They aimed to rid their neighbourhood of drug dealers using stealth, "merciful" force and a cache of deadly weapons.

But two would-be ninjas who dubbed themselves "Shinobi Warriors" have instead been arrested and charged.

Police found the men, 19-year-old Jesse Trojaniak and 20-year-old Tadieusz Tertkiewicz, lurking in a car next to a highway in Clifton, New Jersey, on Wednesday morning, the Clifton Journal reported.

The pair was dressed in black, wearing protective vests and had a cache of weapons in the car, including ninja throwing stars, swords, bows, arrows and nunchucks.

They told police they were on their way to deliver a warning to drug dealers and users in the neighbourhood.

Inside the car were five letters decorated in Chinese designs and containing letters threatening to stop the "cruel and sadistic intentions" of dealers with "justified, yet merciful force".

"The wind guides us to those of impure heart and intent," the letter read.

Both men were charged with weapons possession and Tertkiewicz was also charged with harassment for delivering a similar letter to his 16-year-old ex-girlfriend.

Trojaniak told WCBSTV in New York that the cache of weapons was intended to scare the drug dealers.

"Those weapons, they were just for show, they were just there to make us look as ninja as possible," he said.

"I would never do anything like this again."quote>

Well thats just plain werid. Why whould they dress as ninjas just to scare drug dealers. Only police can scare them or perhaps the FBI or CIA.

you know, it makes no sense that they would look into him having a girlfriend 4 years younger. 4 years is not a large difference. Should all the old rich men with 20-year old wives be investigated? Of course I understand that it is "think of the children" but IMHO it makes 0 sense.

No 4 years is not a big difference, but 16 is under age. A 20 year old should know that.

A college junior  shouldnt be dateing a  high school sophmore.

well actually, 16 is above the age of consent in New Jersey, so there is no investigation needed.

Only in New Jersey......quote>

Excuse me....?

ANYWAY..

I heard about this... But I didn't get to watch it on news 12.

You know you have to admit....They had a nice motive... But trying to be ninjas...kinda failed horridly..

They could have done a lot of other things in turn to rid of drug dealers... And they were bound to be killed if they tried... Clifton is not so good place sometimes..

Oi, some people amaze me on how stupid you can be...Yet...Like stated...They had a good motive...

From one NJ resident to another... GET A LIFE! Sure drugs are a problem, but what is that really accomplishing when all the dealers have to do is pull out their gun.

Caught?!?! They are supposed to be ninjas! They were first discovered and then allowed themselves to be captured alive. . .

They were supposed to immediately commit seppuku.

I can hear it already, "we tried to distract the police and get away, but we couldn't remember if it was the chibi Pokemon or the chibi Doraemon doll that was filled with the smoke bomb powder."

You know, I can't fault their intentions. I have three kids, two of which are teenagers, and the drug problem scares me at a primal level. I live in fear. Daily. I know my kids are good kids, but it only takes one slip-up to ruin a life.

But there are ways to go about it better. Like someone said, a dealer will just pull a gun. What good is a katana against a Glock? Unless your name is Batman, the whole ninja thing is kind of pointless.

And what's with all this negativity to Jersey? I am Jersey born-Jersey bred, and really, other than a few select areas, it's not terribly different than anywhere else in America. Sure, we have some wackos, but so does that rather large cluster a few miles east of Jersey. In fact, there are more wackos just in NYC than people in Jersey. Yet, NJ is the butt of everybody's jokes. Why is that?
