    New update coming soon...

    replybanner.jpg

sedimenjerry: When this city tile starts to fill up and the sims decide to move elsewhere. 2.gif

sim-Al2: I thought so. I'll contact my cartographer, but like I said, there's one in the works. I'll announce it here when it's ready. You'll just have to use that overview image of the port I so kindly provided.

psander5: Well, that's what you get when you try to elect people to public office--politics. 18.gif

Invent yourself as big a department as you wish. Just don't kick me out of my office for the space! 2.gif

Renewable's the way to go. These Virginites don't want to make the same mistake their predecessors did by running their city off of 36 oil power plants. I'll build the solar collectors next time I play.

    Hampi: Maps coming your way...

Patricius Maximus: Hopefully. That is, if I can even download them, as one, I don't read Japanese, and two, my computer doesn't even have the character set installed. I have to point out about the oil though, that the amount of reserves the region contains is unknown. There could be enough to last 100,000 years, or just 100. I guess Virgin Oil's fate uis uncertain.

Great update! I like your use of the Street Addon Mod and Gshmails beautiful hotel. This City Journal is really coming along and I can't wait to see where you, and the community, take it.

As Head of The City of Virgin Shores Utilites Commission,

The solar power plant is 6x6 tiles and built, But next to the solar power plant in the west, The VSDWP will construct a 2x4 electrical substation on Coast Hwy, next to the solar power plant.

    supercity124,

Head of The City of Virgin Shores Utilites Commission

sedimenjerry,   No 1x2 solar power plants, the 6x6 solar power plant is already built and more better than the 1x2 solar power plants. The 1x2 solar power plant looked futuristic. So we can't make Virgin Shores FUTURISTIC!!!

DTP: Well, of course the reserves are unknown. Nevertheless, there is a finite supply and is much less than the total solar energy in the same period.

Also, Could I have a congestion report as soon it is convenient? If you could supply it, I'll assess the current state of the transit system.

supercity124: You are the head of the Utilities Commission. As I said before, that's not my department. I was just giving my reccomendation.

psander5: The DOT is not a big department. It's just me, a small staff, and a few aides. They won't be crowding the mayor out anytime soon 2.gif.

supercity124: As a citizen of Virgin Shores (since I'm getting a house) I definitely oppose the waste of space a 6x6 solar plant would create. First of all, it would cut into residential zoning, which is property which should be reserved for our residents. Also, it will provide too much power, as we are a small town, and such a large plant would be a waste opf our tax money. Also, you admit that your actions are keeping us from the future. Why?

Hey! Y'know I have to say I admire your strength, being able to keep everything small for so long (height wise). I always go for the mid or highrise downtown centers. But I can see that you have something going here, and I always seem to keep coming back. Great work with Virgin Shores, it really was a Virgin shore, until your people came on that ferry. I think your sims took away the shores virginity. Haha.

By the way, One member replied to my CJ asking if I would make my CJ, Uniden Town a neighbor City to Virgin Shores, and then possibly look for oil in it. Do you know anything about that since you're the creator?

Really? There hasn't been an update since you placed your request to build it, and DTP said "

I'll build the solar collectors next time I play" In response to psander's PEG Solar Collecter Request. So, I really doubt that it's been built already.

EDIT: Also, if it actually has already been built, I propose we demolish it and and the PEG Solar Collectors.

In regards to the "solar saga" [thanks, psander5 for the catchy name--now it just needs it's own theme music (simpsons movie reference)], I think it would be best to put it to a vote. Peg's vs. the Maxis 6x6. Neither have been built yet. A poll will be up right after this post goes through.
    Now...

    replybanner.jpg

Don't worry people. There will be a new update as soon as the solar saga gets taken care of.

simcityplyr100: Thanks. SAM really adds to a city IMO, and the hotel is pretty good for using maxis buildings.

supercity124: The solar power plant IS NOT built yet. And who are you to say whether or not the city can look futuristic? You need to remember this is my CJ, so I make ALL the final decisions.

Patricius Maximus: Yep. There is way more oil than anything these sims could possible use.
As far as I'm concerned, the DOT can have as much space in the imaginary city hall as necessary. The transportation infrastructure is, in my eyes, one of the most important things a city needs to grow and survive.

DOT: Congestion Report will be attached to the next update, containing data views, and a traffic volume graph.

sedimenjerry: I know how you feel. My link for this CJ's still back on page 3! And no, the power plant HAS NOT been built yet.

supercity124: I could probably do that, but I would like for someone currently unemployed (CJ positions) to do it, as I don't really have the time.

Splime: Let's not argue with one another. I'm done with the solar saga for now. Anyone else who wishes to bring it up can do so elsewhere. No offense intended toward you though.

Archean: Sorry I never left that comment I promised. My internet went out right as I was going to and I forgot the next morning.
Well, I think involving the community really helps that, as then it's not just me giving an update every 10 game years and you guys get to see it in regular time. It will hopefully eventually get to being a sprawling metropolis though.
    Hahaha. Nice analogy. 18.gif
Sure. I'd be glad to be a neighbor city, but the 1000-mile-away-by-sea kind. And I'm sure Virgin Oil would be glad to help you with oil exploration, but you'll have to talk with the company's representative, Santos16. who hasn't been seen around here in a couple days. I didn't send anybody to leave that comment though.

crazyarchitect: Just tell me which one and you can have the house. No paperwork involved. See, that's how we do it here. 2.gif You're welcome to read in on our meetings, but no ticket selling. 20.gif
    Thanks, and you're welcome.

    supercity124: NO IT HAS NOT

Splime: Yep. That's what I said to the letter.
    That's a tempting proposal.

Now in regards to the supercity124/splime debate that took place while I was typing this the first time:
STOP. I am tired of the political debates on here, but I've got an overwhelmingly positive response to the city council, so I'm keeping it, but supercity124: Stop starting trouble, or I'm going to have to call in the Moderators. This discussion has ended.

As Head of The City of Virgin Shores Utilities Commission,

Mayor DTP is right, the 6x6 solar power plant is NOT HAS BEEN BUILT YET, I am sorry for these replies about the power plant. But I will vote on the maxis' 6x6 solar power plant to be built, but it is still proposed.

Very well. The DOT will assess the state of the transit system after the next update.

The Department of Transportation is a small department by choice, as we feel that it is better to have a small, highly skilled staff instead of a large and incompetent one. Not to say that a large staff is incompetent, but we just prefer to have it that way 2.gif.

The DOT is also fully aware of the importance of the transportation infrastructure, and we will work to ensure maximum efficiency of the transit network in Virgin Shores.

I myself think that a vote is the best way to settle the 'Solar Saga', as everyone will have an opportunity to vote and make their choice heard. I voted in favor of the PEG Solar Plants.

DTP: Sorry about the debate, great idea putting it up for a vote. (And that's a pretty catchy name, "solar saga".)

Anyway, if it's possible for me to buy a farm, that would be great! I'd prefer to have something away from "downtown", so that there's no danger of me getting evicted from it any time soon. If I can't buy one, then I'd like to build one, somewhere on the frontier.

The polls don't appear to be working for me... 47.gif It still says there aren't any votes.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The next update will come after the solar saga is resolved.

    replybanner.jpg

    supercity124: Thank you.

nousername: Oh.... I get it now. You want to live in one of the houses, have a cell phone store on one of the commercial lots, and put a cell phone tower on a mountain. OK.

jacqulina: There will be a new update soon.

DOT: OK. And the small staff makes sense. Glad you're department's commited.

Patricius Maximus: That's why I did it. 2.gif

Splime: It's fine, I'm not mad. Psander5 came up with the name, BTW.

Of course you can have a farm. There are two relatively new ones west of the Park Reserve, along Frontier Rd., or you could develop your own.

That's an interesting development going on with the cell phone tower and store.

Also, the recently established Franklin County newspaper, the Franklin Chronicles, has a column detailing the news of Virgin Shores.

I'll be looking forward to the next update and the congestion report.

    UPDATE TIME next!

nousername: Cell Phone store completed, but the houses you requested have been redeveloped by mobile homes, and I'm pretty sure you don't want to live in one of those! Also, I haven't yet built the tower.

Hampi: I tried to look at the polls again now, and they're showing 6-0 for Peg's. I'm going to leave the polls up until tonight, for our friends on the other side of the world, but it looks like Peg's Solar Collectors are definately going to win.

Patricius Maximus: Well, it's what he wanted.

Thanks for the column. That was really nice. Expect to be seeing something similar for Franklin County in the future.

    Congestion reports are in!

    UPDATE 12

The only in-game shot today, here is the new strip mall in Crazyarchitect Corner, containing a Verizon store, by request of nousername.

    CrazyarchitectCornerShoppingCenter.jpg

The Department of Transporation has requested congestion reports on the city, so here is the Traffic Data View.

    Trafficdataview.jpg

As you can see, all traffic is flowing smoothly except for a minor backup at the north end of Main St.

Next is the current graph of traffic volume by type.

    TraficVolumegraph.jpg

And I've decided to throw in a bonus one, showing the citywide average commute time over the last game year, or about the time Patricius Maximus has been in office.

    CommuteTimegraph.jpg

The Department of Health and Education also requested copies of the data views concerning their department.

First, here's the education data view:

    Educationdataview.jpg

As you can see, just about the entire city is neatly covered by the elementary school.

Next is a graph showing the average Educational Quotient among Virginites for the past year.

    Educationgraph.jpg

Lastly, here's a view showing where the city stands health coverage-wise.

    Healthdataview.jpg

This obviously needs improvement, as the current medical clinic is not large enough to handle the entire city's needs. Our options are to build a larger hospital in the center of town, or split this one clinic into two of the same size towards each end of town.

I've also decided to throw in a few random graphs and data views while I'm here.

Here is an up-to-date demand graph: (I'm going to link this to my sig as well)

    Demandgraph2.jpg

Even a slight bit of demand for High-Tech Industrial has emerged.

For the developers out there, here is a view of the Land Value across the city:

    LandValuedataview.jpg

Lastly, here is the region's budget, something I don't believe I've ever mentioned in here. As you can see, we're actually making a good bit of money.

    BudgetPanel.jpg

How do you guys like the color of that budget panel? I had the picture manager touch it up and I think it looks more vibrant and a little crisper. Should I start touching up all pictures?

EDIT: Formatting doesn't seem to want to go through.

Deathtopumpkins: Nice update! The budget looks really nice!

I suggest that we build a large hospital in the downtown instead of the medical clinic, it will have a large covering area and can take in many patients.

The education would also need a bit of improvement but we can take that later when the city has grown a bit more.

Wow. The update's been up for 15 mintues and I'm already doing replies.

    replybanner.jpg

Splime: The farms on Frontier Rd. are Maxis ones at this point, but I just decided to block Maxis farms, so they'll all be custom, and I can make sure you get a fruit-growing one.

sim-Al2: No one uses the ferry. People just use (in order) car, pedestrian, freight truck, freight train.

    Hampi: Thanks.

Good. I have a simgoober hospital in mind. It will be constructed next time I play.

DTP: Turns out, I posted at the same time as Update 12! Well, it was neat to see that data, get a better feel for the place. Also, since you're going to have custom farms, I just don't want a flower one. I don't mind otherwise. I just thought they were Maxis ones (since that pic with "Replies" has Maxis Farms only).
