*sigh* Almost to page 2 and still no more comments. *sigh*

The lag is starting to catch up with me in this region, and soon I wont be able to work with downtown anymore. I still have a few things planned, and I hope to get them all done. I am still undecided about the national forest, I may make it half the size it is now. As for the burbs, A few more cities and Verona will be done. Then all thats left is the augricultural area, and the suberbs of Elba and Sagronda. We are officially over the hump.

    Edit:

    Ok, update for today: Catilina

Well, a couply of things happened in Catilina in the past few years, and Ill let you guys decide if its good or bad.

    /idealbb/files/p157.jpg

As the city has grown in size, and this is an Italian region, Catilina has gotten its veary first Mofia!<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/22.gif>

How it started was, I was going to try to make a large, dirty low wealth area. It wroked, but it made half of the city jobless. most of the abandoned buildings are in the mofia owned area (just like in real life) but there were a few endangered buildings that I wanted to keep.

    /idealbb/files/p249.jpg

See the area to the left of the avenue? That is not a section that I wanted abandoned. I'm going to try to revive it till the area is complete but till then...

    /idealbb/files/p335.jpg

I had to add this com center. It is not permenent, but will be there till I can get some decent industry into the neighboring town for the mafia section. Then it will be destroyed.

    /idealbb/files/p422.jpg

Here is a pic of the mafia section and a bit of regular Verona.

Oh one more thing. I MIGHT make a story line for the region once its done or several miny stories as I go along. If I do, which one would you guys prefer?

That downtown area just keeps getting better and better.  I'm having trouble with lag on my computer as well.  I've solved it by setting the city detail to low, and the textures to medium or low while actually building the city.  Then I switch to high quality graphics and reload the city to take screenshots.  A bit more time consuming, but it make the lag less irritating.  So, how many commercial jobs are in the downtown core of Verona?

The mafia area of Catalina is kind of interesting.  Who would have thought that abandoned areas could look so interesting.  Certainly adds variety.

The Population of Downtown Verona is as folows:

    Res:84,432 sims

    Com:263,258 jobs

Funds: 1,010,052,129 (note that this figure may vary because I started out with a cheat that gave me $500,000 and then used weeknes pays for an extra $50,000 no further monitary cheats were used after this point though.)

I enjoy the updates. I've been following it since this city was founded, but I haven't posted many comments. So now I'm going to do that more often. Can't wait to see all those small towns.

I have been working on a brand new city on the Verona Peninsula. Its comming along great too! It is a growing boom town snuggled in between some nice bending farms, the golden Rail line, and a new industry center. It still isnt were it needs to be for me to post it up here yet, so you guys will just have to wait.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/11.gif>

I've always enjoyed this city journal. It's one of the journals that actually inspired me to start working on my own region. Keep up the awesome work and I'll try to leave feed back on a more regular basis.

Just something small to say: Tim, wasn't I the one who inspired you to do a CJ? I could swear I remember you saying that somewhere...........if you did say it, I hereby declare that every city includes a monument to me.

    Hahahahaha j/k man.

Well, kinda Rob. A lot of people inspired me, like Dargor, Joerg (and I kinda stole his style too), and you. Then after I made my first couple cjs, I just got hooked. What surprises me is that now I am inspiring others to make city journals.

Oh ya almost forgot to add a pic of my new boom town.

    /idealbb/files/City

It still isnt what I want yet, so all im going to show is this small pic. The industry just isnt behaving. I keep getting Hi Tech buildings pop up and then abandon because of the pollution. If i destroy it, another one pops up! Im working to fix this, but for today this is it.

Could we have a close up of the beach? Otherwise your boomtown is, well booming.

    P.S. The farms are beautiful!<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>

Umm, what beach? There isnt a single beach in the whole region so far. (that is one of my plans though.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif>)

The region census screenshot looks excellent. <ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/11.gif>

IMO you should maybe start some agricultural or low density developement in the North/NorthEast corner of the region. Connect it by rail and highway to Elba, and also to the South East corner so you'd have a full circle going.

I plan to have a lot of agriculture and small towns in this region. Right now though i'm tying to finish Verona itself. Once I completely finish and revise the peninsula, I will be about half way done with this project. Still a long way to go.<ahttps://www.simtropolis.com/idealbb/images/smilies/1.gif>

Here are some pics of my newest city, Caribaniri. I decided that it would look better as a small town instead of a boom town though. Here are some pics.

    /idealbb/files/p160.jpg

    The city center.

    /idealbb/files/p253.jpg

The newer mock up rowhouses. They were made to look like the older row houses of the city.

    /idealbb/files/p338.jpg

In this pic you can see some hi-tech industry, suberbs, and the rail line.

A close up of the main commercial district.

Nice smalltown feel. I like very much. Can you post a region pic to show where the small town is in perspective to Verona/Elba/Saragonda Bend (sp?)? Keep up the good work!
