Nam Help-Commute Times

I downloaded and installed nam to help with my commute times but it doesn't seem to be working. I'm pretty sure I put it in the right place(I was confused at first finding the right place on the mac) b/c I did get some of the extra roadways. I only installed what was necessary. Is there something else I have to do to fix my commute times or does it take many sim years to fix on its own?

The following links to the NAM Simulators which will replace the Traffic Simulators in the June 2007 NAM.  These are the culmination of many months worth of research and implementation and testing.  Please, I suggest you download these new Simulators and use these instead.

I recently returned to playing SC4 and one of the first things I did was to install NAM (April 2008 edition) on my Mac. I carefully followed all the instructions, installing all the essential files and one plugin each from the Traffic and Automata Controllers. All the NAM content seems to work fine. However, an issue has arisen with commute times. My Sims' commute times immediately rose to 25 minutes and have stubbornly stayed there, even for journeys of less than a dozen tiles. My city is tiny, only a few thousand strong which makes this impossible, not to mention undesirable. For the record, I installed Plugin A-Hard from the Traffic file. If anyone has any advice about what's wrong and how I can fix it, I would greatly appreciate it.

I think your problem would be that you installed the "Hard" version of the plug-in.

Try the "Easy" version and see if it makes a different.

Personally, I prefer to use both of the "radical" NAM mods in my game. They really do a great job of shrinking the commute times to a more acceptable level. Generally speaking, most of my commute times are now under 10 minutes, which is actually fairly realistic since my usual city structure means that most jobs are very, very close to residences.
