4 Way Avenue Intersection Problem

I hate having my first posts usually being about some sort of problem, but alas that's what it has come to.

Anywho, whenever I build a 4 way avenue intersection it seems to act as well grass... So that means the sims won't ever drive over there and when I try to free drive once I hit some two or 3 tiles away from the center the car slows down immediately and you can see the dirt fly up... just like you would see if you drove over grass.

I tried uninstalling SC4 and then re-install it and I still have the problem. I have the NAM mod running with some additional buildings and such but that's it.

Has anybody else had this problem?

By the way, hi all!

Well, I also downloaded a bunch of BATs and LOTs. Could those have affected my avenue intersections somehow?

I'm totally out of ideas of what could possibly have caused that when I have nothing affecting my roads and such in anyway except the commute time thing from NAM.

If anybody knows anything that can help I'd really appreciate it. I can't play at all right now without my avenues 15.gif

Try renaming your plugins folder to something else and making a new blank plugins folder. If your avenues work, then it is a plugin conflict and you will have to put plugins back in your plugins folder one at a time until you find the problem bat/lot/mod/whatever.

Well, it seems I found the problem layed in NAM.

I don't know what would cause it?

It seems that it visually changes what the avenue intersections look like, maybe that's it?

    Hi Rattler-

    Welcome to ST!

It sounds to me like you need to install the Avenue Turning Lanes option on the NAM, and everything should work.

    Hope that helps!

I just tried that, and made sure it was selected but I still get the same problem.

It's very bizzare, I can't find any other instances like that on these forums by searching.

It could be 2 things, 1 of which i think you already have eliminated.. if when you BULLDOZE and rebuild the intersection and it still acts that way, its because you have parts of 2 versions of the NAM installed. You somehow have integrated parts of 2 different dates of NAM installations.. Remove NAM ENTIRELY and then go to the NAM source at SC4D and follow to the letter the install directions for ALL NAM parts that you are using IN THE PROPER order.

I'll try that, however my game had always been fine up untill I installed NAM for the first time.

After uninstalling SC4 + NAM I had a perfectly clean slate.  So, I installed SC4 + patch and it was fine. When I added NAM it messed up. I doubt I can have two versions of NAm installed.

Sorry if I sound aggressive in any way.

However, I will try that out.

I have downloaded a whole whack of things from here and my sims use the turning lanes, but they also use the middle lane as turning lanes as well (Sorta llike real life lol!) Anyway I am not too sure why yours isn't working, maybe make sure that you are installing the right version, Right handed is Western World, Left Handed is England.

Could it be a sc4 patch issue?

It could be, but I just decided to leave out the turning lanes. Yes, they look great but I just don't feel like trying every little thing to figure out what's wrong. Plus, now I have a new set of problems... Not serious, just visual.

My middle class housing only shows up as the land they live on, like backyard, driveway ect... but no actual house... Though it says somebody lives there and all I don't mind. Just looks silly.

Either way, I finally have my first semi decent city starting up so I'm going to leave it at that.

    Hello Rattler,

Please do make sure you have SimCity 4 Deluxe

    or SimCity 4 + Rush Hour, with all the latest patches;

Then (after installing latest patches) check the in-game graphics settings - at least the City Details needs to be on high, and you may want to increase some of the other settings as well.

If you ever had an earlier version of the NAM installed - and are still using saved cities from back when - then the saved city files may contain parts of the earlier NAM version. Before trying the following - you may want to make a backup copy of any saved city files (in case the following adds to the problems). Normally - if you bulldoze all problems - save - and then rebuild, the older version problems that were earlier saved (with the city) go away.

No detail is too small to be micromanaged.

As is mentioned in the NAM doc's it assumes you have it all fully patched to the updates (they're only what.. 5 yrs old now? 4.gif ) Also keep in mind that probably 30000 or so people use the NAM without your problem.. soooo.... I'll leave it at that.
