NAM: What do you use the most?

I voted for the puzzle pieces. Mainly because of the overpasses and elevated roads in real life and a vital part of cities that Maxis didn't include in SC4. But I use all of the pieces in the NAM. Every file in the mod is put to very good use in all of my cities.

Custom interchanges, I think we need more variety of them. I know they are hard to make but they add a lot of character to cities.

I use the puzzle pieces most, I havent delved into the overpasses or bridges yet.

hmm seems I'm the only one who picked other so far. The region I'm building (Amherstburg) is pretty basic transportation wise but it does have a large monorail network (A-Train). The northern section of the region is hilly so the NAM's monorail tunnels made my day.

I may be wrong, but aren't monorail tunnels already in the game by default?

Anyway, I voted for puzzle pieces, that's by far what I use the most. I don't have big extensive highway networks so I don't use a lot of custom interchanges. well, I don't use a lot of default interchanges too. But I've started to use the dual network thingy in my last city and I would like to see it available with one-way roads also and other networks.

Other ped tiles textures wouldn't hurt too 2.gif

I use a combination of all items, but I don't really use the NAM puzzle pieces/ped malls often, it's mainly the traffic benefits. I'd use the elevated puzzle pieces IF there were elevated diagonal puzzle pieces!

BTW, there's a typo:

What do you use the most in the NAM &/or GLR? (NetworkAddonMod & GroundLightRail Mod respectfully)
quote>
Respectfully should read respectively.

I really like the ped mall tiles. I just wanted to suggest if it is possible to get graphic quality be better and that they have props on them etc. But other than that NAM is the greatest mod by far. Thanks again.

MonoRail Tunnels are in Rush Hour by default. NAM doesn't actually touch these (Tunnels) at all. Tunnels are actually hardcoded from what I've seen. Street & ElevatedRail are the two networks that don't have tunnels for them.

As for dual networks; the one thing that makes them somewhat more complicated than typical puzzle pieces, is when it comes to a 3rd intersecting network. It's not entirely impossible to do it, just overly difficult. But this isn't really the thread for that.

Interesting results so far with the poll 2.gif.

I use a lot of them...

Anything that adds versatility to the highway is good.  Not only interchanges and ramps, but the small stuff like being able to shift a highway one tile.

Plus, the puzzle pieces are awesome in tight spaces.

First off, Thank you so very much to all who have worked on both the NAM and GLR!!!44.gif I love every bit of it!!!

I can't even imagine playing without those wonderful creations!!28.gif

Anyways, my personal favourite, the puzzle pieces. Especially now with the on-slope stuff, you can make some beautiful creations!!!

The 'highway two tile restriction' was the one thing that use to really peeve me off more than anything with this game. It was my 2nd most disliked thing (after certain DataviewMap stuff). So I changed it! 17.gif. I'm glad others notice it & like it too.

Hi everyone!! I baught SC4 and RH when they came out and I have had sooo much fun playing them, but I have always had problems with congestion until about a month ago when I found this website. I never knew any of this stuff exsisted I knew Maxis had mad some buildings but I never looked at the exchange before either. NAM has been a great help to my cities allowing me to do things with roads I have always wanted to do but couldn't before and there are soooo many new buildings. I use just about everything I know about with NAM I am still exploring the different things you can do with it, but I can't seem to get GLR to work in game. Thank you to everyone who has made a building or a mod because you guys have made this game so much better and now I can play for another 3 years and not get bored of it.

BTW this is my first ever post.

A newer version went public not to long ago, which includes & updates a number of things. See the NAM General Discussion thread regarding the newer version.

    El-rail tunnel (sort of). 1.gif

As for the poll, I'd say puzzle pieces is the most useful, definitely, as well as the custom interchanges. I'd love to see more of either of these.

I LOVE the new NAM(July).  Many new things to work with !!!  44.gif
        1.  I especially like the GLR work.
        2.  Another GREAT addition is the ability to make your own overpasses.

However, I was a bit disappointed to find out:
        1.  The puzzle pieces still don't allow for an elevated rail to keep going
straight while the road below it veers off at a 45 degree angle or visa-versa.
        2.  The angled street also won't work under the elevated rail or with the GLR.
        3.  The only time left turn lanes show up on the avenues is in a orthogonal
avenue/avenue cross intersection that is in-line with the grid.
             > Seems to me they should be in all intersections that cross the median.
