The variety of your landscape is just outstanding (to say nothing of the detail, but that really goes without saying). It really does seem like you're playing a whole other game from what I am playing.

WOW, I missed this too long. Your terraforming is just incredible. I love the different landscape. The cliffs, valleys, beaches....46.gif As the others said before, you're an artist in terraforming.

What are those flat white rocks in Willow? I've never seen them before.

Wow, a lot of comments here and so many nice ones....48.gif

Well jeronij, when I had the idea to make the bushmayor plop and I wanted it bad (because I can't make those things myself),so you offered yourself and made it,then it ended up to become much more, right? All kinds of Mayor plops have been done by now and many still to come (rocks, treestumps etc) and now you folks are even creating a waterplop. This is great!! I am glad that you took my request into your hands and started a whole new way to see the mayor plopmode.
Hey, of course I am having fun with the new plops and it shows like you said and it even inspired me so much together with CD's terrain mod to start a whole new CJ. I just had this idea about Lavender......well you know.....I'll get to that later...lol
    Thanks for the comments.

slowhand, thanks a lot, I am glad that it inspired you to open a CJ, well I hope I can visit it soon. Good luck and if you need inspiration, drop in here, maybe I'll help you again.

jacquelina, wanna ride to these beaches? Be at the airport at noon, I'll pick up and drop you right where you want......9.gif

lilou, thank you, but I don't wanna be the King, just be good at it....lol
oroen, everyone's game is so different now with all these possibilties of terrain , water and treemods available. This is great! Thank you for the compliments.

And thanks to all the others. I hope that I will be back soon again.2.gif

That's some amazing terraforming! I fell in love with your region! I can't describe how beautiful it is! Bravo!

I would live on the top of the big cliffs, it must be awesome to live there. (Yeah, but it would be damn expensive)
Anyway... Somewhere in a small village. 36.gif

Yes, the detail is outstanding! The virgin region is so beautiful that I'd be afraid to try building a city on it for fear of spoiling it, but I believe you will not have the same limitations. Good luck.

wow mrbisonm!! this is some of the best terraforming ive ever seen. I cant believe you made a region that detailed by hand. You must have the patience of a saint.

Keep it up and i cant wait to see the completed virgin region, let alone when you start to develop it.

The CJ didn't even started yet and already we're on page 5 and over 2000 views. Great!

Thanks for all the comments. I may add that the terraforming (in general) only took me about 2 and half hours to do the whole region, I did that earlier this summer, just about when CycleDogg announced his terrain mod, and I did it in one evening, so eager to see what his mod looked like in a region. It was just for fun. Then I saw that it came out quite well and thought I might start a new CJ with it and I also had this idea how to make a different one at the same time.
Now, the worst part is still to come, the detailing of the whole region. I will have to terraform and finetune all the cities (counties or townships as I call them) and then also add some trees, brush, wildflowers(a mod that I am working on at the moment) and rocks etc. Plus I will have to do the fantastic waterfalls in Sparrow's Falls and I hope that the ploppable watermod will be ready by then also.
So, you see, there is quite a lot to do, before we start the story in 1951, the day of the re-discovery of the Lavender Region.

Now I will be leaving on a week or so vacation on the Atlantic Ocean with my wife and my best friend and I will be back to continue the *finetuning* of it, but meanwhile here is the beginning of this *finetuning* of the Sparrow's Falls region, where we earlier talked about the many waterfalls it will have. Hey, this is my My first time experimenting with Peg's creek and waterfall tiles, so don't critisize me too hard....lol.
First picture is from the upper part, where the springs are that gather into a pond and then finish into the first waterfall below. Then the second picture below is where the waterfall continues into another one. Sometimes a moose or a deer can be seen here watering.

    1LavenderFalls.jpg

    2LavenderFallsA.jpg

Here is a closer view of the upper waterfalls. If you are patient enough and sit by the rocks near the water, you will surely see some salmon jumping up the falls in the early fall to reach their spwning grounds.

    <missing picture>

And this is the river below, connection has not yet been made, but won't be far from here, maybe on the right side of the upper right small sandbeach. Some remains of an prior civilization seems to be there.........

    <missing picture>

Again, thanks for the nice comments, that is quite encouraging to continue.
Btw, in this story there will be some characters also, but only a few and fictional ones, sorry no members of ST this time. It will be different from Nexis of Genesis.2.gif
Have a nice weekend and week.5.gif

    Hello, Mr. Bison.

As I'm not sure exactly how to address you (mrbisonm, Mr. Bison, Mr. Bison M, etc.), I'll use Mr. Bison unless you have a different preference.

I am so very impressed with Lavender!  Having followed Nexis of Genesis for quite some time, I was very excited when you started your new CJ, Lavender.  What I've seen and read so far has exceeded my wildest expectations for a new CJ authored by you.

    You, Sir, are a master!

To be very honest with you, I have had SC4 since Christmas of 2004 and have YET to actually develop something that I believe is good enough to publish.  Between you, Jeroni, Cjah, and a host of other talented CJers, I am embarrassed to even attempt to post my pitiful creations.  To date, I have taken three different maps and practiced my terraforming skills on them.  Any one of them would make a good region to develop -- I just am having such a hard time getting started.

Seeing what you are doing in Lavender has had a cathartic effect on me -- I have come to a decision concerning what I will be doing in the future.  My latest project consisted of a map 20km by 20km.  I was concerned about its size as it would 1) take forever to completely develop and 2) probably hose my computer once I really started to heavily build in it.  I do like the region and have spent quite a bit of time terraforming it but...

I am going to scrap everything I've done to date and start over with a clean slate.  In order to do this, I have some basic questions I'd like to ask if you don't mind.

Q1)  What is the size of Lavender?  I can't tell for sure but it looks to be 8km by 8km?  Am I even close?   42.gif

Q2)  Have you based Lavender on any map or, have you terraformed the region by hand?
My thinking is that you've terraformed it by hand and, if so, bravo!  You certainly are a master at terraforming.

Q3)  HOW did you create your lakes up in the high country?  Surely, you didn't dig down to the water level otherwise you would have extremely steep cliffs?  Would you mind sharing what you've done?

I cannot help but believe that it would be so much easier (on the grand scale of things) to build and manage a much smaller region than 20km by 20km and, would have to be easier to consolidate or have work together in putting out a good storyline -- both which you do very well.

So, given what you've done with Lavender, I intend the following:

P1)  I am going to start a new region -- probably not much (if at all) bigger than 8km to 10km.  (I need to really think about the size issue.)

P2)  I will more than likely terraform it by hand creating a region from that part of my brain that is weird and twisted.  2.gif

P3)  Certainly, a storyline is a MUST to evolve with the region.

Well...  Enough of myself and my plans.  After all, this is YOUR CJ, not my forum to air my plans.

Lavender has become one of my joys.  I look forward to each update with anticipation and am not disapointed by what I see.  You have done such excellent work on this beautiful region and, yet, you say you haven't even gotten started?  Well, I believe that if you finished the journal today, it would stand as a monument to your creativity!

Mr. Bison, thank you so very much for the inspiration you've become to me.  Currently, Cjah, Jeroni and yourself are my mentors and I thank you and each of them for sharing your creativity with us.

You've mentioned in the past that it is okay with you if I use your ideas in my own CJ.  Given what you've told me and that the highest form of praise and respect is emulation, prepare to be very respected and have heaps of praise placed upon your shoulders.

Thank you, Dear Sir, for Lavender, Nexis of Genesis and, for sharing yourself.

    Regards,

    Vandy

[EDIT done on 04 August, 2005]

    Hello, Mr. Bison.

I certainly hope you're enjoying your vacation!

I went back and reread the entire Lavender journal and believe I've found answers to some of my questions as detailed below:

Q1)  Based on a region picture I saw in one of you last updates, it would appear that your region is indeed 8km x 8km.  (I'm referring to the Lavender Region picture you posted on 7/25/05 7:47:08 PM, picture 8Lavenderregioncomplborders.jpg.)  Do you find it better to use medium cities with no small cities and only 1 or 2 large cities?

Q2)  It would seem from what I've read that you've hand-terraformed your lavender region.  Do you use any terrain generating or help tools or, do you (as I believe) completely terraform your regions by hand?

Q3)  I am still unclear, however, as to how you made the lakes I've seen.  I've read references to your using Lots from PEG -- ponds and/or rivers?  I've look at those Lots but can't see how they would be used to make these beautiful and beautifully-colored lakes.  I'll wait for you to return from vacation to find out how you do it.

    Looking forward to your return.

[END EDIT on 04 August, 2005]

In the end you will see, You is you and me is me.

This is by far the most beautiful region I have seen of SC4 when it comes to creating it (with no villages or cities). When will we be seeing more of this eye-candy? Can't wait for more screenshots!

    Keep up the good work!

Great landscape pics, like no other I have seen before. Who needs a city when the landscape looks this great.  I just want to know how to get there so I can go camping.
