Hey everyone sorry for the small break in updates, I was in Paris last week and so updates were not possible. As well I have reworked Lorraine a little bit, making it much more of a centralized nation in the Alps. The new nation is mainly situated in the state of Tyrol in Austria, but also expands a little into Italy and Germany. Because of this I have also reworked Chloe", but you will still be able to notice many of the same landmarks, such as the LIC Building or the Queens Gardens, both of which were shown in previous updates.

    Europe_location_LIE.jpg

Hopefully you can tell where the new nation is located, right in-between Austria and Switzerland. Chloe' is located about where Innsbruck would be in real life. 2.gif

    LorraineUpdate11.jpg

Chloe' now sits on a large Glacier Lake, know as Baron lac Rouge.  In return for the harsh climate, the citizens that live here are rewarded with some of the most spectacular views of the mountains and valleys that surround the city.

    LorraineUpdate12.jpg

On the other hand though, most of Lorraine looks like this. Steep cliffs sides shoot out around the Baron lac Rouge as massive peaks incircle the city. There are two levels of fauna, the Boreal  Forest level which sits usually about 200 to 300 feet above the lake, and the "Aspen" level of trees, in which mainly aspen trees, along with oaks, and other warmer weather trees live. The lake is the main center for all wildlife in the valley, and is also the warmest area in winter.

    LorraineUpdate1.jpg

About 68% of Lorraine's population live in rural area's like this.

    LorraineUpdate13.jpg

    LorraineUpdate14.jpg

The Rouge Bastille is an iconic landmark in Lorraine and its history, having held over 100,000 prisoners over its 200 year time as a bastille. It was later nick-named the Rouge Bastille from the amounts of blood that splattered the walls, and from St. Mary's day, on which over 5,000 people were executed inside the walls. Legend holds that there was so much blood it flowed like a river through the streets of Khlon and Chloe', hence why the lake Chloe' sits on is named the Baron Lac Rouge (someone that actually knows german can tell me if thats right). Although the actual history of the Bastille is not as violent as it seems, the bastille today is now the location of the largest park in Chloe'. Over 2.2 million visitors passed through the great halls, and cells of Lorraine's grand history in 2007.

And last but not least, a teaser view of the new city.

Huuh, lucky me that I live in Graz, in the South-East of Austria, otherwise I would have been incorporated lol

And good that Lorraine also covers parts of Italy and Switzerland, as my country is already small enough... lol

Anyway, good update, looking very mkuch forward to more,

Yes the Santa Maria is truly a piece of art.  By debussyman I think?  Gorgeous.  Sorry I missed an update.  7/18:  The castle (??) on the island is perfect.  Beautifully done.  7/31:  PARIS?!  You were in Paris?  Oh, I hate you now lol.  But, I still love your work. 9.gif [i kid, of course] The nature scenes are my favorite especially those 2 little islands.  You would inspire me to go make some nature of my own but I know it would never be as good as yours.   I like the last pic except the tower , it seems to stick out too much.  That is in my humble opinion.  Otherwise, top-notch work Luke!

My favorite picture is the one with the train going next to the Stone Walls. I also like the use of the empty space.

Also, I like your use of Diaganol's!

Good Job I like the new Lorraine alot.

Naturally I will be showing some more of the Fauna and Rural area's of Lorraine because they are much easier to create then the actual cities. Just a regular farm though, but I would like to ask, which way is north?? 17.gif

    Mourgious-Apr-9-001213025-1.jpg

One of the many villages in Lorraine. The majority of citizens live in rural areas like this, living mainly off of what is grown. Because of this lifestyle, Lorraine is one of the healthiest nations in the world, since things like Coke and Hershey's have not been able to expand to area's like this. Although the national lifespan sits at about 74.3 years, in area's like this it is not uncommon to reach 90 or 100 years of age.

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121841391.jpg

Parliament & Queens Garden, although Parliament is not situated here. The gardens are home to the National Parliament Housing Project, which house all members in a lavish style. In the Middle is the Santa Maria Dome, which was built by the Roman Catholic Church in the late 1500's as a second headquarters for the Pope of the time. No pope has actually taken residence in the Dome, but it still offers services daily.

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121841325.jpg

The old town behind the NPHP and Santa Maria Dome. A striking difference can be seen in the nation, on one street modern flats and apartments, and across the street houses that have been in residence for over 500 years.

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121841395.jpg

Known as the center of Chole', City Hall on the left center, the Dresdulf Dome and the old city hall in the top. Chole' is known for its many plaza's and open spaces, and for many parts of the year the spaces are full of venders and shopkeepers. The Louis Vuitton Market in late September hosts well known fashion houses like Fendi and Mark Jacob's and is one of the few times the goods are available outside of the stores.

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121841388.jpg

The Palais de la Famille Royale is the main center for the Royal Family and Lorraine Government. Sitting right on the Baron lac Rouge, the Palais has without a doubt the best views in the city, looking straight across the lake

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121841628.jpg

Although not a member of IPON, Lorraine has opened up offices in the bottom corner, with the entire building being dedicated to the aspiring union and its members. With the SCJU offices almost done with their renovations, the City hopes it will become the center for union to union communication. In recent months the city has been pushing hard for offices from most major unions to open up in Chole' to create the first Pan-Union Communications Center.

Lucky7 - Haha well I wouldn't want to totally destroy your fabulous nation, but I did want some of it! 3.gif Anyway thanks for the comment!

BlondeTwiggy - Thanks so much my friend, glad you liked it. Yeah Paris, and this week it was Aspen, haha. 9.gif  Anyway thanks for the wonderfully large comment, although I think we already talked about it on MSN. 3.gif

    Sixcentz- Thanks Chris!

panthersimcity4- Thanks so much, that is applying to become apart of CHRONOS, which is a landmark agency for the SCJU.

    Untitled-1-1.jpg

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121915946.jpg

Welcome to the Garange District of the city, located in-between Kholn and Chole'. The area highly differs from large parks and forests to tall office buildings and residential flats.

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121915924.jpg

Pretty much all of Chole's outskirts look similar to this, with massive state building projects to house the cities lower class.

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121915936.jpg

    Gallieo-Jun-1-01121873544.jpg

Considered the downtown area, one of the taller buildings is the Ostalba Embassy, and the St. Jonas Basilica. Waterfront property is also a must see, lined with major designer stores and chic hotels.

    Norms-Jun-1-041218737411.jpg

The URP Embassy. Any nations interested in Embassy's in Lorraine are welcome to ask for one.

Nice work with the realism on the outskirts. It's a little strange how in North America, the suburbs and outlying areas of the city are (with some notable exceptions) noted for safety and idealism portrayed in Norman Rockwell paintings, while in Europe (Paris especially), they are dysfunctional housing projects with all kinds of issues.

More great city shots as well. The German houses look great.

I've been lurking into Lorraine for some time now, I think this might have been the first CJ I've ever seen. As a result:

    1) You really sparked my interest in CJs

    2) You've set the bar really high...

As concerns the previous update - no wonder the Pope didn't want to live there, would you want to cram yourself into a little rotunda-shaped church in the middle of the town and just stick in there?

EDIT: I've read my post and I realized I missed the point. What I meant to say is:

    AWESOME!

Well its been a while, sorry about that. My plugins folder was deleted about two weeks ago now so I am kinda reworking the whole thing, again. The new Lorraine will be a whole lot more realistic with a simi-recreation of Innsbruck for Chloe' and some of the other cities. In the meantime though I will show you what I have been working on, which is two airports. One sits in Eastern Europe and the other will be the new Chloe' International Airport. I really have not done too much at this point considering almost everything will be lot edited together to create a more realistic looking city, so we shall see! 2.gif

    CHLOELOGO.jpg

A banner for the City, and its logo for the SCJU Winter Games, which it is bidding to host.

    East-Tyrol-Jan-new.jpg

Still have some more fauna to do and such, will be calling for quite a bit more work I do suppose. Need to put in parking and some suburban work as well, but it should turn out pretty nice I hope. As you can see there are some similarities to the real Airport in Innsbruck.

Need to work on those trees however. 22.gif

    East-Tyrol-Jan-2.jpg

    Cargo Area

    AIRPLANE1.jpg

And the terminal, which needs to be filled out a bit more. Some more buildings need to be added to make it seem more filled in and to host the International Docking area and a baggage claim area.

    Trisite-Jan-5-00122084171.jpg

Meanwhile somewhere in Eastern Europe another airport can be seen. I had been planning to create a Eastern styled CJ but have no decided to stick it out with Lorraine, and see what I come up with. It is quite possible that this becomes more of a showcase thread instead, we will just have to see.

    Trisite-Jan-5-00122084152.jpg

    Trisite-Jan-5-00122084151.jpg

Obviously missing the planes and such, I had just finished this when I decided to work on Lorraine some more.

And here is the Old Lorraine Airport, that was never shown.

    REPLIES

penguin007- Thanks I like that one too, shows the European bustle and hustle as opposed to the American high-rise ideal.

Edmonton_Stinks- Yeah I do suppose that is an intesting look on it, kinda interesting coming from the United States point of view.

Twenty20- Thanks glad you liked it! 9.gif

panthersimcity4- Thanks for the wonderful comment, nice to see you here.

    roboo1- thanks!

Jacqulina- Nothing as good as the master, haha! 9.gif

art128- well here it is, hope you liked it!

    Whenmonkeysbite- Thanks!!

Framling- Well I am glad that I inspired you, hopefully these images might be helpful to you as well. LOL well I think there are some better CJ's out there, but thanks for the wonderful comment, hope to see you here often (if I would just update once and a while lol 9.gif)!

Your airport shots look great! I'm really sorry to hear about your plugins folder...that must have been quite exhausting to get all your stuff back. God forbid you remake Lorraine with all-Maxis cityscapes.

Some nice airports! Maybe you could split up Lorraine in 2 parts? Eastern & Western Lorraine?

That will give you the opportunity to keep this thread and country, but you could showcase the differences between both regions/communities/...
