Problem with ploppable RCI...

Simgoober once wrote a tutorial for ploppable RCI lots, which I have tried to find.

Having searched the omnibus and skimmed the SC4Devotion tutorials, I am still unable to find it. If anyone knows where it is, please tell me.

This is as close as I could find. It's Simgoober's tutorial on making functional landmarks...

You could also try this link...

...to get the Extra cheats dll from buggy, it will allow you to place any kind of building without changing anything. Press ctrl-x to open the cheats menu and use "BuildingPlop".

On a similar subject, I'd like to ask another question without having to open another thread:

I've followed the tutorial to make a plobbale RCI lot, which has worked really well. BUT it always gives a water zot and abandons if I don't give it water. I do not want this at all 32.gif32.gif! The problem persists even if I use the Reader to take away the requirement for water.

The lot is dirty industrial, which shouldn't need water anyway. Can anyone help me with this??

Well actually most industrial lots need water. Even dirty industry. So try just try letting it need water and(if you plop it in an industrial area) only give a small amount of water to the area it is in.

I've found out the problem now -

Sometimes the game can get confused and allow a ploppable RCI to appear as a growable. To amend this, Simgoober's tutorial told me to change the growth stage to 255. This causes the lot to demand water, even if the 'water consumed' is set to zero.

So I changed the growth stage back to 1. I suppose it doesn't matter if it grows by accident, but the lot is designed for rural areas, so it shouldn't need water.

If you're making e.g. ploppable farms, you would notice this water requirement, yes.

In the IR Development Exemplar, the Water Supply Cap is set to 3, meaning farms of growth stage 4 and above do need to be watered. Since all ordinary in-game farms are of growth stages 1-3, you wouldn't normally notice this, but with CAM this becomes a requirement for farms of growth stages 4-7.

If you've made the lot according to SimGoober's tutorial, it won't grow by accident. 2.gif

That statement was related to functional landmarks growing on empty lots if made based on RalphaelNinja's empty RCI lots. There's more to read about that if you follow a link in my signature.

With the Water Supply Cap, although possibly important, buildings may abandon due to lack of water if the building/lot's Growth Stage is higher than the Water Supply Cap, even if the Water Consumed property (In Reader/SC4 Tool) is zero or even nonexistent. This doesn't seem to apply to Power Consumed if set to exactly zero, although they still won't develop. I've recently confirmed this, try to see for yourself.

    What is "Water Supply Cap"?

Water supply cap is found in the developer exemplars. It defines the stage at which water is needed. There is also power, park, and fire supply caps. Power supply is set to 0x00 by default, but if you increase it then you can get things growing without power.
