Welcome to my cj, I know there are real places called Copper Basin, however this one is not based on any of those.

By the way, I am using the painted desert mod.

Pic 1.1 - Here you see an overview of the city so far.  The downtown is really going to spread out, and should be my biggest one I have made: edit: downtown looks more like the pic in the header now 4.gif

Pic 1.2 - Some development near a major highway interchange:

Pic 1.3 - Another shot with some of the colors of the desert:

Hope you enjoy, this is a change for me!

Nice! The desert with the green city belts inbetween looks fantastic. Nice road layout too, especially the highways. Promising!

Great start! The choice of BATs you've decided to use is awesome. They really work well with the terrain you've chosen. The city looks realistically laid out, if though a little too full of avenues. I also love how your downtown sort of curves upwards towards the library tower. I'm bookmarking this and looking forward to seeing how it develops!

I like the start. Mybe a little to many avenues, if you'd ask me, but still a good start.

reminds me of LV with all these empty blocks.

You've hit gold again, my friend. What ever happened to Cobalt Springs, or whatever your last one was? I LOVED that one. For some reason I was just thinking about some of the dirty references today. The Hershey Highway...string of pearls...dude...I loved that CJ.

This one looks sweet though. The picture with the hotel next to the highway with nothing but desert in its backyard perfectly captures the desert-city-growing-too-fast-disease that Pheonix and Las Vegas are dealing with.

Before I start with the individual replies, I just want to say how much I appreciate all the great responses.  I wasn't expecting that at all, so thank you.

    sEAhAwk fAn121 -
Thanks for being so quick to comment, and I am glad you like what I'm doing so far!

gabetx - Thanks!  Here is more, well a little more!

dralin321 - Thank you, I look forward to having you along as it develops.

Godzillaman - You better not be foolin'!  j/k

    *****atoo-210893 - Thanks C0CKATOO!  I'm glad you like!  3.gif

    connorc24 - Thank you 007 times!

Geronimo!!!!!!!  - I think I just jumped!  Thanks, I'm happy that you like the road layout!

jacqulina - Hey Jacky, I've been great!  Yes, this terrain should be more of a challenge than I'm used to, but I wanted to do something different.  I did have a great Christmas, thank you for asking!

Silur -  hmmm, thank you. okay I will!

Mulefisk - Thanks, I'm really glad you like it.  Yes, I always tend to lean a little heavy on the avenues, especially around downtown, but I  will see if I can break that trend.  Thanks for commenting!

GMT - Thanks, yes - there are too many avenues right now, I might have to get rid of some of them.  By the way, I was always wondering what the GMT stands for?

suplado! - thanks, coming from you that is a great compliment - since, you know, you have the coolest cj on here!

    anarchy0029 - Thanks alot!  I will try.

football_fever - Hey thanks!  Cobalt Springs went down the ol' toilet ( I obliterated it) don't ask why.  I'm glad you liked the vulgarity of it, don't worry I plan on making this as filthy and raunchy as tastefully as possible, if that is possible!  3.gif         butt cheeks.

Schulmanator - Thanks for commenting Schulmiester!

    penguin007 - Thanks Will!

bbfan02 - Thanks, I wasn't sure if I liked the terrain at first, but it has grown on me!

gndrew - thanks!  I didn't intend on it looking like Vegas, but if it turns out that way, that's okay I guess!

Here are some more pics for you:

Pic 2.1 - A closer view of downtown during the day:

Pic 2.2 - Downtown at night:

Pic 2.3 - Sandstone Plaza shopping center:
    2up3-1.jpg

    Pic 2.4 - another angle:
    2up4-2.jpg

Pic 2.5 - The Sears where the "snake incident occurred".  What snake incident you ask?  Lets just say a male employee went out back for a smoke, and while taking a wizz on some rocks found out what a nearby rattlesnake was planning on having for lunch that day.
    2up5.jpg

Pic 2.6 - It's still the same shopping center!
    2up6-1.jpg

Pic 2.7 - A view of where it fits in with the area:
    2up7-1.jpg

Thanks for looking, more to come!

    Time for another quick update!

suplado! - Thanks, I'm really glad you like my pics.  I'm pretty satisfied with the way downtown is shaping up, and it should look much better as it fills in and begins spreading out to the suburbs. (which I have not made yet!)

Mike the Mayor - thanks, Mike!  Very glad you like it!

lucky7 - Thanks, glad you like the split highway, I wasn't so sure about having that many lanes on part of it, but it turned out okay.

artoxb - Thank you!  The terrain is pretty cool, during the summer months it is more barren, and during the winter months it gets a little greener.

xlchrisij - Thanks, if you search the forums for the North American stadiums thread you will find it!

Now for a few more pics:

Pic 3.1 - Daytime aerial of the city from the North:

    Pic 3.2 - Night view:
    3up2-2.jpg

Pic 3.3 - Here you see Kuhmblazt Park, founded by an early Russian immigrant Vladimir Kuhmblazt:

Pic 3.4 - Another shot of Kuhmblazt Park:

Pic 3.5 - This is a view of the Klusterfuk Highway Exchange, designed by world renouned German engineer Hans Klusterfuk:

Thank you for looking at my cj!

Wow, so I was playing Mercenaries last night and when I chose the cluster bomb, for a sec I thought it said the name of your interchange! Weird how that happens...

    Kuhmblazt park....wow...awesome

Anyway, seriously, about the city now. It's cool how you can almost leave the empty space behind places like the mall, because empty desert is what's actually there in many cases.
