Oh my. I've seen CJs with photoshopping, but you take it to another level! It's as if the color is as important in your cities as your buildings. Great job. Something about the trees makes them look like a photogragh, and the smoke from the burning building being taken by the wind current 43.gif

And the junkyard might be the prettiest ugly thing I've seen in the game. Did you make that?

•UPDATE NINE  Hammond Port Part One  8th MARCH 2008•

    Wanna see bigger pictures?

Hello ST! You all thought I was dead didn't you, well you were wrong! It's just that school and everything else has been severely restricting my free time  22.gif ... not to worry though!

Over the last three weeks I've been building a rather large new town on the shores of Hammond bay, a little south of Franklin sound- it’s called Hammond Port. It's a little more spread out but not as high-rise as Franklin Sound Inlet and uses heaps of different styles of architecture that you'll probably hate when there all mixed together... but I like the way it worked out. Unlike Franklin Sound Inlet, this city is mostly grown, so I just decided to take the 'go with the flow' approach and let anything that wanted to grow, grow- Japanese, French, Northern American, European, Asian... I think there's even a mosque in there somewhere! It also uses one of the most complicated transit networks I've ever built.

Basically, the town consists of a smallish Downtown with suburban sprawl all around and a large PEGASUS port lining the coast line. Here’s teh map…

    City-HammondPort-Map.jpg

          Semi-Downtown

    Green:   Suburban Sprawl

    Blue:      Planned Suburban Development

    Yellow:   Port / Navy Docks

Here's your first set of images, I've got heaps more to come...

holy crap, i love that waterfront!

where did you get the building with all the billboards? was that photoshopped, your own creation, or found somewhere that i haven't checked yet?

this update was very well laid-out. the first pictures were unassuming, but then they evolved into sheer awesomeness!

Nice reentry into the CJ universe. 3.gif

I like Hammond Port a lot! It's a very unique city because one style of architecture isn't in focus. Your approach to building this city is quite similar to mine - but with much, much better results. The transportation layout is awesome! I really like that stretch of diagonal road and rail with the parks. Those two things, paired together with the beautiful editing and presentation (Regional overviews of the city and variety in the pictures) makes this update one of the best ones so far.

    •UPDATE TEN  A change of direction…  1st APRIL 2008•

Well, after much consideration, I have decided to take this CJ in a new direction because of some of the feedback I’ve been receiving.

You’ve all been hinting for some time now that my Photoshoping is err… overdone WAY to much to say the least, so from now on, the only Photoshoping I will be doing will consist of some small un-noticeable captions and re-sizing.

Also, you’ve all been saying that my style of mixing many different styles of buildings into the single city is… lame… so to totally avoid this problem, I have deleted ALL my plugins and from now on this WILL BE A MAXIS CONTENT CJ ONLY.

Offcourse, because the previous cities featured here were mostly created from custom content, unfortunately they had to be obliterated and saved over with the blank terrain.

Here is the progress on my new downtown… Wren Insurance is just such an awesome building don’t you think, I just love it how it grows… and grows… and grows… even out of low rise residential zones apparently.

God, my computer has been running so much faster since I deleted all those awful plugins, you should do the same, turns out Maxis buildings aren’t that bad after all.

I hope you like the new direction of this CJ, please leave your comments and come again.
