I live in Iowa and know Dubuque very well. This is outstanding work. These sprawling neighborhoods and commercial strips are every bit as beautiful (if not more) than a landscape filled with skyscrapers. Nicely done, my friend.

Hello David!

Nice to see that some (good) things never change -  you're still the master of wasting space. And noone knows to use the PEG Streams like you - the lakeshore looks so swampy I wouldn't go there at all ...

BTW - Did you ever tried the STR? I would love to see some single-track railways here!

Take care my friend!

Wow Mr. Beer, just wow.

I live in Dubuque currently, so if you ever need help naming things or adding Dubuque flavor, let me know, I can help you out.  I am from SE Iowa originally (near Burlington), but have lived all over the state.  Though your creation is fictional, it has that certain midwest "something" and captures the feel of it all.  I too made a run at making a CJ last summer that had a rural theme to it, but that kinda fizzled out when work got way too busy for a couple months.

Again, bravo on your work.

Welcome back Mr. Beer, it's nice to have you back. Another great update of course. I love how spread out the houses are. It gives it a nice rural/outskirts feel to the development. I really like the work you do with custom lots. Everything looks so realistic.

Nice job so far. I like how you use open space within the city and all. I've always had a problem with poor use of open space within my cities.

Hi there!!! Here is the update I promised this week. It's about the town of Saint Donatus, IA. The village (5'456 inhabitants) is situated in the S-E part of Dubuque metro on Burlington Hwy (IA-37, see map on the first page)

Saint Donatus is mostly oriented about small mechanical factories and farms. Also commercial services like Northpark Mall took an important place too. The city has also all the facilities you need: School and college, sport complex, a golf course and a community health center.

Here we go far a small tour in Saint Donatus!

Nice update. I'm enjoying the neighborhood, sports complex, and the commercial development. And I'll have to try out your advice about looking at aerial shots over cities and towns.

I'm particularly impressed with your lotting on this one; how you've created realistic cul-de-sacs by placing 3 houses at the end.
