Well never being to Fenway, let alone anywhere in New England I would have to say no. I do see the point you are making, however, it does seem like they just threw money at the problem. Having deep pockets usually fixes a lot of problems in this money hungry society we live in today. Something, that by no means, was a stroke of genius. I mean correct me if I am wrong, but at the time of last years World Series was Boston's total payroll not slightly more than twice that of Colorado's?

What's amusing is hearing accusations thrown at Boston about how all they did was spend a lot of money to win. A few years ago, you'd hear people say that about the Yankees all the time.

Well, now the Yanks aren't even managing to play 500 ball and they haven't won the World Series in 8 years... but the Sox have won it twice in the last 4 and are moving in and out of first with Tampa Bay (of all teams). And people start to aim their resentment a bit further up the coast.

Just goes to show you that it's not mass hatred of a given team at work here, it's hating whatever team is winning at the moment, provided it's not your team.

....well, at least on the part of most of the county. New Yorkers will still hate the Sox and Bostonians will still hate the Yanks regardless.

-Giambi admits to wearing a lucky gold thong.

That story is wrong on so many levels.

Ken Griffey Jr Hit his 600th.

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280609128

Of course 3 million people will claim to have been at that game.

But wow there was NO crowd there at all. And I thought the Rangers had trouble drawing people.

Congratulations to Mr. Griffey, the first to hit 600 since Hank Aaron did it.

Yeah. You read that right. Tainted "sluggers" don't count.

And Marlin attendance is terrible. I was watching the Sunday game. You could hear the couple in left field whispering to each other. Jay Bruce dove into the stands for a foul ball, doubling the day's attendance.

Yea ive been watching the game. Ive played baseball all my life and loved the game, even though the Rangers are normally so pitiful...

This year they have been an absolute joy to watch. You know they are never out, no matter the score, like tonight starting out down 10-0. It really is amazing how there isnt an out in our lineup. From top to bottom to our bench, every single guy can hit. Our best hitters, Josh Hamiliton, Ian Kinsler, Milton Bradley, Chris Davis, and Michael Young can all hit for average and power. Rallies can start with the numbers 7-9 hitters and the 1-3 hitters.

However, the pitching sure is terribad. lol.

There is another run, 16-14 now 4.gif

With that name, he should not be throwing a knuckler, he should be throwing a zinker.

lol the Rangers are done for...despite its power the offense is wearing out. Meanwhile the pitching just keeps getting worse...the bullpen is wornout, and the starting pitchers that we put out there everyday dont deserve to be in this league.

Alas, it was said from the start we weren't supposed to contend this year, which is why I thought all that talk after the bad start about firing the manager Ron Washington was stupid. Firing the pitching coaches, just trying to make a change, was stupid as well. It wasnt those guys fault, with the lack of pitching talent we have, nobody is going to look good as a pitching coach here.

THANK GOD FOR THE COWBOYS! lol 9.gif

3 shut outs in the last 5 games doesnt boad well.

I think that 19-17 game VS RED Sox just took it out of them.

its more like 4 shut outs in the last 5 games 3.gif

Jon Lester shut them out into the eigth then gave up a few mercy runs. But IMO, this season is just like 04', Red Sox dump a legend, get a karma boost, rocket through august [we were somthing like 20-8 during august 2004]. Jason Bay has been an upgrade over Red Sox Manny [not Dodger Manny] hes faster, better fielder, hits for average as well as power, doesn't strikeout, and doesn't GIDP.

I think our versitile offense [1-6 is all power hitting, elsbury and crisp are great at making one run with their speed at 7-8, only weakness is Verireck] plus our excellent pitching staff [Lester, Dice-K, and Beckett all put up Ace numbers, then add in Paul Byrd, Wakefield] and lastly, a much better bullpen [masterson and now bucholz will fill the holes] will put us in position for another deep october run.

It will be interesting to see who makes it to October. The Angels and the Red Sox both field impressive lineups, Good pitching and solid defense. I would say the Red Sox have a better offense, while the Angles have a better starting pitching staff, and the best bullpen. Not like the Red Sox's starting pitching and bullpen are anything to sneeze at either though...I only can wish the Rangers were half as good...lol..

Fact is, I can only predict up to the ALCS, Boston vs Angels (I hated their name change, Anahiem Angels sounds better to me)

To quote Tom Petty "And Im free, free fallin. Yeah Im free, free fallin"

The rangers are packing up and giving up, returning to their low expectations. Ian Kinsler is probably done for the year with a sports hernia. Michael Young isnt the hitter he once was. Milton Bradleys been injured forever and finding new injuries every other day. The bullpen just is tired.

    4th Place here we come!

Iv always wonder what a Sports Hernia is.

Why Is it different then a  regular hernia?

Does it matter if you get a hernia lifting a sack  of potatoes or swinging a bat?

I dont really see much of a difference between a sports hernia and a regular hernia. Maybe it means you are an athlete or not? I know my uncle had to have surgery for a hernia two years ago. They are extremely painful injuries.

    Rangers set a mile stone.

Josh Hamilton was given one of the highest levels of respect a slugger can get from an opposing manager in Sunday's 7-4 loss to Tampa Bay: He was intentionally walked with the bases loaded.

Hamilton, with 28 homers and 113 RBIs, came up in the bottom of the ninth as the potential tying run. Rays manager Joe Maddon unconventionally walked him to score Chris Davis and bring up Marlon Byrd as the potential winning run.

Reliever Dan Wheeler struck out Byrd to end the game.

He joins a list of  only 3 others

The recipients, in order, were Hall of Famer Nap Lajoie of the Philadelphia A's in 1901, Bill Nicholson of the Chicago Cubs in 1944, and Barry Bonds of the San Francisco Giants in 1998.
