I do remember seeing a topic by this person who created these double decker highways. Can anyone shred any light on this?

the only way that it could be possible is if you make the second layer of highway you would have to place evry single one

Yeah, I mentioned this in the modding request therad. Well, we already have dual networking in the NAM with E-rail over road, so this can't be that hard to whip up can it? It would be really cool if we did have these. They would make excellent urban freeways.

BTW: Link to a good video of a double decker freeway, the Embarcadero in SF, which was torn down.

Double decker highways are possible but they can't be draggable, and they'd have to be single tile(so top deck going one way, the bottom decker going the other way), if they were draggable there'd be no differnce between single deck and double decker highways.

Fudoka was working on them.

Tampa has a really good double decker toll way

The Reversable Lee Roy Selmon Express Way Lanes (Downtown (Channelside) to Brandon) it is 3 lanes going towards or away from the city depending on the time. This has eliminated all traffic on the Selmon Expressway. Works beautifully.

To be honest I wouldnt care if they were not draggable, they would be so handy but there would also have to be functional interchanges aswell if i was any good at making modds and bats i would do it but im terrible so ya fukuda was trying to im talking to him on live chat now i'd love them (so cool)

THEY WOULD ELIMINATE som many trafic problems

All you need to do to eliminate these traffic problems of yours is set aside another tile for a ground/elevated highway.  It will do the same thing.

I hope that makes sense to you!

It would be much easier to put double decker through dense areas though

They wouldn't. Capacity in sc4 is not calculated per-lane, it's calculated per-tile, so you can stack as many lanes as you want but it will still have half the capacity of a two tile highway

Are you sure it wouldn't have more capacity, say the capacity of a highway in SC4 is 5, then that is 5 capacity over 2 tiles,

whereas double Decker highways would be 5 over 1 tile?

Or it would be 2.5 over 1 tile in which case, you could base the double decker highways off the rural highway (which is a single tile network)

it's more like 5 over 1 tile, so a standard highway has a capapacity of 10, it still has way more capacity than a road, but half than a usual highway

EDIT: Just saw Josefmayor's post, I know very very littke about the traffic simulator(speed and capacity, etc.) I find the whole subject thoroughly confusing  4.gif

So then you just base it off the rural highway.

Are you going to continue with the project, I hope you do.

If your not I'd be happy to continue the project if you like.

What about 2 double deckers side by side? The only real benefit of double deckers is that they conserve space. That 1 extra tile in a line could be made into a road or a street.

There is no official NAM request thread.  However, there is a questions and development thread on the main NAM board.  Just be sure to read the FAQ's and other material before you post something.

https://www.sc4devotion.com/forums/index.php?board=90.0

Its over at the SC4D forums, so you will need to register for an account before you can post.  Make sure you read the member guidelines there because they are different from ST.

Best,

I'm in the NAM team btw,

It's I'm possible to change the direction of lanes, once they are pathed that way, they stay that way.

But an elevayed road of that type is definately possible. Something like this may be released as part of the NWM.

Traffic capacities are not calculated by tile or whatever, but by transit type. If a transit network is based on the street network (i. e. the SAM streets), it will have the same capacity as the streets. If a transit network is based on the ANT/RHW, it will have ANT/RHW capacities. Remember, we cannot add new transit networks to the game, just add new (visual) variations.

to be honest i don't care about capacity i think they would just save space and look good!

also it would be cool if it was released in the next version of the nam. When is it going to be released anyways???
