United Federation of Eve

Welcome to my first CJ. I hope you enjoy this story just as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.

Here is some background on the United Federation of Eden. The United Federation of Eden (UFE) was founded roughly 5300 years ago when a group of 5 neighboring countries decided that they no longer wanted to be identified by their demographics. It started out very rough, as these 5 countries were comprised of all 6 cognizant species. Humas were the most prevalent followed by the Felidaes, the Lacerts, the Albus, the Deinos and the Garbhas. But after about 200 years all six species were getting together and the UFE started settling disputes between other countries. And after 3420 some years the UFE had expanded to encompass the entire planet when the country of Ceylon pledged to become a part of the UFE. That year was set in stone as 0 Plant Unification (PU) when the UFE became the only country on Eden. Leading us up to the election of 1935, which was the most contested election to date. We now enter into the council chambers right before they announce the winner of the election.

Council Speaker: Ladies and gentlemen the Eden Supreme Council of 1934 PU has decided that Lady Eva Lipton shall be the next Ruler over the United Federation of Eden.

Lady Lipton: Thank you all who have supported me and came out to vote even those who choose not to vote for me. I promise that the next 5 years that we will colonize your moon of Teimr and establish our first space station. And we shall rid ourselves of the trappings of this world and bring our peace into the stars. And it is all because you choose me to lead you into a new era of space travel.  [Lady Lipton continues on how her term in office will bring many great things to the planet of Eden].  Applause erupts from the council room as the newly elected Lady Lipton steps down from the podium. She continues on down to the door and steps out. She continues out to a smaller office where a group of people waited.

Lipton: We did it people. Now comes the hard part, making things happen when they are supposed to happen. Right now Lorvadal is the seat of the new regional capital, but Ferta is going to be the new capital city of the planet. Almora has some of the best spots for a spaceport but how close do we build it to Ferta?

Rick: Well honestly the spaceport should be located here in the proposed city of Agova. Which is located one city over and Cypretona which lies just north of Agova should also benefit from the commerce that Agova will bring into the region.  Your first priority should be getting New Haven to be roughly 15,000 people, then work with the mayor of Ferta on the districts there.  Then the Spaceport.

Henry: I agree with Rick on getting New Haven up and running along with Ferta but Sworcova could increase the regions outlook a lot more then Agova would.  The mayor there is a little iffy but he can be coached on how to handle the city and help it grow.

General Cobalt: I know that I really don’t belong here but from my standpoint all cities should have some sort of airport or spaceport. That should ease some transportation and should appeal to the businesses and therefore attract people and in case anything happens we aren’t relying on one<

Crazy on the Loose

Lady Lipton was touring the town of New Haven with Karen Malist who happened to be an astrophysicist with the University of Eden.

Lipton:  So what do think of joining my staff I believe I might need to replace one.  You come very highly recommended from Dean Yalmer.

Karen: I’m not sure.  Plenty of people consider me somewhat of a black sheep so to speak.  I’m afraid my “connections” might shame you.  And just think of what people think now with the two of us riding together.  I’m certently honored by your offer and I truly believe you can do a lot of good but I believe that I’m not cut out for it.

Lipton:   That’s why I need you.  You are driven by the results not the prestige of the position.  And if you haven’t noticed I wasn’t always the best lab partner either.  Even back to our college years where you pushed your experiments to the limits.  That’s why I’m not concerned about your “connections”.

The car comes to a stop in front of a mid-rise office building.  The crowd was small which both Lady Lipton and Karen were thankful for.  Some Police were present to insure that the Lady of Eden could make her way into the office building with out incident.  The two step out and proceed to make the journey to the doors.

Lipton:  So how is your brother Tom doing?

Karen:  I rather not speak about that right now.  The two of us haven’t spoken for a good 2 years.

Suddenly a man broke through the police line

Man: They are going to kill us!  They probed me to find our weakness!  You need to fight them; they are going to attack!  You need to do something.

The police subdue the man as Lipton and Karen passed by.

Lipton: That man needs some help.  Don’t you think Karen? What?! Karen is something wrong?

Karen:  That was Tom, Eva.  I hope they didn’t hurt him.  I wish I knew what set him off?

Lipton:  I’m so sorry that was wrong of my to talk about him like that.  Is that what you are concerned about with your connections?

Karen:  In a way maybe I’ll take you up on that position only if you promise that you get Tom the best help possible.

Lipton: I will and thank you.

All of the high rises seem to have grouped here.  The tall one in the center is the HQ for Almora Healthcare INC.  And the oval one is Bandon Realtors.  And the twin buildings that are opposite of each other is owned by flooring company.

Oh, I didn't notice this before! Well, it is new and I've sort of been out of it for the last several days. It's looking like a good start. The cities are rather underdeveloped, but I'm sure that's not going to last long. I can't see any of the city pics in the first update though. I can still see the character pics.

First off I've been messing around with a lower end photo editing program and while it does not do everything i wanted it to do I still see a difference in the pictures.   Just wanted to know what everybody thinks of it. 

Impact

TV Reporter: This is Ed Hunley with some breaking news.  At 2:26 am this morning the region of Valnor was rocked by a class II meteoroid that landed a few miles outside of Rimlin. Astronomers believe the object to be roughly 2 tons and approximately 30 feet by 5 feet.  The object is reportedly from the Feredir Nebula.  The Eden Space Agency is asking anybody with video or parts believed to be from the meteoroid to contact them.

Rick:  Captain Craig.  Did you see the looks on the citizens of Rimlin?  They look like they have seen a ghost, all of them.
Craig:  They seem to be positively spooked sir.
Rick:  Yeah.  Its not like this is a Class III meteoroid.  It’s just a plain old metal meteoroid.
Craig:  I doubt they know that much about space.  Did you see that most of them didn't exceed the low-income bracket?  I mean really its not that hard to get an education.
Rick:  Watch it there that’s a low blow.  We are meant to help them out not degrade them. How far are we from the crater?
Craig:  Sorry Sir.  We are coming up on it now.  Light levels are too low right now I'll launch a flare and come around.



Rick:  Whoa you see the size of that thing.  And where did all that water come from?  I wasn't expecting something this large
Craig:  Do you want me to set the ship down somewhere?
Rick:  Do a sensor sweep first I don't want any more surprises.
Craig:  Alright initial results are coming up.  I'm setting the ship to hover mode.  The object appears to be intact at the bottom of that lake.  Composition is 73% metal alloys, 6% breathable air, 3% radioactive matter and 18% biological matter.
Rick:  Life forms?
Craig:  No vital signs detected.  You thing that this might be a person or something.
Rick:  As director of the ESA I would know if this was one of ours but its not.  Can you open a comm link to General Cobalt?
Craig:  Yes Sir.  Patch is coming now.
Cobalt: What seems to be a problem Rick?
Rick:  The object here appears to be some sort of craft.  Origins unknown.  I'm patching through the details now.  I

Here's a region view of the region.  I've been working on Ferta more then anything else, the city directly over the regional name bar.  I was planning on releasing an update on Monday but I've decided to fill in some "holes" I've been meaning to get to some I'm delaying the update until Wednesday where I'll also take you around the city of Ferta.

Bedtime Stories and Legends

Eva Lipton has finally got settled in to the new Presidential Palace in Ferta.  We join her as she tucks in her youngest child Tammy.

Eva:  Time to go to bed my little darling.

Tammy: Do I have to?  I want to stay up with you.

Eva:  Now now darling It’s your bedtime and all little boys and girls go to sleep at this time.

Tammy: Can you tell me a story mommy?

Eva:  Ok.  Umm. I got just the one.  Have I ever told you about the 6 races and the man with the ship?

Tammy:  umm no.

Eva:  Well it starts off a long time ago well before you were born even before me.

Tammy: That’s old.

Eva: Yes it is but listen.  This guy flew his ship from planet to planet exploring all of them.  When one day he found Eden and you found the 6 living peacefully.  Well he didn’t like this at all.  So he told stories about each other.  The 6 started to fight against each other.  Now he was ready to leave when a group decided that he was the bad guy, not them.  So one night they sneaked up to his ship and took it.  He was mad at what the group did so for punishment he cursed Eden with a long winter and he disappeared.  Now the 6 were still fighting until the group told them the only way to survive was to work together.  They did and the winter ended and they were able to live together. But the 6 would always be cursed by the man of the ship.  Because from time to time fights broke out.  So just because someone hurts you and your friends you must not do anything to them.

Tammy: zzzzzz…….

Eva gives her little one a kiss and steps out of the bedroom where her older daughter Emily was standing.

Emily:  Where did that story come from mom?

Eva: Well some people believe that Eden used to be this major space hub for a bunch of civilizations but one day a war broke out.  Eden fell into chaos and wiped pretty much everything out.  It took us a long time to recover.

Emily:  So what do you believe happened?

Eva: I see nothing to say other wise but nothing to prove it.  I really think it sounds too much like a fairy tale for kids and nothing else.

Emily:  What happened to dad, mom?

Eva stops in her tracks.  It’s been some 5 years since the death of her husband and none of the kids know what truly happened.

Eva:  I guess you could know the truth now.  He was killed by a group of people that thought that there<

You seem to have the same problem with Simon Frank that I do with Blue Platter.

It's interesting to see where this is going. Meteors and fairy tales. And I have a sneaking suspicion that at least some of the fairy tale is true...

Pics look good, btw. And, if it doesn't mess up your story too much, I would rather like to suggest a kind of character bio update, so we can get a better grip on the nature of the characters. But that could be just me. I do have trouble keeping characters straight when there are a lot of them. One of the reasons why I can never understand Jane Austin novels.

The story line is very interesting, and I like the manga characters. The city is nice, but extremely repetitive. It makes it a bit more unrealistic.

Character Bios

Following the suggestion of Zel I decide to do a character bio update so everybody knows who is who and what he or she does.  School finals are this week so I don't have as much time to get pictures out for this update but as of the 25th I'm all done with school.  I’m planning on another update to go into details on the races.  I’m planning on incorporating that in to a discussion along the story line.  The wording is a bit awkward at this time but I hope to work it out with the next couple of weeks.  But until then here are the basics of each race

First off the different races

    Humas:  Most closely related to humans: height is about 1.7 meters or 5 feet 8 inches, weight is 70 Kilos or 154 pounds

    Felidaes:  This race is derived from felines: height is about 1.3 meters or 4 feet 6 inches, weight is 40 Kilos or 88 pounds

    Lacerts:  This race is Reptilian in nature: Height is 2.4 meters or 7 feet 10 inches, weight is 120 kilos or 264 pounds

    Albus:  An offshoot of the Humas race: height is 1.6 meters or 5 feet 3 inches, weight is 70 kilos or 154 pounds.

    Deinos:  Very similar to the Lacerts: height 2.1 meters or 6 feet 10 inches, Weight 85 kilos or 187 pounds.

    Garbhas: a midget race: height .9 meters or 3 feet, weight 45 kilos or 99 pounds

The character list is in order of appearance excluding minor characters

Race: Half Humas half Albus

Job: Recently Elected Lady of Eve

Siblings: None

Marital Status: Widowed

Children: 3 Emily, Steve, and Tammy

Bio: Eva’s Husband was assassinated While she was Pregnant with Tammy.  As a mother she is a bit overly protective over her brood.  As a politician she is very decided in her actions and some times a bit demanding. 

Reference: Eva’s creation came about from my mother’s personality with all the character flaws and good nature at heart.

Rick Lamianet

Age: 43

Race: Humas

Job: Director of Eden Space Agency

Siblings: 1 sister

Marital Status: Married

Children: 1 Jacob

Bio: Rick is pretty much the standard husband and father.  He enjoys a good wine ever so often.  His marriage has not been the best in the world but his wife and him are going on 20 years so far.  He has known Eva for a good 10 years.  The death of Eva’s husband is what saved his marriage and he has became the father for her kids.

Reference: Rick is the embodiment of my dad cool headed, not letting things get to him but firm never the less.  Growing up I said I never be like him but after having a kid of my own I realize why he was the way he is and hope I can be just like him.

Henry Williams

Age: 29

Race: Humas

Job: Director of Eden Interior Agency

Siblings: none

Marital Status: Divorced

Children: none

Bio: Henry is hot headed to say the least.  Doesn’t want kids at all.  More concerned about Power then anything else.

Reference: Henry is an offshoot of myself before I became a father only to the extreme a bit more.  He’s going to be interesting to write because we do share a good deal of traits.

General Cobalt

Age: 42

Race: Albus

Job: General of Eden Military
