I've got an idea. How about we make all our avatars incredibly annoying for one day? 3.gif

I'm in! But could it be done with MS paint? I only have MS paint as a picture editing tool.

*Hahayoudied thinks there should be an ultra annoying avatars   teenagers day. 3.gif*

Ooooh, you sneaky little you... 38.gif

And I wasn't serious about having annoying avatars. It was a bloody joke. 3.gif

PS: I thought it was Boggy because when I came into chat, he was anything but happy about that little .gif.

    Thanks for that craig....

    Anyway, the date.

I will try and put up a poll to decide what date it should be done.

I also feel that it should be done over the weekend.

PS, if the dates don't fall on a weekend where ever you are, just remember that not everyone lives where you do...

    You are most welcome!  9.gif

(Heh for a minute there I thought that I was on Simpeg with the topic wandering off on a tangent for a bit...  sorry about that I must remember where I am...  XD...  opps forgot that Duke will be reading this thread..  best use the proper smiley..  45.gif  lest I be smitten with the 49.gif)

So... yes the upsidedown thingyaveywhatever.... is that what we are talking about?

Well yes a weekend...  and I suggest ya make it EST... since that seems to be ST Standard Time and most folks seem to understand it....  man if we start messing with the international date line we might have a space time continuium collapse or something...  then we would be well and truly up the creek without a paddle in a canoe held together with number 8 wire and bailing twine...

Let's not get tangled up in Christmas, as some folks have festive avatars...  how about we shoot for mid January?

Oh and Duke...  that is MR. Nursey Boy to you...  16.gif

The 45.gif smiley is more of an "eww" or a wince than an "XD". In fact, due to this forum not having an "XD" smiley, I went and made one, which I've used before: xdtm3.gif

then we would be well and truly up the creek without a paddle in a canoe held together with number 8 wire and bailing twine...quote>

That's an interesting embellishment on that phrase with the canoe part there.

Of course, the actual phrase is "up {expletive}'s creek without a paddle".

Which is odd if you think about it, since you don't need a paddle to travel downstream.

    That works.

I agree...that would be a great time. That way, if that avatar is me, my party hat from the holidays will be removed  and it won't fall off39.gif

One year (last year?  year before?) people put santa hats on their avatars.    I used my poor photoshopping ability to do that.   so far, the trend hasn't caught on.

We can inspire others through witness so that one grows together in communicating. But the worst thing of all is religious proselytism, which paralyzes: “I am talking with you in order to persuade you.” No. Each person dialogues, starting with his and her own identity. The church grows by attraction, not proselytizing.    - Pope Francis

I'll do this thing... on 12/30/08 I'll change my avatar and probably will keep it upside down til mid-January.

Some people have, most of them at SC4D though. I completely changed my avatar, but it has a santa hat still.

I think that January 2 is a perfect day, it isn`t as special as the first of January or 30th of December.

Y'know, flipping these things upside down takes all of 30 seconds....

    clipboardudwz8.gif

The only problem with flipping avatars like yours is that if you do it in MS Paint you'll destroy the transparency. Still, just GIMP it.

It's when you have an animated avatar *looks left* that it's a bit more work.

    Here's what I did:

    1. Open up GIMP

    2. Load up your avatar

    3. Flip all the layers.

    4. Save.

Took less than 30 seconds, too.

PS: I should note that, you want to remember to flip not mirror.

    Mirroring:

    Flipping:

    clipboardnewbs1.gif

I should note that, well, in GIMP anyway, it's best just to flip it both ways (horiz and vert). Actually rotating it with the rotate tool causes a loss of quality.

Does it really matter? Either or qualifies as "upside down".

Really? Odd. Usually quality loss occurs when/if saving in a file format with lossy compression such as jpeg.

Also, can that really happen if your image has an indexed color pallete (as any gif would)?

I'm glad I have a run-of-the-mill MSpaint made avatar... which I discovered doesn't even look good unless you are set to a certain resolution. I think it'll be time to change once this is over. But for the ceremonies themselves, I have made an updated "muck" Til then...
