of Census in Cities XL, so you can see if your city has reached it's limit or not, and with that information, you can change your building policy.

i want alot but lets make this short i would like realistic disasters and rubble and mabye like a big sea port not like the one in SC4 that was crap a real looking one lots of varity in the cars and people citizens can work at say a peolice station or a school ect. huge varity in buildings from a mobile home to road side cafe to a huge skyscraper and one last thing with the parks let us plan out the parks the way we want to like we can with roads

dont let this game go to a waste make sim city look like pong compared to wii tennis

What I would like is a completely free roaming camera mode that you record movies with. Say your making a movie and you have a giant robot walking through your town, I want to be able to have the camera like it was in the hands of one of the people like in that one monster movie where you barely ever see the monster. Sorry, but I can't remember the name of the movie off the top of my head. Also, I would like realistic looking seasons and weather according to regions and altitudes. Snow all the time in the mountains. Brighter sunlight than normal for dessert regions. That would be nice.

I would like a variety of disasters. Not the unrealistic ones like robots or recycable dinosaurs. Stuff as little as rain, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and llightning. Of course the earthauake and volcano be included but maybe a add a few different ones. Also I would like the airliner crash back from SC2K. And airports that aren't one lot. I would like airports that you can create similar to the RMIP, puzzle pieces. IDK i just want Cities XL to be the most realistic city buidling game EVER!!!

The number one thing that i want is to have some more variation on the roads. Right now they look so... uniform (even with seats/bins/trees placed randomly).

Perhaps some random placement of patches of roads that have been repaired or something would help?

NIMBYism.

It was an ugly word in SC3k, but I think it is a necessary component in a city-building simulation. When there are few / no parks in a specific residential neighborhood, people should complain. As they should when there is poor healthcare, heavy traffic, poor schools, industrial uses near homes, etc. These NIMBY activists would identify specific areas rather than a general complaint and would be persistent. Thus, the player would be oriented away from simple (and boring) exercise in building highways and skyscrapers, but would have a greater investment in improving the city.

Commercial Influences.

This was promised with SC4 but they shied away from it before the release. Museums should influence nearby businesses toward arts, farming uses should influence any businesses toward agriculture, government structures (city hall, court house, etc.) should influence businesses toward government-support such as law and even bail bondsmen.

Well, for those who ask for a free-camera mode, Cities XL seems to work with the whole city as a 3D model, instead of having fixed angles like in SC4. So it would be rather easy to make a free-camera mode 4.gif

For me, I want lots and lots of... well, lots. I want a huge display of buildings, and when you say european style (if the thing is gonna work like this) you get european buildings, this is row houses and W2W bigger buildings. Like any real European city, not that trash they gave us in SC4 Rush Hour (thank god modders and BATters were there!)

Now a stupid one I know, but waterpipes should be more cheap to build when you place them right under roads and streets. The same with subway lanes. In real life those underground networks are usually built under roads or streets to avoid problems, accidents, make it easier to get down there with all the machines and stuff.

Mm what else... Maybe I'm asking too much now, but it would be cool being able to choose from a list what vehicles you want in your city. What model of bus, what type of trams and train systems (in your region or in a larger scale choosing a type of trains, in a closer level personalysing city buses, trams...)

And the more important thing to ask, make this game become a reality cuz everybody down here is dying to play it!

(And the last but not less important thing: we want it on Mac)

Lots and lots of great ideas here, but if it means the game will be pushed back another 6 months, I'd pass on all of them personally. But if I do get to add something to the wish list, it would be the ability to generate a map of your city. I love seeing those in the city journal section, but they take crazy amounts of time to make.

A driving mode like you can see inside the car, and get out of your car, something like grand theft auto but with out all the sex and cursing lol

but, keep it some what violent at a minimum level haha

I want trams, buses, trolleybuses, funicular, subway (which can be up and down on the street), and I want to be able to make routes for them and ride this trasnsport. I want rain, snow and fog. I want embankments. I want to go in to the houses, cafes, shops, etc and see peoples doing theit business there. I want railway station to be not ready, but to give me chance to build them with parts as I want. Subway bridges across the rivers out of the ground. Parks between two sides of the street. Underpasses and overpasses. Elevators in skyscrapers. Restaurants on their roofs to visit them. Trinagle houses to build them on the sharp corner of the streets (like FlatIron in New York), and houses with not square perimeter. I hope, those guys from MonteKristo will read my message4.gif

And stairs to walk on the hills!!!

I want to be able to drive my car in my 3D city, to use airplanes and fly to other cities. And also lots of .dat to modify, different types of architecture with high details and different kind of trains, cars, ships with no limits.

It really sounds like there are 2 different camps here, city planning sim fans & city social interaction sim fans. For a city planning simulation game, driving, prettied up details, & 3d views are pointless frills in my view.

Yeah, a bit of an a-hole comment that will likely offend some people, but I have to be honest. It was all the gee-whiz neato gadgets that killed the SimCity series. Stick to the basics & expound on them.

Things not in SC4 I want in XL:

Freight trucks go to commerce, ports, and railroads.

Realistic prices and monthly costs

Easier modding without having to find loopholes

One gigantic piece of land, not multiple separate cities

Realistic power/water/garbage stats and scaling

ALL of the NAM and STR's features

Easier to use menu system

Subway over subway intersections

Post offices

Middle schools

Congestion tolerance

Camera angles

Accurate pathfinding and congestion simulation systems

Realistic disasters (hurricane, tornado, earthquake, fire, meteor, volcano)

Realistic income sources (different types of taxes, utility bills, etc.)

Commercial customers not based on road traffic

Fixed automata (deserted streets at night, no fading)

NO:

UDI

Coverage radii that are circles (squares would be better)

Funky SCS features

Overly general citizen complaints

Imaginary buildings

I am willing to accept a delay.
