Terrain Mods for Mac

I'm an old sim city-er, but I've just switched to mac and I'm loving it! Plugins are fine, Filejuicer is excellent, but I can't seem to get any terrain mods working.

I've tried Olympic and Columbus, and I've tried them in both Plugin folders (not at the same time of course), starting with zzz to make them load last, with aaa or ``` to make them load first, nothing seems to work. No matter what configuration I try, SC4 crashes upon trying to load a city, showing the "Sim City 4 quit unexpectedly, Mac OS X and stuff are unaffected, IGNORE or RELAUNCH" whatever.

Is there any way I can run aftermarket terrains on a mac?

There is a trick with those exact terrain mods.

I had a problem with them a week ago.

Firstly, make sure you have every file that you need.

Secondly, once you put the .exe through file juicer you should only put into your plugins folder "Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[711500]-15" and "Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[2878705]-17" (the numbers in between the square brackets, eg. [711500] may be different on your computer, im not sure...)

As for others made by CP, you will need to experiment with the files. Its just the ones that end with "-12" or any other variation of number.

What I would do is place all of the juiced files in your plugins folder, run the game, if it crashes take out the last file, and repeat. (remember, only the "-15" (or whatever the number might be) files need to be removed, starting with the highest number and descending)

Also, make sure that there are no other terrain mods in your plugins folder, these include beach and rock mods.

Fell free to ask if you are still having problems

-Hamish

Thank you so much for the prompt reply, and sorry for the double topic post, safari didn't really let me know if anything had happened.

Hmmm, when I juice the .exe file for Olympic Terrain I end up with this:

The Contents of the juice folder:

    dat-

    -CPT_B_OlympicBeach_Optional.dat

    -CPT_C_OlympicCliff_Optional_EquivalentToPegRockMod.dat

    -CPT_No5_RockTextures_Olympic_EssentialButInterchangableWithOtherNo5.dat

    -CPT_No6_OlympicTerrainController_NormalErosion_Essential.dat

    html-

    -CPT_OlympicTerrainMod.html

    inflated-

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[67603]-1.inflated

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[148829]-5.inflated

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[150464]-7.inflated

    txt-

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod(1% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[67603]-inflated(1% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[68227]-un-bzip2ed(21% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[148829]-inflated(94% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[150464]-inflated(9% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[150579]-inflated(25% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[150985]-un-bzip2ed(1% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[573884]-un-bzip2ed(1% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[711500]-un-bzip2ed(1% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[2878705]-inflated(34% copy)-1.txt

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[2883294]-inflated(100% copy)-1.txt

    un-bzip2ed-

    -Install_CPT_OlympicTerrainMod[68227]-3.un-bzip2ed

    URLs-

    -URLs.html

    -URLs.txt

From previous experience, I only put the .dat files in the plugins, but having read your reply, the files that bear the most resemblance to the one's you say to use are of a bizzare filetype.

BTW my plugins folder is scant to the point of being empty, i've got a handful of BATs, a water mod, a rock mod (which both work), and the NAM. There'd no possibility of conflictions.

First of all, you're right. Only copy the dat files. I see two of them above are optional.

CPT No5 and CPT No6 are essential. But I see you're also missing two essential files. Don't forget to download CPT Terrain essentials and install No3TerrainTextures and No4TerrainTextures too!

Yeah, duh, thanks guys, I downloaded all the terrains off sc4devotion you see, and the description there didn't say those files specifically.
