I dont remember if I've posted this here before or not, but here goes.

This is a copy of the Toronto "Official Plan" map that I've recoloured to use sim city colours!

Toronto does not use the same R-C-I that we do. Commercial is replaced with "Mixed Use", and Industrial with "Employment Areas". In general, they do transition. I've edited the map myself to try and show the difference between office and service commercial uses.

    Hmm...

Don't forget Downsview and City Center (airport)!

That little hocky stick (so canadien lol) shaped land in the bottom left had corner is also in re-development.

Do you have humber college on that map?

Do you have union station and the GO line marked off?

That area by centenial park should be well to do.

Note where the I-M is (northwest), and where the I-D is (downtown).

Note where possible reward lots can go, the TV Studio (CBC) Radio Studio (Chum) etc.

The map is very well done. I am not sure if all of the maps you created came from the Toronto OP, but here are some of my thoughts. for maps 2 and 3.

Well I agree with Rexdale as a 'problem area' but it is too generalized. Certain communities like Thistletown and along Jane/401 may not be classified as problem areas. I also disagree with the east end of downtown as it may better be classified as 'revitalizing'. Examples include Leslieville and the Distillery District where there are pockets of revitalization are underway.

You seemed to have left out several 'Well to do' areas such as the Kingsway in Etobicoke, York Mills, The Annex, and Yorkville.

In terms of development nodes, spot on, but you could also add the Six Points area which stretches from Kipling Subway Station all the way to Islington. There are lots of new development there from Tridel and Pemberton.

    very interesting.

what i find most so is the vast amount of residential required to support so little commercial development, i guess this is because so much of it is low density housing. i think maybe that this is something that is often forgotten when playing simcity, getting caught up in the glamorous downtown areas with the gleaming skyscrapers and ignoring the humdrum of the endless miles of suburbs and inburbs (if you know what i mean) that make up the majority of major conurbations.

Hey dude, watch the caps lock. Typing caps will only make the mods mad at you. And keep in mind that this map, although really cool and well done, was posted over a year ago.

I love it! I think that I might do that for Seattle.

Ocram's Razor: Though "more things shouldn't be used than are necessary," they're just too fun to pass up! Expect many verbose arguments from me. I will try to write abstracts before or short summaries after from now on.

    Words to live by:
"Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, and to another the word of knowledge according to the same Spirit; to another faith by the same Spirit, and to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit... But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually..." 1 Corinthians 4-11

"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-3

I'm not a Canadian and never been to Toronto, but when I look through these forums and there talking about traffic they always say Toronto is very heavily congested for one reason is because they didn't want to 'Americanize' the highways. Its lay out seems complex the grid like in NY would do wonders and expanding highways wouldn't hurt

:hmph: You're saying that our subway is hard to follow, look at N.Y. or London (link is below). Montreal's subway is all curvy. Our subway is the most perfect subway ever(look at map, then look at the rest of the maps). you can see that our subway is perfect. :]
