Hello out there, as soon as I'm starting to get some nice skyscrapers and so on I'm getting problem with the pollutions. Mostly from the roads though I almost never build industry and use clean power.

So I was wondering if someone knows of some nice mods to get ridth of my problems? I would prefer more effective trees but it dosn't really matter how it looks. It's important that it helps the pollution done by the traffic.

Searched after it but havn't really found anything that matches this needs. Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong section, please move it.

thanks for the reply but unfortunally I couldn't find anything helpfull there either... I found those "metallic-tree" but they were to expensive for me, covered to small area and didn't looked very attractive. Someone else got something?

Reduce to amount of traffic by building more mass tranit.  If you have a  very good and large mass tranit system, you can try bulldozing the roads that connects the residental area to the commercial area. Make sure the commuters can still go to work by building subway, elevated rail, monorail, railroad, or bus connection that allow the residents to get to work( make sure the bus stations are connected to the commercial roads and the residental roads). Make sure that all the commuters doesn't have to walk far from their houses and walk far to get to work by placing mass tranit stations. Be warned that the commercial may or will suffer from lack of customers.

Well, if you want to do it the old fashion way, I would have a lot of parks and trees and recreation areas. There is also a ordience in the game that lessens the pollution. Hope those tips help you.

Here's a quick bandaid you can put on your pollution problems.  Get rid of your water system and power system.  Then hold down the CTRL key and the X key.  a dialogue box will pop up in the top left corner.  Type in "fightthepower".  Do this again, except type in "howdryiam".  This will get rid of your water and power dependencies.  So you'll lower pollution a little bit and save some money.  Only thing I've found annoying about these cheat codes is your utility guy will not stop yappin about needing power and water.

Another thing, rethink how you design your road system. Don't use avenues as street fronts for ANYTHING.  Use one way streets.  Then go on the STex and find ground level parking lots.  They're made using a parks and rec concept.  They're transit enabled and they also help your environment.

That's a good tip even though it dosn't work on the citys I've built... I usually mix residentals and commercial area's. In each corner of the block i already place one buss station and a subway station so there isn't much private cars running around anyway, the cars stands for about 1/7 of all transportation...

I have also plant thousands of trees in the city but aren't really helping. I don't want to cheat like crew101 suggested, I just want's some help on the way so I can build something like manhattan were people still wants to live.

There are several "Air Purifiers" on the STEX.  Take your choice.

Water pollution issues are usually solved by one or two ingame water purifiers.

However, if you want to solve your water, power and pollution problems download these:

    Artesian Water Condenser

    Anti-Matter Power Plant

You need both lots, and they are expensive to place, but cheap to run.  The power plant eats pollution, but if there is not enough pollution it will use tremendous amounts of water, hence the very large capacity water plant.

If you want to see a full nuclear wipe out of a complete city, drop a meteor on the power plant.  I suggest you do a save first, because your city will be totally destroyed and poisoned for 5000+ years.

Thanks but still not what I was looking for, can't anyone just make better trees? Beside God himself though 4.gif

I want to reduce my pollutions by half or something like that, and to do that I want it to cost something. Like making trees cost five times the normal amount but does five times that as much as the orginal trees... I don't want uggly buildings to give me pollution free electricity and water without any costs, thats just cheat... Do someone get my point? 4.gif

Thanks for all the suggestions, by the way.

Thats surely true, but it's less cheat than removing all pollutions according to me 3.gif

It's more realistic to have 5 trees surrounding a building instead of 15. How much trees do you get in New York? Almost none and I don't see their citizens complain all the time even though the city is about 10000 times larger compared to my small villiage with 200 000 citizens 4.gif

Hmm.. I was just thinking about this.. you could always take the PEG MECH TREE lot and EDIT it in the Lot Editor and replace the mechanical structure with a tree. This isn't very hard.. You could also lower the cost (I'm not sure how this is done, but probably with SC4Tool maybe?) while you're at it. Then you'd have the cheat you don't want to call a cheat.. 2.gif

I never had a problem with air pollution just by using CTRL+ALT+SHIFT and laying down trees in God mode.

I get a little above major road traffic sites but not nearly enough to cause problems.

try the radical or super demand mods in the mods section. I can't remember which one it is but there is under ordnances to allow no air water pollution.
