Utopia

A Klondike Delta Inspired CJ

By: superchad

I thank Mayor Tims Klondike Delta for inspiring the basic design of the city and basic airport idea

This is my second cj, i used some cheats, such as: you don’t deserve it (for a few things or things that I either rejected, or somehow lost, or are needed to fix mayor rating and such, and I use the helpful simolean tree to simulate more money made by the city, such as more money made from taxing bussines and industry, and houses, and money made from parts of the city such as the airport and seaport.

Introduction

Hello My Name is Allen Rogers, i am the 19th mayor of Utopia, i was elected at the end of last month after mayor Ryan Young tragicly died of a Heart Attack, only 4 years into office.

At the time of my election Utopia is a city of 747,262 inhabitants and growing, our economy is reaching new heights, more people move her every month than any other city in the region, most people have fallen in love with our unique scenery, and they love our city’s planning and layout.

Due to the isolated nature of the city most stuff is brought in by airlines and ships. Utopia has above average food prices, oil prices are actually lower then most other regions, due to the higher efficiency standards for cars in the city. You can buy a 200mpg car for around $7,500 or a 150mpg car for $2,500 or a 100mpg car for $1,000. Gas costs about $1.69 for performance, $1.59 for plus, and $1.49 for regular. The average air fair is about $100. The average shipping rate is about $75 per ton and $1.25 per 30 nautical miles. and the nearest sea port its 390 nautical miles

Since I am Currently newly elected I have not yet received full authority as mayor and can only get you a few pictures, here is a picture of the growing city of Utopia.

Utopia Region

in the next update we will view the downtown.

    Update 2: Views of Downtown

Hello Again, today I Received full authority as mayor, I was able to take the mayor private chopper up for a spin and snap those downtown pictures for you all. sorry for the length of the update.

We start off with a few views of downtown, the 4 black office buildings where abandoned due to low demand and we are hoping demand will rise and they will become re occupied, or we might have to remove them. The university that you see is called Gump University, after our 5th mayor Thomas Gump who support the improvements to the university that greatly helped its academic performance.

These are all very nice pictures...the transition from towering skyscrapers to your uptown into the suburbs is excellent. I also like how you include the 'not-so-positive' aspects of the city (i.e. landfill, abandoned buildings). It was nice seeing how you are moving the trash from the old to new landfill. Lets hope its far enough from the city, so you don't have to move it again. 4.gif

    well here is the update

    Update 5: Utopia International Airport

In this update we will be viewing the international airport, and its part of the city, the international airport handles approximately 4.5 million passengers a year, and 2 Million tons of cargo 25% of which is food. The Airport is served by aircraft such as Boeing 737s Boeing 74s, Boeing 767s, Boeing 777s, and in the future, Boeing 787s, and is also served by Airbus A320s, A330s, and A340s, and in the future A380s, and further into the future A350s.

The Airport has a 8 Gate Terminal, which is too small but I have plans to either build a new bigger one near the cargo facility or tear down the old one and build a new one.

    utopiainternationalairpic9.jpg

The Airport also has a Cargo Terminal Capable of handling 1 Million tons of cargo which is to small for the amount of cargo going through the city. So we are either going to expand it, build a new one nearby, or tear it down and build a better one.

    utopiainternationalairpff0.jpg

The airport has a State of the art Instrument Landing System, State of the art Air Traffic Control, and state of the art Weather Services, you can see the VORTAC/DME in this picture right below the airport fire station, wich has a pad for training fire fighters

    utopiainternationalairpks4.jpg

However the Airport has some bad problems, the lack of a crosswind runway makes landing in crosswinds much more challenging. The runways are criticized for being a little short for emergencies such as bad weather. Last month during a bad storm a plane almost ran off Runway 36R/9L due to wet surface, but the captain at the last minute was able to get off the runway. The Airport is also criticized for the location of the airport, the fact that its surrounded by water makes it much worse for a plane to run off the runway. And pilots complain about delays due to the location of the refueling station, the refueling trucks not only have to travel a long ways, but they also have to cross both runways to refuel cargo planes. Also pilots complain about the incomplete taxiways, so if the plane stops in certain areas of the runway they have to taxi on the runway to get to a taxiway. I plan to fix that with more taxiways. Here is a picture of a plane making a steep approach and landing

    utopiainternationalairpoj2.jpg

Neart the airport is a Airport Fire Station with 2 C-130 fire fighting planes and a solar powerplant, and you can also see the general aviation hangars, Cessna 152s, and Private Jets. General Aviation is a big concern here to safety, since there are tons of them, I am considering a new airport for the specific use of General Aviation Aircraft that will releave the airport of congestion, and make it safer to fly for both Private pilots and Commercial Airlines

    utopiainternationalairpat7.jpg

Nearby the Airport is also some industry that use the cargo facility for transportation of goods

    utopiainternationalairpak6.jpg

     utopiainternationalairpge2.jpg

Here are some bridges and highways linking city to the cargo terminal and rear area of the airport

not too bad, i have modded the nam 10x commute better pathfinding with traffic cop, more capacity, more speed but it works out with little conjestion but quite a bit of pollution, even the air cleaning tower cant clean the air pollution.

jrone3: thanks for your comment, actualy you can thank mayor tim for the airport placment, this cj is inspired by his old cj klondike delta, and the airport placment is the same city tile, and the design is very similar.

gamer01965: no, there is no naval area or army airfield/base

It's a very nice CJ superchad, I like how you made the downtown area and how it moves to uptown and to the suberbs. very nice. you also have extensively made farms. I have yet to learn how to "sprawl" a city. haha, I have to do that when I update my CJ later this week. anyways, keep it up and I hope to see more from you.
