HELP!

First problem:
I cannot get rid of the MySim Window. When I pop up the window to build the MySim window stays up and I can't see my RCI bar.
Second Problem:
I created a new sim and it will not let me drive, it will not let me dispatch, heck, it won't let me do anything in the MySim window that won't close.

Now first question:
I have just started and I cannot build anything but streets. I can't build roads nor highways. Why not?
Second question:
As stated before, I just started, so this might be a new feature but, I can't build bridges nor connect to other cities. Why not?

Well, now I have played long enough to find another problem, it keeps crashing. I will be building something or just scrolling around my town and then it would crash. Plus, I still can't see my RCI bar because the MySim window won't close.

Help?

It sounds like you have a bad installation. Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling both SC4 and RH?

You get this problem when you have 2 different versions of Rush Hour and SimCity 4. If you have English SC4 and German Rush Hour.. then it will do that. You need to have 2 working copies of the same language of SC4... and downloaded SC4 games also do this I have heard.

Well, now I REALLY hate this game! Not only am I having problems with the game, but ever since I installed it I am having Windows problems. I have been running Win XP for over a year and have never had ANY problems until this week when I installed Rush Hour. Heck, I played Sim City 4 for over 5 months and didn't have problems. Now, everytime I log on my computer runs slow, many of my programs crash.

I finally started playing RH and after getting up to about 400 population it crashed and I lost everything. Not only that, I still cannot see my RCI bar because my MySim window won't close. when I go to save or anything else, there is no text on the bars.

I have the English version of both games (got them both at Walmart)

Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE fan of the Sim City Games, but this sucks. I guess it sucks cause I want to play so bad and can't.

OK, let's start from the top. Please reply with what you have for the following:

Processor
Video Card and driver version
Sound Card and driver version
Amount of System Memory
Size of Hard Drive, and space free on drive
Anti-Virus software
Firewall software
A list of all programs running prior to starting SimCity. This includes all anti-virus programs, firewalls, quick-start icons in the system tray (such as those for RealJukebox, AOL IM, etc.), and anything else running.
What, if any, patched you have installed for SimCity.
What, if any, plugins you have installed for SimCity.

Please reply with the requested information, and we might be able to come up with a fix.

Well your computer specs seem to be no problem at all.....

Here's my theory:

Over time, most computers that is regularly connected to the internet tend to degrade and gradually become slower, and most don't even know why. It is probably because there are a lot of spyware, adware, and other malicious programs secretly implant them onto your computer, some that you don't even know about. And trust me, the whole process of malicious software removal isnt as simple as the Ok, norton's done it's job, i must be OK now type of thing; in fact some are much harder to detect than you would think. Try using the program Spybot - Search and Destroy - It seems like it's the best out there, and it is free. Or, try to get into the habit of perodically reinstalling your OS (also format all your drives but be sure to backup your important files). I've noticed that every time I do this, the computer speed recovers a whole lot, in fact only a bit of he difference can ba explained by what I said above. The rest....might even have something to do with the gradual movement of time......well, let's just conclude it's good to refresh your computer once in a while.

maybe you should look into the RH-cd to see whats wrong. its the only thing i can come up with. if it is bad, then just trade it for a new one.

OK, here is my latest news, it gets from bad to worst...

*No text on any of my menus (saving, reconciling, etc).
*Cannot build any roads.
*Cannot build streets over railways (this is my newest bug find).
*It crashes every once in a while.
*Cannot get rid of MySim window.
*Cannot drive car or do any other MySim functions.
*Cannot build one-way streets, avenues, and as fore-mentioned roads.

I am getting real frustrated, and don't get me wrong, I am a Sim fan and still try to play with the bugs I have mentioned, but it is getting way too tedious to enjoy.

Stop hiting your head against the wall. You won't fix anything by continuing to play!
First the most apropried thing to do is to format your drives and reinstall everything.
If you don't don't want to do that, try to get a spyware remover, like adware or something, and, after uninstalling simcity, run it. You will be amazed by the stuf you will encounter on your computer that you din't know you had. Don't quarentine nothing, delete everything.
Then reinstall simcity and rush hour.
I thing this should be enouth.

I have uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled, and reinstalled again, over and over, perhaps, 5-6 times. I have spybot software and THAT is not the problem. And since I have installed Sim City 4 RH, I have installed 2 other games and they work just fine.

yes, I have this exact same problem, it is incredibly frustrating. What do I do? Is there some sort of patch that will fix this?

when you uninstalled simcity DID YOU go to C DRIVE ,programs, and delite the MAXIS folder by hand?

If not you could uninstall a 100 times and it wouldent help .because as long as that file remains in your pc the corrupted file in it over wrights the new installed file recreating the same problem./

HERE IS THE THING YOU DO, because I have a UK SC4 and a US RH expansion.
1. uninstall everything.
2. install SC4
3. get the update for Europe on the official website
4. install update
5. install rush hour
6. I think it should work now?
hope it helps, because I have different versions as well.

Really if you still can't fit it the only way to solve the problem  is to deleate manually all the SimCity 4 folders from your hard drive and get the same version of both SC Vannilia and RH or Deluxe. Neither of these options will cost you a lot these days.
