Man, I feel like a little kid!

I also remember the "It is safe to turn off your computer" thing, although at that age I had no idea how a computer worked.

I remember fooling with the pixel pattern background for windows 95 (or was it 98?)

I remember thinking Pentium 4s were awesome. (This was before I discovered AMD and general hardware enthusiast knowledge)

I remember when 512Mb of RAM seemed like a ton.

EDIT: Hey look, page 3!

i remembe the "it is safe to turn off your computer" too, it was quite annoying, i'm glad they changed that.

i also remember those huge screens from front to back,

i also remember those "fish eye" televisions; use your imagination.

i remember watching a dvd for the first time and was like, "holy (insert some stuff here), the graphics and sound is amazing"

i remember going to walmart to get the song i wanted to hear

oooh and my favoret, i remember when phones didn't have any internet or fancy ring tones.

and i still remember playing sc4 deluxe on my 128mb RAM, 34GB HD, fisheye, floppy drive / Cd (no dvd) computer and it taking 45 minuets to load, save, and exit the game. and then i played it on my other 512mb computer and i was like "HOLY (use your imagionation) this rocks!"

I remember when they still made cars with crank windows, with non-automatic locks, With no other safety features besides a seatbelt and an airbag. and a cassette player was standard.

...Wait...I still have a car like that!

I remember using the gigantic grey box of a computer that is now being used to make the screen slightly higher.

I remember having to manually turn it off.

And I remember when I first saw XP and thought it was awesome.

Hummer bob 1: Your car has an Airbag? You should see my car. No airbag for me...

I remember my first computer:

1 GB HDD

16 MB RAM

14.4 Kbps modem

133 MHz processor, Pentium 1 I believe (back when processors were still in MHz)

Windows 95 (which had just come out and was the best thing there was at the time...)

3 1/2" and 5 1/4" floppy drives

4X CD-ROM drive I think

Internet Explorer 4 (I think)

And "it is now safe to turn off your computer" and you then had to power it off manually.

All this on a horizontal CPU.

And a CRT monitor (which I've actually still been using until about two months ago when I bought my first LCD)

Now I have:

160 GB HDD

2.5 GB RAM

2.2 GHz AMD Athlon 64 processor

No floppy drives

CD-ROM/CD-R/CD-RW, DVD+/-R and RW

Windows Vista SP1

Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 and Firefox 3.0.3

I also remember when we had to use floppy disks to transfer files from one computer to another and when the first flash drives came out. I don't even think my first computer had USB ports (now I have 5).

I didn't have Internet either and when we got it (56K) it was great, using IE4 I think. I've actually still been on 56K until a few years ago when I moved to college, now I have broadband.

EDIT: ah, and let's not forget SimCity Classic..... 9.gif
