Greetings all and welcome to the City of Kitchener.  This CJ is a continuation of Kitchener's bid for the August Simlypics.  Although the City of Kitchener may not be awarded the upcoming Simlympics Kitchener will continue to strive for the best in sports as well as an outstanding location to raise families and have a great time.

Here is our story about our bid for the August Simlympics:

Early July 2008,

It is with great pleasure that the city of Kitchener is putting in their bid to host the August 2008 Simlympics. The greater Kitchener metro area now holds over 150,000 great sport fans and have enthusiastically embraced the nomination. This is Kitcheners first bid attempt to hold the Simlympics.

Kitchener is currently ramping up for hosting of the Simlympics and have recently accquired over $420 Million U.S. Dollars in Private funding as well as $180 Million in federal and state funding for venues and infrastructure. Kitchener Regional Airport is fully functional (above picture) and will be used for additional flights after Kitchener International Airport (K.I.A.) and Transportation Hub is completed. Below you will find several updates to K.I.A. including the New Terminal and Parking Areas, K.I.A. Monorail and stations, Regional Jet Services and Cargo Section #6.

More to come...

July 24, 2008:

It has been a hustle and a bustle around the city of Kitchener lately as they continue preparations for their bid to host the Simlypics in August. "Things are going smoothly around the city as we continue construction," Mayor Daddio stated this morning during his daily press conference. Official photos have now been released for the latest updates on Kitcheners progress.

The Simlympic Broadcast Center (SBC) is ready to host this years Simlympics. With room for over 10,000 media credentials in the SBC, all broadcasts throughout the globe will comence from this state of the art facility. Located in the picture directly below is the East Kitchener Transportation Hub (EKTH). Due to recent security issues throughout the world Kitchener has made travel throughout the Simlypic Venues accessible only via Monorail, Buslines and Subways. Each of these have Hubs that are outside of the venues in order to provide security screening prior to accessing the main routes within the venues.

Additional pictures will become available within the next couple of days that detail the transportation network. There are no roads that will be accessed by traffic from outside of the security zone. Roads that you see currently are only accessible within the main venue routes.

The EKTH is the main parking area to the East Venues that serves as main parking for the Simlypic Stadium, Baseball / Softball, Cricket, Football (Soccer) and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies. Keep in mind that all venues will be accessible via all transportation hubs.

The main Simlypic Stadium is nearing completion. Please note the Monorail Hub and Subway and Bus Hubs for transportation needs. This location will be the site of Opening and Closing Ceremonies as well as Track and Field Events.

Here is the site for the Baseball and Softball tournaments. Softball has one main stadium and two practice facilities. Baseball has two facilities for both games and practice. Located to the East is Smithson Stadium, host of Cricket and Soccer. Practice facilities are just to the South with one additional Soccer Stadium to be built.

Kitchener International Airport's runways are now complete. The Facility to the South is the Simlympic Official Facility for all of Sim Nations official duties related to the upcoming Simlympics. The KIA Transportation Hub and Main Concourses for KIA are nearing completion and will be updated on this site shortly.

In the mean time Kitcheners are keeping their fingers and toes crossed in the hopes that they show Sim Nation why we are the best city to host this years Simlympics!

Water modd, terrain modd, your CJ is missing so much! Get seawalls, and WAY more custom buildings! Take a look at other CJs here, you really need to work on your city more before you post a CJ. Good luck.

It's an okay start. But we all had to start somewhere. Check out a few CJ's to help give you ideas of what you're creating. Also try using some custom content from this site, and several other sites if necessary. Many other CJ'ers are looking in your journal for custom content being used and creativity. Good Luck to you partner.

Good start, the city is a little bit classic, but I like the idea of simlympic and the sport infrasctructures.

Looks nice, and your Olympic preparations are going well. But I agree with Nihon, get some terrain and water modds in there. At least a water modd.

Haha, so many people hate the stock water! Just as a tip, don't use Jeorg's tropical water mod (I got nagged about that for like 3 months before I changed it2.gif). But anyways, I think your city looks pretty nice. The space around downtown is really nice (perhaps a good place for some trees?) and the city seems to have grown quite well. Keep working at it, and I'm looking forward to seeing how you grow it!
