Vista problem, help.

HEY I'VE GOT A PROBLEM WITH MY SIM CITY 4 DELUXE IT DOESN'T WORK WITH VISTA. I'VE TRIED USING IT IN XP MODE BUT IT DOESN'T WORK. I'VE LOOKED EVERY WHERE FOR A SOLUTION BUT CAN'T ONE PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME

It is not a problem with Vista, too many run the game on Vista, and without using compatability mode.

If you can describe the problem you are having it will be easier to help you.

ok sorri for rytin in caps. my problem is when i try to run the game nothing happens the and minute later so pops up sayin not-respondin or sumthin or it'll turn black thn close its self is their like any sort of patches or sumthin to fix this?

Are you using a wide screen monitor? If so you may need to add a custom resolution tag to the shortcut target.

Please list the computer specs.

If you have vista, and only 1gb of RAM, this could be your problem. Vista usually caches at least 1gb of ram on startup, so you may just be overloading your system!

na i don't think it is cause my friend has the same pc as me and it works perfectly for him

Maybe you could install the sc4 patches from SimCity.ea.com.

downloaded and installed the patches still not working but when i try to install it, it says 'Old File not found. However, a file of the same name was found. No update done since file contents do not match.' this a problem?

I had this problem too. Can't remember the right order but you have to do the updates in the right  sequence. Sorry to be so vague but you need an earlier update first.

I have 1GB of ram on a vista machine and the game runs perfectly for me so oviosly that isint the problem. maybe you could try running the program as a administrator and/or closeing backround programs such as anti-virus software ?

I've never had any issues installing it on Vista, mine is the 64 version from what i see. That's strange

i think i'm just gonna try restore my pc to when i bought so it'll be easier to install =]

ok nw my problem is it opens up but nothin appears its just blank

doesn't matter now i've fixed it all i done was installed directx ( latest version) then updated my graphics card it was easy and simple
