I dont know if this has been brought up before.. but this would make a good nam request for cosmetic alterations 2.gif so.. maybe ask in the cosmetic name mod thread??

By itself I dont think it would take too much work.. but then again i dont know. W/o the name would require changing out the std ground/el highway tiles for that as well as canging the on/off ramps.. not sure what other files would need to be altered.

Id much rather see a 3 or 4 tile highway set though or a more rural looking highway.. something with an avenue look. The urban highways are nice, but not realistic when travelling in the middle of nowhere.

This is a good idea, if not possible maybe you could make the extra space lanes where cars pull off the road when they break down or have a flat so only texturing would be required.42.gif

Also, for extra realism, can the inside lanes be eliminated and replaced with a grass median for rural freeways, which are often 4 lanes wide except when connecting nearby large cities?

for straight ahead pieces, sure.......it would require you guys to do a ton of editing work however.... you'd have to recreate every highway model in the game and make a duplicate of it as a puzzle piece.

for diagonals, if you did this, you would lose the ability to use ANY square it touched. Look at your picture and you'll see the problems with that. I suppose there could be hacked workarounds to the diagonal problem, but its not a really good feasible solution.

I've always wondered why they never made that option on all the roads.  The ability when the road/highway reaches capacity to widen it.   That would be pretty cool.

That would be really cool -- I've always wished we had more options for highways in Rush Hour. But I would also want a choice. If you changed the highways to make them 8 lanes, then all your highways would be 8 lanes. But 8 lanes is not appropriate everywhere; in fact, the standard 6 lane ones available aren't even always appropriate. I often wish we had simple 4 lane highways, especially in lower-populated areas.

You can always play around with that highway trick and make express and local lanes!

Yes, it would have been nice to have more choice for different types of highways.1.gif

As I was saying, its Semi-possible in some circumstances, but its not really feasible *points*

you're talking about a complete rewrite of an entire 3d network, and even then you cant do the diagonals properly.

Hi guys,

it's a great project , but for expert modders only...46.gif A lot of work is required , not just new textures , but new s3d and others ,  and compatibility with the NAM could be a problem...
