I emailed EA and they said that Destinations is never going to be released on disc except as part of the SimCity Box Set!! The only way, they said, to get it on it's own is via the EA download service.

As a result I have binned my copy of SCS, I am fed up with EA tacking the pee, and have decided to not buy anymore of their games. If only more people would do that they'd get the message.

As I'd already got rid of my copy of SC4+RH this marks the end of my journey with the Sim City franchise, which started right back with version 1 of the game!!

Thanks a bunch EA!

There actually is a law in this country that states corporations like EA must focus on making money.. should we be suprised? I dont think so. Sims 2 on one hand has been tremendously successful for them, but the management is [officially] becoming bored with a game that has practically bug free for a year or so [user created content not withstanding] and in my opinion, they released SCS to compensate for another game's ease of play bugfree. I blame poor management at EA myself, its nothing to do with the fact that they are out to make money. They hire people with degrees in business administration instead looking at those who have developed their games and know the field. Most management people dont usually dabble in software programming, thusly developement time suffers, thereby making the profitability of the game suffer due to bugs/snafus and crashes. Its not all of EA to blame, its those at the middle to the top who look for to their investors whims and bottom lines then taking the time to truly push a game out that people will play for years. I myself have been pondering that Simbox game pack, but I dunno....

EA may never understand that they will go broke if they keep up like this. People will get mad at EA for the high pricing and poor game quality. They will stop buying the games and they will law-off people to count for barely any money. After a while the'll go broke. This might be a long time from now but until then. Watch out bad games will keep coming up...

I already have. The last EA game I bought was NFS Carbon in 2006, and I have no intention of buying another EA game.

So, dare I ask - has anyone bought it? Whats it like? I'm thinking about purchasing the download but other than a few movies and screenshots theres little to go off. Also, do you need to have a full city up and running before you can build you're 'destination' city?

I downloaded the game, as I always try to do before thinking of actually paying money for it. It seems like no game comes complete anymore and all new versions of games are weaker compared to their predecessors...

SCS with destinations still fails big time. I really do not understand the lack of diagonal roads or no rails?? I mean common! When I read that simcity would have a new game called 'simcity societies' I imagined we'd get monorails, trams,.. whatever. Even simcity 3000 is better then this game IMO.

I just hope this game dies a quick dead and a true simcity 5 will come out with stuff that were included in SC4, also stuff made by modders AND new improved stuff. But for now I shall continue to spit on this game as it sux big monkeyballs.

For shame EA, for shame!

After reading everyone's responses to this I'd like to put my two cents in and first say : SHUT IT. If you don't like socities, why play and then complain? Let the people who DO like it, enjoy the expansion packs.

And also, the new expansion pack sounds like so much fun! Sim Socities is my favorite out of the SimCity collection. I mean what is the fun of watching the economy grow it's self when you can place it where you want it? It's not a bad game, it's got wonderful graphics and given it's still got bugs, it's really not that bad.

ANYONE who reads this topic, ignore the complainers. 9.gif The expansion pack most likely won't be bad. If you like this game get it.

^_^ That is all!

NO U

Because people usually have an opinion and it is well within their rights to express how much they dislike the game, as much as you have the rights to proclaim how much you love the game.

The expansion pack wasn't really all that grand. I found myself going back to play Societies which ironically is much better, than with the Destination Expansion. Wonderfull graphics sure, i do agree with you to a certain degree, but the design style is not really of everyone's preference. A little cartoony for me in some way but if you like that then more power to you. The bugs to a certain extent are excusable but that still doesnt make up for the lackluster gameplay.

You're complaining as well, should i ignore you? 3.gif Whoops too late for that.

Let the gamers decide on that.

Have a great day.

I debated downloading the expansion, but I just can't justify it. It seems like a complete waste of money, much like the standalone version.
