Get the NAM. Get Cleanitol for keeping your plugins folder in good shape, get DatPacker once your plugins folder size ~

Yeah, the NAM [Network Addon Mod] is certainly one of the things you need... basically what it does is give's you a plethora of new Transport options, including Roundabouts, Tram lines, highway to avenue connections... I mean, alot of stuff I'm sure alot of people of this site take for granted 3.gif

Also, if you have the time and patience... i'd recommend making your own Custom content with BAT/Gmax... it may look intimidating but its not too difficult.

Check out the Omnibus as well

Apart from that, just download things you like! Simple as that 2.gif

what is cleanitol and how do you use it..

also what i think you could do is every building u know and like search it and download it... if its there

anything u like... but make sure u dowload things u like and will like not things where u go... oh thats alright ill get it.. u have to be 100% confident ull like it for ages...

take it from expirience u then have to either delete EVERYTHING and go again or search the many files u dowloaded for what u dont like...

I would recommend a good terrain mod. The Columbus terrain mod is excellent. Also a water mod, Peg has several good ones. Cycledogg's trees are available on the STEX, the mixed seasonal woods is a good one. Check out peg's seaport work. Simpeg is a good site. The NAM is essential. Learn about levelling terrain, there are some great tutorials on this site. I am still a novice, but I learned the most by just reading through the City Journals. Go to the City Journal Hall of Fame. Anduin Valley revisited is awesome and has some great tutorials. Good luck.

fabsies55: The cleanitol is a tool which searches for any dependencies that you may be missing. It's essential if you're seeing those annoying brown boxes in the game.

I would search through the STEX for good buildings. However, due to a recent hacker attack, many of the building's descriptions have been partially erased. Also, when downloading the new buildings, be sure to test them out in the empty cities before starting to use the buildings in your city.

Most importantly, be sure to backup your regions that you made or played in(so you won't lose all your hard work), plugins (so you won't have to go around and redownload everything), and pictures (this is only if you want to, however, if you want to make a City Journal or look at the pictures of your cities' past, them backup the pictures) into a extrenal file storage.

Hi,

I'm looking for help with the eurotextures mod by SFBT

Ever since I installed the April2008 NAM the roads under the ElRail are showing origonal maxis textures.

I cant seem to find any update or even reference to this problem.

Please help as I dont want to have to use the old NAM to keep my eurotextures.

Alternativly if anyone can tell me how to change them myself (I have the reader SC4Tool etc.) I'll give it a go.

Thanks in advance.

Please don't hijack other people's forum.

The problem is caused by conflicts with NAM and euro textures. To fix the problem, you have to remove one of the mods.

Apologies, I did not mean to "hijack" anyones forum.  I am new to this forum thing and therefore was unaware of the etiquette. I just figured seeing as oikruxchaos727 had asked for help from anyone with the time I would ask a question for the same people.

Thanks for the reply anyway.

I guess I may have a tinker with the reader and see if I can change them myself.

Edit:

No need, the Eurotextures Mod at the PLEX is newer than the one on the STEX and resolves the issure (and improves the mod).

Just to get back on topic. (sorry for the intrusion oikruxchaos)  I would agree with El Burro and Unassigned that the NAM is a must. That alone should keep you busy for a testing out all the new transport options.

One thing I would also recommend highly is the SC4Tool or Reader.  With these, (among many other things) you can examine any of the plugins that you download and check that the properties are as you like them. Believe me, that nice looking new station in your city is all very well until you realize it has 10000 jobs and polutes 4 city blocks.

I found that when I first started downloading custom content it became a kind of frenzy ,with each new discovery leading to another download. Before long your plugins folder can become very large and your menus unwieldly.

I suggest downloading one thing at a time and making sure you really want it before adding anything else.

Hope this is helpful, happy building.
