Cork is looking good,  a well developed city. The only thing that bugs me is that the graphic options have been turned off for the most part.

Impressive work, both on Downtown Cork as well as the port. What I really like about the port is how you used many different buildings, from Maxis to custom, instead of it being a repetitive row of factories. Also, nice use of PEG's seaport lots as well as those container lots to add a bit of realism to an area that already has plenty of it. You're off to a very good start with this CJ, keep it up! 9.gif

Time for an update and this time we will be moving back to the commerical area and a closer look at some of the skyscrapers.

During the nineteenth century the railway helped change Cork into an industrial powerhouse. On this spot there were large railyards and factories, today only one of the sheds remain and has been converted into the Cork Railway Museum.

Looks Great. I love the Cork Trade Center. And the Waterfront is looking great too!

One Question, What is that building in the lower-left hand corner of the second picture?

That is skyscraper madness! There's a great variety in there, you must have truckloads of plugins.

The CCWTC is certainly one unique building, and I like that. Plus, the wind turbines add even more coolness to it. 4.gif Nice blend of skyscrapers and mid-rises, I don't think I've seen any repetition yet! Lastly, that's a pretty clever idea to convert the train shed into a museum. 2.gif

nottheboss - Thank you, I'm glad you think its realistic

psander5 - The PEG seaports are great just a bit of a faff to sort out.

roboo1 - No, none of the BATs on this CJ have been made by me.

darren - Thats a big compliment, thank you!

Nemesis666 - I turn some of the options off whilst building and forgot to put them back on when taking pictures, doh!

tigerplayer91 - Thank you, again I'm happy that people think its realistic.

ky72x - Thanks alot for your comment, I do like to keep the buildings different for a bit of realism.

edmonton_stinks -  It does look green for an indstrial area, but in Cork we like our trees.

    Explodingsims - This one? https://www.simtropolis.com/stex/index.cfm?id=1964

edmonton_stinks - My plugin folder is about 1.5 gig, hopefully Sim City won't overload with all the plugins!

ky72x - The wind turbines are cool, it took me ages to realise they existed on the building! If you look closely there is some repetition in the commerical area.

Heres a sneak preview of the next update and once again thank you for your comments 4.gif

The univeristy is located across the river to the commercial dsitrict. The area is a mixture of old buildings and new hi-rise development. In the centre of the area is the historic station.

The university specialises in Science and Sport. The picture below shows the science department, with excellent teaching and good links to industry, the department attracts students from across the globe.

In light of the haze and soft-focus you add to your screen caps, your wide shots look like something out of SC3k. And on the off chance you detest SC3k, I don't mean my observation as an insult.

yea i agree with stratus monkey a bit but u should get some night shots of your city not many just a few. and possibly

1 little condensed are of buildings and one to over top every other building maybe tiberian thanefirst or the tornado building would both look good in your city. also

in your city i think it would then look brlliant but i still think you city now

    looks very good.

stratusmonkey - hmmm, I think I over did the effects on the university looking back. Thank you for your comment!

fabsies55 - I did need some night shots, but before I couldn't get it to work. I didn't want to go too OTT with the skyscrapers, as I don't want Cork to look too much like a Dubai. I appreciate your comments and advice though. 4.gif

edmonton_stinks - Thank you again for commenting. Of course not all the residentials are owned by the univeristy but there are certainly alot of places for students to live. 3.gif

Moving away from the hi-rises, here is a teaser of the suburban town of Pewsley just outside Cork centre.

Glad you got the nightlights working, they look great. Once again, I really liked the building variety. It shows even more at night for obvious reasons. 2.gif Nice teaser shot, too. The highway interchange is quite unique. 4.gif

Thank you for your comments, I will reply to them later 4.gif

Pewsley is located on Delta Hill, this height advantage gives residents an excellent view of Corks skyscrapers and the sea. The area was just forest until the development of the railway and later the buidling of Corks motorways, which allowed suburbs to form across the region.

    night.jpg

    suburb3.jpg

In the centre of the town is the shopping centre.

    suburb2.jpg

    suburb4.jpg

The development continues across the motorway and forest.

Great work! Your shopping centre looks like places where I live! I like the way the modest stadium looks in the first picture. The green 'corridors' look good too!

    jacqulina - Thank you!

Ace_F15 - I am delighted that this is one of your favourites.

ky72x - I'm not very good with highway interchanges, I'm glad your liking Cork.

psander5 - thank you, the shopping centre is based loosely off my local.

archesrule29 - I'm glad you think its realistic, I'm sure we can sort you out a house somewhere 2.gif

Now, time for an update. I couple of updates bakc I showed you the industrial port. The mayor of Cork noticed that the small oil refinerey and the containers needed to be expanded, as they could not cope with demand.

    cport5.jpg

Plans were drawn up to build a new port and refinerey to the west of Cork. The plans also included an expansion of the commercial area.

    skyscraper1.jpg

Many new skyscrpaers were built in this area, this is one of my favourites.

    skyscrpaer2.jpg

    skyscraper3.jpg

A new shopping centre was also built.

    mall.jpg

All of this overlooked onto the new industrial port, perhaps not the most beatiful view ever but atleast the men in suits could see their workers sweating away from the computer chair.

    cport1.jpg

More of the port to come 4.gif

Time for another update, yes thats like two in 24 hours, woo. I realise I haven't done many maps so its a bit confusing to realise where all these places are in Cork. So I quickly drew one up showing the new port.

    map2.jpg

Here is a photo I forgot to show in the last update.

    skyscraper4.jpg

So heres the oil refinery. Which is a lot bigger than the one in the old port.

    cport2.jpg

    cport3.jpg

And finally the warehouses from the other angle.

    cport4.jpg

The rest of the port hasn't finsihed developing yet, so we may revisit it in the future. 4.gif

I really like the port, the refinery and the commercial area and how they all work together. The 100 Bishopsgate building is one of my favourites too!

Nice new and improved port! I like how you put the logistics center off of the main rail spur, it's a pretty simple yet realistic thing to do. You're right about the refinery, it's a lot larger than the old one. Nothing wrong with that, it looks even better!
