Thanks to everyone for the comments, this is a long project and I'm glad everyone appreciates that.  Just hang in there and soon enough I'll have some great shots to show.

palmgurl:  I'm honored, it really makes me feel like this thing is appreciated when people use their own personal space to recognize it.

very very nice. It would be awesome if you added a little south beach into the picture, that would be great! I live in florida and drive threw miami at least 2 times a week it looks to me the sim roads look so real, that u can use it as a real map! Well good luck with the hurricane...just got back from publix getting last minute items.

beachfrontproperty:  Don't worry, South Beach will come.  The hurricane is just starting to hit us here now, the satellite is out and the trees are blowing, lots of rain.  Hopefully all it ok.

Great recreation.  I'd love to see a few more in-city shots.

Being that I live in Orlando, and have alot of family in Miami, Tampa, and other parts of FL, I'm very happy to see someone do a CJ of this magnitude.  Can't wait to see more.44.gif

This is looking absolutely great. One of the best realsitic made cities. Aswell your taking the proper approach by having a great scale from the looks of it and by laying the roads first. It will take some time to develope a large city as Miami. But when you finally get to start placing buildings and shaping the areas you know well to your version of perfection or immitation it becomes even more rewarding.

Updates are coming, I was without power for a few days after Hurricane Dennis blew by here.  Additionally, I just bought NCAA Football 2006 a few days ago and played that for a while.  The game was kind of dissapointing so I'll be back to working on Miami tonight probably.  I've done a good bit of downtown, but I'm working on getting all of the one ways correct, once that's done I'll post an update (maybe tonight or tomorrow night).  Once I get the roads layed downtown we might start seeing some updates with actual buildings in them as this seems like as good a place to any to start building.  Once again, I really appreciate all of the comments.

If you manage to get an accurate representation of Downtown's confusing one-way roads, and it's even more crazy I-95 exits... you'd be beyond SC4.

But, one thing that is worrying me, is the fact that all of that you've done is suburban sprawl. Any ideas on what to do with all those cars once you start building? After, all Miami lacks a well-planned mass transit system for 'em.

I was wondering if you are planning on incorperating Metrorail and Metro Mover into the city as well as busses????? it would be really cool to take the finished product after you are done and incorperate some of the new tranist ideas in planning and see how they effect the traffic flow in the finished city.

Its good to see someone doing Miami as accurately as possible.

MidtownFreak20:  I'm trying to make the downtown exits and streets as realistic as possible, of course I'm unable to make exits off of the highway from the inside lanes, so that takes away from the realism a little.

In response to both you and otla1 my original goal was to make the city as is, and that's still what I'll be doing first.  After I finish traffic will of course be bad.  To relieve this, I will start building new infrastructure based on miami-dade's master plan for the next 15 years.  It is my intention to see how successful their plans would be in the simcity environment.

I can't wait to see Downtown Miami! Are they're any of the actual building available for download somewhere, or are you going to improvise and use grown buildings?

I was always a fan of TheJerseyDevil's Edmonton and this looks like it will hold up to his standards.  Just from the region shots it is easy to tell that this will be a very realistic CJ.  Keep up the good work!  44.gif

Ok everyone an update should be coming very soon.  The reason it's taking so long is that I'm currently working on the Dowtown/Brickell area which probably has some of the most compicated highway interchanges I've ever seen.  I'm also dealing with puttin in all of the oneway roads in downtown and little havana.

MidtownFreak20:  I've looked on stex and haven't really found any Miami buildings, so for now I'm going to use the in game ones or any of the ones on stex that are similar.  Of course if anyone would like to BAT some buildings for me...

Great CJ!! I love to see real cities re-created in SC4!! I can't imagine how tedious it must be. Keep up the good work!!

    One question though, these on-ramps,
    interchange1withcircles2xe.jpg
Did you make them yourself, or download them?

The ramps look so much better without the little stub of road on the end. I would love to have them!!

EDIT: I do have the latest NAM, maybe I just haven't seen them yet, Thanks!!

If you'll do the whole city with the same attention to detail as the transportation map, we'll have to wait sooo very long, but it will be sooo worth it!

Yeah any hope of an update. I live in Dania Beach and this looks great. I am planning on creating the Hollywood/ Ft. Lauderdale area now. I just got the game so it may take me a while to get up to speed. but this has given me something to do this summer. I wonder if any one here can or knows how to create a BAT of the university of miami? i guess i should ask this in the BAT forum. I think that i will try and recreate all the land marks of the hollywood area for mine. this is pretty awesome.

oh yeah and maybe you could extend the map west to include my old neighbourhood of westchester. like around Bird and 94th ave. I need to create a BAT of my old crib.
