Hi Rictiovarus,

Great update today! Your CJ's are a joy to read, and this one is looking fantastic. You have a very specific style: I could tell your pictures I by your from just looking at them.

I love the port. There seems to be a large variety of BATs I've never seen before, which is always a plus. The way you laid it out definitely makes it feel as if it's been there for a while, growing over time. I think you've achieved exactly what you were looking for!

Again, I love reading your CJ's. I hope this one goes quite far!

Talk to you soon,

Jason

Question; How did you get those trees on the pavement?

    Petertrom: Thanks

OceanMariner: Not as much planning as you'd think. It was mostly improvised.

Psander5: PEGs dock sets are undeniably brilliant, indeed.

Jrhnemo: Thanks! I indeed tried to make it feel slightly older. Thanks for noticing!

    Jacqulina: Thanks!

Meastro444: Yep, I only trust Simcity with suburbs now. the rest is all carefully plopped. Or not at all carefully plopped and then deleted, and plopped in a different way. Whatever works.

SNSA: That's the Street addon mod. You can find it on the Stex I think.

Here we arrive at Gannorein in the north, home to a multitude of factories and other industry, supplied by rail and road.

    sc04x07.jpg

Gannorein also boasts a high standard of living, due to it's relative isolation from traffic and the city itself providing isolation from the industry.

The overpass and highway in the green belt seperating Gannorein from it's industry.

By the way, sorry I've not been here for a while, but I've visited the Le Mans Classic races in, well, Le Mans. It was completely awesome by the way, and you'll be seeing some of the inspiration I got there soon.

    Thanks for watching!

Great job with the suburbs, they look very suburban with those twisty roads and matching homes. Nicely planned industrial parks too (unfortunately I can't say they're "beautiful", haha)

Beautiful work, very realistic on the whole! It reminds me of my area of upstate New York State.

    Best

    OceanMariner: Thanks!

Smarty218: Thank you! I do like that area. If I ever go to America, that's where I'm going to go, New York and Boston and the like...

    Hawkeye9: Thanks!

    Port Sin: Thank you!

Twenty20: Suburbs are the only thing I allow Simcity to do itself btw.

    Jacqulina: Thanks!

Yoder7652: Always nice to see someone enjoying it! Thanks!

In lieu of some pictures, I'd thought I'd share some background information:

    Grand Barony of Harroning

    -Capital city: Donarheim

    -Population: appr. 2 million citizens

-Form of government: Constitutional Grand Barony

    -Flag and Coat of Arms:

    hafl.jpg

    haca.jpg

-History: Being a northwestern European country, Harroning emerged at the same time as the others, and mentions of the name Harroning are first made in the 12th century. A part of the Holy Roman Empire, it eventually gained self-rule in the 15th century. It weathered those turbulent times and in the 17th century, like many small countries located on the coast, Harroning turned to the seas and trade, and experienced a great deal of wealth. Several colonies were founded in Asia, and for two centuries, it experienced a Golden Age. Harroning became a patron for the arts, architecture, music and countless other pursuits. Unfortunately, they were eventually engulfed by the other empires of the English, Dutch, Spanish and French. For a long while, Harroning sunk back into obscurity.

When the Industrial Revolution came about, Harroning saw an opportunity to regain its lost glory, and scrambled to get it's industry on its feet. Innovators from all over Europe were lured by Harronings promise of wealth for those who did well.

And it worked. Harroning mineral-rich soil yielded a great many raw materials, and its harbour was thouroughly renewed. Factories sprung up, and wealth flowed again. While its neutrality was respected during WW1, the Germans occupied it during WW2. During these times, the fortunes of Harroning slumped immensely. After the war, due to allied help, Harroning experienced an economic miracle like many other countries, and quickly regained its industrial capacity. A heavy focus on new high-tech industry led to it's continued wealth to this day. Its colonies were returned to their parent countries shortly after the war, but many of those living there chose to immigrate to Harroning to the result that fully 20% of the population is of Asian descent..

Absolutely fascinating history! I love the flag and seal, it's so realistic and historical German looking.

Nice historical background! The graphics are good too. I like the industry in the previous update, especially the concrete fillers you used to buffer the industrial zones from the main roads.

    Hi Rictiovarus,

I feel bad that I haven't posted here in a while...

Anyway, I'm loving your last couple of updates! I agree with Smarty218, the last update does look a bit like Upstate New York (we both live there). Oh, and I must mention that I'm pleased to have you in the IFN! It's really exciting to have a new member.

    Talk to you soon,

    Jason

So, back again after a lengthy pause. I got involved in BATting, which was fun, and I am busy on an interesting project right now. And then I went vacationing. But that's going to have to wait for another update. Also, I joined the IFN!

OceanMariner: Thanks! The idea was indeed North-western European in style.

Psander5: Thanks! You can find them on the Stex I think...

    SirUnger: Thank you.

    jrhnemo: Thanks!

    fourthparallel: Fix'd

Smarty218: I still think we need more members though.

RushHourFreak: Thanks! I've actually improved some of my nature since then, which you'll probably see in the next update.

    dj's girl: Indeed.

    un1: Well, here you are!

    haup.jpg

First off, let's visit the higher district of Vragerwater, called Alderingen. Located on the delta of a river, it's home to wealthy business and residential areas.

    sc05x01.jpg

    sc05x02.jpg

    sc05x03.jpg

Amd back again to Vragerwater proper. Here you can see the neighbourhood which houses the dockworkers for the Docklands. Acces to the docklands is by rail and road.

    That's all for now.

If I were to be honest, I would say that this is one of the best CJs on Simtropolis right now. One of the wonderful things about Harroning is that how wonderfully you've used the Maxis buildings, usually detestable, and re LOTed them so well to that you'd think that they weren't included in game.

Awesome CJ, I'll return to Harroning for sure!

I agree with Simfan, the maxis looks much more convincing than usual.

You do a great job working with those Maxis buildings! I almost forgot they were Maxis! I can't wait for more!

EDIT: Haha, I didn't notice that some people already said that.
