a few quick questions

Alright, I'll just gt right down to it. In my region, my main industrial city is located between several residential cities. It has 42,000 industrial jobs with good demand for high tech and manufacturing. It contains most of my regions utilities(landfills, hydrogen power plant, water pumps) and I have a few questions about why things aren't working quite right.

1.Water

I am only using about 59% of my water capacity, yet when I go to neighbor deals, my only option is to buy water. I have pipe connections, and the cities around me do need water, and yet the option still remains blank. What am I doing wrong?

2.High density

I have a large area zoned for high density, it is well watered and near a freight station and the highway, and yet nothing I can identify as high density develops. Are my 42,000 jobs not enough to warrant high density construction?

3.Transit Stations

This question is for my region in general. what happens to a transit station when it is over capacity? I have one train station in particular at like 450%, and it seems to be functioning normally.

1. have you tried buying from your current city while in the other city?

2. high density usually requires a population in excess of 150k in order to grow the high density buildings. before that you are likely to only get medium and low density buildings on the lot. also you might try zoning low first and when it fills up, zone over it with medium and when that has all re-developed, rezone on top of the old zone with high density

3. it becomes congested and slows down your commute time. (RL example is the Lexington Avenue Subway lines in NYC [the 4,5, and 6 trains/dark green lines]. the line is ridiculously overcrowded [which is why they are currently constructing the new T train under Second Avenue]. as a result of the overcrowding, the trains get delayed leaving the station because so many people are packing on. that is where an overused station hurts you). i have been experimenting with express lines on rail, el-rail, and subway, and so far, it seems that the sims will use those lines like they are intended.

1. Search "neighbor deals" in the forums (probably Omnibus)... much has been written

2. correct

3. not much until pretty high, then it adds commute delay to those taking the trip

thanks for the help. and yes, I've tried initiating the neighbor deal from all possible angles, but I'll try the omnibus.

    Just my opinion.

    1. Your other city might not need the water. Or it might need more than you can give it. For example 59% of 10 liters is 5.9 L, I wouldn't buy that for my city.

    2. By high density you mean high tech??? then you need to lower pollution in the city to start to attract the high tech.

    3. I think it will slowly begin to run down and get dilapidated. It will also make a slow spot on your transit network.

    Hello Bacon914,

    1. There is a maximum percentage that the seller may be using, and a minimum percentage that the buyer requires; and then if you already have one sell deal in place - the game may not let you start another (of that type), to get around this - close any open sell deals (of that type - say water), let the city run (maybe a month), then try starting sell deals to everyone you want to sell to all at one time.

    2. This is dependant on "Staging" - for full details please see the "CAM" (Collosal Addon Mod) documentation over on the SC4Devotion site.

    3. As long as you maintain Transit Funding - the only problem will be a reduced speed (giving longer commute times) through any such stations.

    Please enjoy the game,

    -NetPCDoc

No detail is too small to be micromanaged.
