Oh, I'm sorry about that, PM.  RL happens to the best of us, though.  I'm sure we will be in capable hands under Ntq$310, since he has already done great things here in VS.  He would be my first choice.

EDIT: Page flip bug spotted.

I too will throw my hat in the ring.... a little late, but there was a massive page flip bug and i was not able to see all these comments until today when i logged on.

Any way...... Heres how i stand on:

Airports- i would like to see within a short duration of time the construction of a Regional Virgin Shores Municipal Airport. a small commuter airport that can take sims from virgin shores to larger cities abroad in a nearby radius. in the future, (many a year) from now, this airport should be expanded or a completely new International Airport should be constructed to accomodate VS's eventually thousands upon Thousands of business persons and vacation goers.
Rail- i propose a continuation of VS's current rail network. ontop of that, i propose a new commuter rail corrider to be built between main VS and UN1's new town. also, all railway that interferes with residential and commericial growth should be submerged underground and connect to the proposed VS Subway system (see below under mass transit) for maximum efficiency of both the railways and the land.
Road- Beautified roads (oneways with dividers) along certain routes to encourage high end retail construction and create a "big city" feel in a "small town setting". (and when i say big city feel i do not mean congestion). also, some of VS's roads are in need of upgrades. along with a rail corrider to Un's new town, i would propose have a multi laned road (avenue in game) constructed to bring in commueters that do not want to take the train. this corrider can also serve as a "backbone" in which future VS devolpments can branch off of.
Mass Transit- if elected, i, like NTQ would like to see a contiunation of VS bus network for maximum efficiency. i would like to see the number of bus stops to increase by at least 30% in Virigin Shores to have a bustop every 7-13 tiles in every urban/suburban area so all sims have the accepsibilty to a bus stop, with a concetrated amount in more commerial "downtown" areas and a less concentrated amount in more suburban areas as to not ruin the "effect" of Virgin Shores. (since it says in the manual that sims are willing to walk up to 10 tiles to get to a bustop). ontop of this, in the city in which i live, this is about how the bustops are placed on every block (where one tile = 16 meters). i would also like a small Subway network underneath Downtown and that transitions into railway eventually.
Water: i beleive that water transportation is sufficient at this time (port wise) tohugh i would not be opposed to entertaining the idea of car and passenger ferry terminals in VS and the new towns

To Raise funds for such consturctions to take place, i propose auctioning off naming rights for roads and rail networks.

ummm not to question spore. I actually had the idea of a glr network for the city, but dew to it's current size i dont think it would be efficent enough. But a subway network for a town such as this is a little much i believe.....

also Thank you Patricius, coming from someone who set the Bar and Grade of a Dot head it means alot43.gif

ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to complications discovered in the election process, I will not be holding a special election to replace the DOT Head. Instead, I will take over that position in my mayoral capacity until January, when we will hold new elections. I apologize for any inconvenience.

    oO Whaddi miss?

All these replies, a special election, the ending of a special election, Patricius resigning as DOT head??? This is unheard of! He's always been DOT, that's like, how I first saw him as. wow...life sure changes over time huh.

Well, patricius did have a very good run, and he was the most qualified here when it comes to highway networks. Nick is i believe the second most qualified, or, nick and dtp is the second most.

Edit: Hey! My 500th post! I think its in the right place, Virgin Shores was the first CJ i ignited relations with. 48.gif

Too bad that Patricius is stepping down. This city could sure use your amazing planning skills. I'm thinking about putting up a proposal next update, if that's okay with DTP.

I as usual have a long post, first I would like to ask if all seven or eight or so pics were in that PM to Patricus? second I am happy this is over, however just to say this, I did enter the January Election if that wasn't caught already, third I would like to thank Patricus for considering me for his endorsment and even though the election was cancelled, I congradulate NTQ$310 on reciving the endorsment. Still unable to play really DTP?

Wait I just thought of something, What all departments are there? I remember Safety, Planning, DOT, Recreation or Parks, Health and was education different? anyway could someone list them here? I think I want to run for something else just to try to have a better chance of being on the board. I do want DOT most of all though.

well, elections already. Time moves way to fast. I think DTP being dot will be good because he can make changes without waiting for someone. But i do hope pat gives a few suggestions when he has time.

And i don't think simsamerica and phoenix7 got the post saying that dtp is the dot. And just a bit to add, these department heads really had alot to do this month *wink wink 2.gif

Question: Aren't ferries and other water-based transportation under the Department of Water Resources' jurisdiction?

To search for the ideal city today is useless. For all cities are different. Each one has its own spirit, its own problems, and its own pattern of life. As long as the city lives, these aspects continue to change. Thus to look for the ideal city is not only a waste of time but may be seriously detrimental. In fact, the concept is obsolete; there is no such thing.

JJC12321, I understood that DTP is the Head of the DOT, I was already planning for the elections of all the new Heads of the Deparments at the end of the month, I was saying that I was running about a week and a half early, Also I wanted to congradulate NTQ which I did. I was already in the running to replace Patricius but understood DTP was taking the role until the end of the term, I was only saying that I didn't know if all the pics I sent Patriciuts got to him for him to completely know. Also to congradulate NTQ. Sorry I'm beating a long dead horse here.

multiple tasks from me as usual

    1. ComputerGuy890100, Pheonix7 and I actually announced our canidacies early, DTP likes to start getting the candidates about the 15th, there is still plenty of time to establish your candidacy.

    2. DTP I want to live in Virgin Shores, I want to live in a modest place, preferably the one with the green roof, the one just off VS-1 in the interchange, the one that is the second one to the right on the right. The size of two normal houses, I think it would be 2x2. Its on the main road there, I like suburban life so I would like to live in Oilville. I also like modest life, not too much not too little.

    You'll find it hopefully9.gif

    289completedredevelopment.jpg

I will show a proposal for a college too, I think that it might should go on one of the farms in Neo Follomer. I feel like I'm forgeting something, I'll edit if there is anything I need to add, Ooh, no, just pullin y'alls leg.

DTP: I love how you've run this CJ, and the city itself. But I have a question, and I'm not sure if its for the DOT or Planning chairs: Wouldn't it make sense to leave a little room for expansion on VS-2. It seems to me that even one tile is enough, you can then expand it to an RHW-6C when necessary.

DTP I made some proposals and now I will honor them with a diagram showing them. First, to the department of Planning I would like to make two proposals to you for a University of Virgin Shores. First I would like to make one on unused land between the town of NTQ Park and Virgin Shores, by the Target and Piggly Wiggly from Update 27.universityofvirginshorebq5.jpg

The second Proposal is a University in Neo Follomer, between the town and the Farms on a road I would call University Road, I dont know what that highway is called.

    universityofvirginshoreuf8.jpg

For either Highway I would enjoy it being signed by a sign that says University, Exit Here. Not exactly like that but in a manner similar to signs like on I-95 in VA or I-24 and I-40 in Tennessee, however the Tennesse Ones I mean to go from Chatanooga to Bristol.

I also Proposed a house of Legislature in VS, basically where the Heads of the Departments would meet, I also propose something else, people in charge of different Districts in town. But as for the location of this house  I propose near Target.

    legislaturehouseproposacc8.jpg

If you cant find this location look in the Update 27 picture, Far shot of the new development like Target.

If you deny any of these then please let me know why.

hey sims, just to say there already is a proposal for the land in between ntqpark and the rest of the area. Strangly it was included in the proposal for ntqpark......now exactly why it wasent made i dont know but if you look back at page 60 near the end you can see.

And spore will probably have to approve your collage....where ever he is.

also i dont know why mabey how you made the post, but the images are far apart from eachother, and also take up a large section of the page, with is uneeded, a strange error i believe. ( uses ie )

ATTENTION ALL READERS AND FANS OF VIRGIN SHORES!

I, ComputerGuy890100, annouce my candiacy for the position of the Utility Commission Head for Virgin Shores. I know I have just been here recently, but I assure all who know and love Virgin Shores, that I will make the city more efficent and enviornmentally-friendly. I, along with Mayor DTP, will plan out a more simple and cheaper design for the water pipe system and keep pollutants out of the water. We could also expand the system to assist any new developments that may or may not come in the future, so I propose that we build pipelines that will transport water to residences, businesses and farms in currently undeveloped areas.

I will also deal with the power, by adding more non-polluting power plants to keep Virgin Shores' skies and air cleaner. I suggest solar power plants, which are already in use, along with Geothermal Power Plants on SimPeg.com. With me, Virgin Shores' future is assured to be a bright one, so vote ComputerGuy890100 for Utility Commission Head!

EDIT: The ComputerGuy890100 campaign has released the first campaign button and a banner.

ComputerGuy (can I call you that), I'm glad about your candidacy. The more candidates, the better. More issues are brought forth, and competition for the best agenda is more vigorous.

I'm not endorsing your candidacy, I am endorsing the fact that you are a candidate.

Due to complications discovered in the election process, I will not be holding a special election to replace the DOT Head. Instead, I will take over that position in my mayoral capacity until January, when we will hold new elections. I apologize for any inconvenience.quote>

A rather... convenient complication 2.gif. That's alright with me. You're competent and innovative, as you have demonstrated in your Other Cities.

Lastly, a pseudo-announcement from me. Although it is far from definite, I am thinking a good time for a comeback to the DOT would be Summer 2009, if I chose to seek election -- all assuming my successor(s) do a good job, which I think they will.

I would like to inform all the candidates that, in the unlikely event my successors do not do a good job as DOT head, I may seek election again.

    Patricius Maximus,

Former Head of the Department of Transportation
